Miss Tarantula Gets Grounded

Miss Tarantula Gets Grounded

Miss Tarantula’s mother was bawling
as she grounded Miss T for eating all the cake
every time she went sleep crawling.
Her mother screamed, ‘That cake,
these cakes, took me hours to bake!’

So very sad Miss T was sent to her full of gloom
warm cobwebbed attic room.
It was already boarded up.
The lockset was covered, covered up
with silk of high tensile strength
of great length.

On a beam above, she was weeping
at the outside hurly-burly of the trick-or-treating.

Feet firmly planted
Solid ground action
Criticism shout from the other side
Struggles among struggles
No one understands
Standing on Heaven’s demand
Tears fall of anguish at times
Many a night
Separation between fighting living and plight at the same setting
Pitiful world
Refuses to listen
Mind, Body and Soul galactic
Assurance enforced
Heaven who guides of course

Knowing I fit in with society
Human puzzle being the piece carefully made
Abilities only one can imagine
Imaginations full of fascinations
I stand able to stand
Courage mounts
Destiny spirit
Walking in confidence
Criticizing me still from the other side
Fulfilling at will
People are so blind
Their gestures are not kind
Can’t stop me
Capability you see
I am not a count out
I am the image of count me in

Sunrise came
Tomorrow to be
Goodness in purpose
A Day for greatness
I breathe
I embrace
The skies smile
The clouds applaud
I am ok
A Heavenly creation walks
Grounded dignity.

Untitled

This land was never gentle.
Stone learned early
how to stay.
Wind learned
how to strike
and keep moving.

Some places raise
what survives
weeds through concrete,
trees bent low
by wire, by smoke,
roots gripping
whatever depth will hold.

Rain does not ask.
It falls where it can,
finds cracks,
makes a way
through ruin.

Fire passes.
It always does.

What remains is quieter
blackened ground,
green waiting,
the work beneath
still happening.

Even scarred earth
keeps going
ash becoming cover,
pressure becoming shape,
learning how to stand.

You are grounded

You are grounded
Here on holy ground
The leaves of the trees
Are floating in the water
Because there are trees
Near the lake that my Father
Made with his holy hands
Many years ago
And also the birds are now resting on the trees
Branch
I spend the morning here on the lake
First thing in the morning
And there are nobody else
At this time of the day
Also it it still very cold near the lake
I brought with me my spring jacket
I know I will be just fine
It will warm up by lunch time
And there will be crowded
I personally hate crowds
It is now 8:30 PM
I will return back home
Also I will do some work for my Father
Using my computer
I will write some poems for my father
My poems will be all different from each other
Also have different feelings
That comes out straight from my heart
Also people I am loving and caring people

My name is Bearth Bentley and
I know I’m not jumping off this planet
Anytime soon, at least
Not without a rocket ship
Most likely

Everything here is stuck
In the muck from below

magnetic poles or magnetic soles

I’m positive, I’m stuck here

Slow the mind
Stopping time
Just look around
Nothing’s moving
All is still
              so it seems ...

Transparent puppet strings
Come up from below
Not down from above
Holding me here
All day long
Until I finally just give in
Lay my heavy head down to sleep

And dream ....

                                of being released

                                                                       from this bondage

Sometimes,
I feel as if this existence is some form of punishment
Just for being born
And ultimately death will come for such
                                                          is the crime of creation

Meanwhile,

                 while I live,

                                          I’m grounded.

Premium Member Grounded In The Moment

I am seeing gray
Clouds outside window
Through the opened blinds
Bare oak tree swayed by
The brisk breeze, traffic

I feel a draft
Paper's surface
The round ink pen
My faint heartbeat

Husband's snores
Heat clicks off
Trucks' engines

Powder
Coffee

Premium Member Coming Down to Earth Grounded

I see a clearing
It's big enough to land in
The grass is short
No rocks or bumps
It's all clear for landing

My heart beats in panic
Tears of sweat run down my face
Fear grips my body
In expectant embrace

The engine splutters and coughs
Bangs erupt from broken wings
I hear my own screams

The smoke is acrid in flared nostrils
My flesh burning, stinks

Ah! I savour a touchdown, touche!

I wish you love that wraps
You up and carries you up above
Your challenges and balances life
May your tears be filled with joy
And your laughter paint your face
That you brighten up every day
And lighten up every night
May you create sweet memories
To hold you tight when life gets loose
For we all need someone or something
That keeps us grounded

Premium Member Self Control

Self control, God knows, is difficult at best…
Especially when rebellious is the
 self possessed.
I've put myself in corners,
I'll be grounded till pigs have wings
I can't even tell myself what to do, it seems.

GROUNDED

GROUNDED

I think it’s going to rain dear,
Called Mrs. C from the door.
Ho ho ho, said Santa,
I’ve heard that joke before.

Tomorrow is my big day.
It’s Christmas Eve you know.
I’ve heard the weather forecast
And of course it’s going to snow.

I’m setting off a day early this time
Or I’ll get there late I fear.
The reindeer are getting past their prime
And struggle more each year

Comet can’t shoot across the sky
And Vixen’s even slower.
Dasher can barely get off the ground
And Cupid’s aim’s getting lower.

Dunder can’t thunder through the air..
Poor Dancer can no longer dance.
Blitzen no longer lights up the sky
While Prancer can no longer prance

Even Rudolph’s light is fading;
No longer a shiny nose.
And, if you ever saw it,
You wouldn’t say it glows

I’m afraid they’re no longer able
To pull the loaded sled.
So next year I’m putting them out to grass
And going electric instead

Grounded

Writing a poem keeps me grounded;
It’s what I accomplish each day.
With stimuli I am surrounded,
Providing so much I can say.

Responding to Nature’s inspiring
As well as the news that that I read,
For what in the world is transpiring
Often gives me the push that I need.

My family and friends keep me going,
The grandkids a source of delight,
Supplying me, as they are growing,
With endless incentives to write.

But mostly, my poems are revealing
Of sentiments trapped in my brain,
Which, written in rhyme, tap each feeling
I otherwise couldn’t explain.

yet one word from you
and i know that i could fly

AP: 2nd place 2023

Grounded

As I filter through these items stored
Within my mind and heart

Am I to just pretend
You never held a part

Held so loosely in your hand
Without restraint or guile

Made my spirit take to flight
Uplifted by your smile

Why must I hit delete on
Memories held dear

A moot point at best,I simply can't
They always reappear

It is a fact you left a mark
No superficial wound

Cut to the core forever more
Flight feathers permanently pruned

The first cut IS the deepest
All that follows but a scratch

Trying as hard as was possible
I would not take the patch

All in my life incurred since then
I hold no one to task

As I honestly gave all that I could give
Putting on my happiest mask

So........I will always be your Buddy
You will always be my Pal

And if any have a problem
They can also have a cow
