winter tree
scribble on paper
shattered glass
aging masterpiece
blood vessels
interrupted sleep
morning bed hair
porcelain crazing
drought dry earth
think quickly
fungal strands
frozen pond uh-oh
straw on floor
slept-in sheets
did I lock the door
letter from a pocket
can’t reach that itch
tickly cough
grandad’s skin
winter tree
he paused
pushing himself on the soft leather
shaped by his years
-Happy
his eyes beaming
below the arced trellises of his greyed out eyebrows
Dion rested at his grandfathers feet
His face in a contortion of bewilderment
-No, I mean as a job
The old man grasped a freshly iced can of
some sugar filled gloop
and poured it between them both
He gave a chuckle
disguising it as a cough
as the child held the glasses together to better measure the gloop
before placing one in his grandfathers hand
The giant princes and 7 people doesn’t have the same ring
-Okay what about Grumpy
pulling a fake gurn to his face
the tickle of his beard causing him to sneeze to easily
Dion yawned his grandfather wiping the sleep peadrops from his eye
Bashfully I must leave
but my grate NESS

Dear Grandad,
We miss you
We love you
May you rest in peace
Until we meet again
Today is your funeral
It's just another day for humanity
But for us, your family
It is a solemn and emotional occasion
Your soul has flown to Heaven
You're watching from above
Our souls speak of sweet memories
Blessed moments filled with love
We'll lower your coffin into consecrated ground
Your body will lay there for your eternal rest
But your soul will always be free
And one day we'll see you again in Heaven
Until then...
Rest in peace
We miss you
We love you
Always

head cradled on folded arms
as a young boy I’d sit rapt
in the tales told by an old man
as he drew pictures at our dinner table
no bragging, not at all
just remembrances
of arid deserts and tuscan sunsets
heaving seas and emptying bellies
he saw the world
give or take
in six years
for king and country
back then I did not notice the pauses
how he never mentioned friends
eyes magnified through thick bifocals
searching some distant battlefield
he came home and got work in a mill
watched his wife die not long after
brought up three boys alone
but never grumbled, not at all

My granddad’s five-dollar bill in hand
Was blown by a breeze through farmland.
Our dog, King, “saved the Abe”
Fetched the bill straight away
To return it to my grandad’s hand.
(True Story that happened in the 1960s)
One day you dropped down dead,
Your heart stopped,
Dad says " you were the apple of his eye",
I wish I had known you,
My grandad,
Grandma never remarried,
You where her one true love,
You couldn't be replaced,
I often think of you,
Wondering what we would have done
My grandad,
Your together again these many years,
My grandma and grandad,
I love you both.

you light up every room
If I’m down you lift all my gloom
Your beautiful little face
Would brighten up any place
That cheeky little grin
Your cute little chin
Your funny little ways
You never cease to amaze
I can’t wait for you to grow
But a part me of wants you to take it slow
I can’t wait to see
How you will be
Though I don’t see you every day
I want you listen to what I say
There’s a place in my heart that will never alter
There will always be room for you my beautiful granddaughter
My gorgeous Logan
——————————
Oh my gorgeous little bruiser
Grandads special little boozer
With buckets full of fun and
mischief by the cart full
Our very own dodger so very artful
Your in and your out
your up and your down
but it’s always the
washing machine where you’ll be found
Showing no sign of
ever slowing down
My special little boozer
With bags full of energy
your our very own
little trooper
I love it when you give me hugs and kisses
When I can’t be there and don’t see you that’s what grandad really misses
So for the short time we’re apart I’ll keep all them kisses right here in my heart
And that just leaves one thing to be spoken
my promise to you
that our bond will
never be broken
I’ll love you always my precious little
Logan

Love grandad
Grandad was the best
He was better than the rest.
When he passed
My heart turned to glass.
Now he's up in heaven
I haven't seen him since I was eleven
Its so hard without him
I don't understand how I'm coping.
I suppose it's for you grandad.
I Love You!
Weather he is here or not,
The love for him is still Hot.
We all wish we could of touched you one last time,
It's all been a long time.
Five years have gone by,
And there's never a time you not in my eyes.
Grandad you keep me strong,
Don't ever worry it wont be long.
Sooner or later ill be in your warm arms,
holding you tight and never letting go.
I Love You Grandad!!
Rest In Peace My Angel....
This is only For a special person,
And that has to be you Grandad!
forever and always in my head...

these happy memories.
my memories of you start to fade
like flowers wilting in the shade
i was so young when you left us
i remember the funeral and the fuss
stories were told and memories too
my people i didn't know who was who
now it has been four years since you been gone
those four years have been awfully long
the heart of gold, grandad, that you had
even when you made nanny mad
you thought of others you were a good man
we all miss you even Dan
even though he tries hard not to
he remind me of you in everything he can do
this is my poem i wrote for you
just to let you know we all miss you
