Jailer's Time

Evil little faces
In little evil places

come in from many cases
Behind the glass door mazes, do we really make changes?

Do they actually change us?
 I walk by the metal cages, I've come to feel the same spaces

Humbly, I have to say this
We are all on borrowed time still

Those we love

Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
A loyalty we're blessed to win,
Always there like a second skin.

Come rain or shine, true love lingers,
They're as useful as our fingers,
Their presence soothes each weary heart,
And makes all worries soon depart.

They're warm blankets in harsh weather,
Their fondness binds us together,
Their words can guard us through all storms,
With trust and guidance that transforms.

Within our heart their love's the pith,
A truth beyond mere mortal myth,
A joy that never fades or flees,
A peace that pleases, not teases.

Premium Member A Empty Heart Holds

"In life we learn from love, hurts, mistakes and from the ones we have trusted." By Poet

My heart once held love overflowing,
joy was bursting at the seams and glowing.
That was before you came along,
you did me so very wrong.
Filling my loving heart with pain,
I will never do this again.
Now I will guard my hurt and empty heart,
you have made me very smart.
No more bad words and lies,
for now I have become wise.

Life Guard

Bollard stands so firm,
Life's fragile path stays safer,
No straying allowed.

Ever on guard

                               Your hobby is to kill my joy,
                       Each of the bullet you fire hurts.
                    But whatever your ploy.
              I'll always clear your dirts.
             I'm made strong to last.
          Try even more hard,
          My mind is fast.
          Ever on guard.

Gideon Stands Guard

The moon, a charcoal smudge, hangs low and dim,
while stars, like pinpricks, pierce the black night.
Clicking crickets creates a raucous hymn,
and katydids whir on new wings to take flight.

A yellow bulb's honeyed glow makes a homey sheen
until a timer flicks a switch turning off the light
and letting darkness rush into the tranquil scene,
making baby goats bleat from fright.

In the corner lays a lumpy carpet of fur
made by mamma goats cuddling nice and tight;
making the entire goat herd an entangled blur
of white rumps and necks entwined in the night.

Except for little Gideon, who stands in the barn door;
a castrated pygmy goat turned into a withered grazer,
stares at the house below without a snort or a snore,
as he chews his cud, thinking about some tormentor.

Why else stand guard?

Premium Member Color Guard Genius

Jaunting down a garnet brick road
I admire the diamond treetops
glistening as if it just snowed;

Sky’s alive with sparkles and pops;
Leftovers of silent fireworks
fall to the ground in absurd drops;

Color guard genius in those quirks;
You have no choice but to surrender
to where your imagination lurks;

The darkest Sun or brightest thunder?
Such joy lies in following wonder.

Guard Your Heart

Author Dana Redricks
September 25, 2024

You gotta watch what you're saying, you gotta guard your heart, the enemy will try to set you up, and make you corrupt.

Out of the heart flows the abundance of life. What's in our hearts will eventually come out. Watch your saying it will eventually come back on you.

Something's you need to keep to yourself, I know you're hurting inside, I know you've been crying for such a long, long time, but only God can heal the pain in your heart.

I know at times you feel like you're falling apart. Give it to God, He will heal your heart. Guard Your heart, don't let your mind run free. Open up your eyes so you can see, you need to free your heart.

You need to keep it in check, keep it in check, guard Your heart, guard your heart.

I know you're feeling lonely, you're looking for someone to share life with, but some things are better off unsaid. Once it's said you can't take it back.

I know at times you feel like you're falling apart. Give it to God, He will heal your heart. God will heal Your heart, don't let your mind run free.

Guard your heart, guard your heart, and you will be free, you will be free.

Caught me off-guard

Your eyes prevent me from thinking a lot,
yet let you prey on my mind.
Cannot really describe the happiness they plot
Because in my mind, there is a lot to find.

They always find their way to my heart
Funny how they never deceive my sight.

Your prestige is presumptuous
which makes me more scrumptious.
It does not allow me to scream out your name,
but prevails me to continuously stare at you
In your absence nothing is the same,
yet in your presence I do not know what to do.

Prestige-good reputation
Presumptuous- too bold or confident
Scrumptious-careful

Premium Member Changing of the Guard

My wait over in my thirty-ninth year
  when an old covet brought a life’s new lease,
and on my first watch would elated stare
  upon nursling eyes shut in newborn peace.
Thirty-nine years before first gazed my own -
  my tiny hands clutched in my father’s palms
but that spirit was hidden and not shown
  and thus I shall spare you no such alarms.
In your helpless lay, in first sleep of babes
  the future becomes yours, and now I trust
I will feel its flame before my own fades
  and remember to wait if wait I must.
Behold, a changing of the guard I see
when I look at you looking back at me.

Ripped from submissive
timing employed empowered
by selfless energies I tired
beneath the notions of hidden
tangible lessons entrusted
entangled by mastery cleverly
designed inbound communication
I catered to endless emotions
that dissipated dissolved on
impact tampering with desire
holding on to the mere essence
of my own adoration beyond what
is next what is covenant what is
protected upon a chess board
protecting the queen’s soul body
and heart at all cost a rapture of
surety creating mastering safety
above all else saving protecting me

A guard in the post
A ship anchored in the quay
Awaits passengers.
