Best Grounded Poems
You keep me grounded
to the soil of my soul
reminding me again
that my words matter
that they help scatter
misconceptions
making connections
pathways to inner places
leaving conjugated traces
of emotional bleeds
and epiphanies
you keep me grounded
when nothing pulls me back
and I float free
tired of poetic mediocrity
nothing new under the sun
not clever enough for that pun
heart sore and word desert bare
when I can't be bothered to care
you keep me grounded
you read the forgotten lines
find a charm, find a rhyme
something of beauty
a pleasure filled treasue
my effort you measure
and when my heart bleeds
you sound the alarm
checking on me
helping me to be
OK
you keep me grounded
Once again, I write
my muse metaphorically in flight
paradoxically poetic
for.....it's now clear to me
you keep me grounded....here
Dedicated to Richard Lamoureux!
Richard, thanks for the many many visits
and for making me want to stay
You keep me grounded
what can I say :)
Mindfulness meditation
through deep thoughts
a intellectual journey
Take your reflection to next level
hone your moral compass
find the inner peace
Recognizing the value of life
the art of deep thinking is not lost
We have too many worries in life
Challenge yourself
discover various perspectives
simply becoming better human
Two birds sit in a tree... A colaboration from Wilma Neels &
Only separated by the sea.. Michael J. Falotico
They hum tunes that only they can hear...
The sun sets on one as the other see's it appear..
The wandering sounds of bliss..
Bring back memories to reminisce...
On days when they could spread their wings...
And experience all those amazing things...
When they would spread their wings and fly...
And time would just whisk by...
All they have left is memories...
And a lifetime of mysteries...
Stood at the upstairs window, hands face down
fists clenched, knuckles touching cool windowsill.
Crows, silhouette cut-outs surveyed the town
from aerials and ranged the skies at will.
I watched their dark progressions jealously,
from eggshells cracked they burst and rove the sky
roaming when needs dictate, they hunt and feed
instinct their engine, not some reasons why.
And here I stand moulded by circumstance,
driven by life's winds, leaf upon a stream,
currents of obligation, waves of chance
my path determined, yet allowed to dream.
Cannot accept defeat though these things be,
I know I'm out there somewhere- the real me
Self control, God knows, is difficult at best…
Especially when rebellious is the
self possessed.
I've put myself in corners,
I'll be grounded till pigs have wings
I can't even tell myself what to do, it seems.
Contrary to the popular consensus
Poets in general are very well grounded, well adjusted
As opposed to the general population
It's the average Joe or Jillian out there that are in question
It's really not their fault, it's due to the state of the world
The constant bombardment of negative news
That we constantly receive daily
Negatively affects us year after year, decade after decade
It never gets any better... in fact it's worse AND scarier
But I've said it before and here I say it again
Rise above it and carry on in spite of all the negativity
In my experience, it's really the only way to survive
I seem to be harping on this theme a lot lately
But in reality, I'm just trying to give you the benefit of my 79 years
And what I've found has helped me get through
Really I'm no great stinker... uh, thinker
Just passing along what I've learned!

I always look at the ground . . . whenever I walk. . . on the sidewalk I barely make the effort at looking straight ahead. Instead, I look at my path. . of where my feet are making contact . . with the pavement . . made to be stepped on. . . bounded to the earth that people don’t appreciate enough. . like the unwanted crust from a slice of pizza or a homemade sandwich, disregarded and not wanted. . . I look down to not engage contact with the walking bodies of strangers. . . from the street corners of conjoined houses, to the bustling system of train stations and around alleys for financial institutions. The ground will always be there. The only time I look up is when I see an architecture worthy of my attention. . . the complex engineering of constellations beyond the blueprints of hand-made skyscrapers. . . it doesn't take long before I fix my attention back . . down to the ground. I will forever look at it knowing that I will one day be buried in it.
Grounded Ship

The ship had run aground
While the crew was horsing around.
No one could see,
How this could be,
Since the Captain was nowhere around.
I was raised among the autumn leaves
Subjugated to the seasons
And the mirth of the wind
Transfixed by the passing moon
That sad old man
Who claims to be wise, yet utters naught
More guidance I have found from the lonely Lilac
And the vole; and the sympathetic rain
Than I have from Luna
For I am lonely and fear that soon
I too will be the aggregate
Of time and erosion
Just as I lost my footing
And the dirt slipped loosely
I felt my body my life tumbling backward
My arms flailing before me
And then your hand
Keeping me grounded
Into your arms
Shielded from the harm of the outside world
Snow crisp and white
No indents made by wildlife ….
All flights grounded
As I filter through these items stored
Within my mind and heart
Am I to just pretend
You never held a part
Held so loosely in your hand
Without restraint or guile
Made my spirit take to flight
Uplifted by your smile
Why must I hit delete on
Memories held dear
A moot point at best,I simply can't
They always reappear
It is a fact you left a mark
No superficial wound
Cut to the core forever more
Flight feathers permanently pruned
The first cut IS the deepest
All that follows but a scratch
Trying as hard as was possible
I would not take the patch
All in my life incurred since then
I hold no one to task
As I honestly gave all that I could give
Putting on my happiest mask
So........I will always be your Buddy
You will always be my Pal
And if any have a problem
They can also have a cow
Stillness sweeps sound
Glimpse gracious grounds
Live lovely light
Bear blossoms bright
Prize poignant place
Feel fleeting face
New notions niche
Ride rapture rich
Seize sublime sense
Touch thrilling tense
Style sensuous spread
Drown dreary dread
Meek mind moves make
Swift surprise stake
Charm crazy choice
Pick pretty poise
Day dreams dance deep
Stream spacious sleep

My soul cries out in anguish for the many sins of my flesh…longing to do right, but somehow my flesh desires only to do wrong. My soul and spirit cry out to my flesh to be strong! My flesh longs to be accepted by this world…full with pleasers of the flesh, ignorant to their own immortal souls! I long to pull off all my fleshly parts, to be left as nothing more than skin and bones…then I could immerse both my soul and spirit with the faithful words to God…No more, need to worry Abba, Father! Flesh is no longer here to separate me from your words!
His girlfriend he wanted to see
To travel he came by Jet Ski
The moron, the fool
Broke our Covid rule
Our Deemster was far from happy!
His Christmas will be spent in jail
Found guilty, he’s no chance of bail
This romeo roofer
He sure is a goofer
No wonder his face turned so pale
*This morning around eight o’clock
He’s transported to Douglas dock
Where he was sent packing
(A jet ski he’s lacking)
No longer such a proud peacock!

This idiot had never ridden a jet ski but decided to contravene our very strict covid regulations and come over to the Island from Scotland to see his girlfriend who he had only met in September – he had twice been denied permission to travel.
He thought it would take about 40 minutes to travel but it took him over 4 hours as the sea was rough and then he (allegedly) walked 15 miles to her home, Meanwhile the coastguards in Scotland were worried about him but managed to contact him via mobile phone but he never disclosed he was on our island. He and his girlfriend went out to 2 nightclubs and when questioned by authorities he said he lived with her and gave her address… but he got caught out, court and put in prison for 4 weeks. However, today (23rd December) he was released and deported back to Scotland which I guess is good news for the 2 children he has with his ex partner. Only time will tell if he is allowed back on the Island but because of the situation in the UK with the new variant of Covid we are currently under very strict lockdown since midnight yesterday and only residents and essential key workers are allowed to come to the island…. Another poem is in the pipeline a parody of a John Denver song called I’m leaving on a Jet- Ski… watch this space!
