Premium Member Oscar

You can never go overboard at the steambunk convention they said
But they did not know about Oscar, son of OvertheTop Ted.
He designed a steampunk hat that was way over what was expected.
And his beard was so far out, the rest of them rubber-neck-ted.

I did not think he’d be this far out, his friend Drew said to all.
That mustache is crazy too, I will not invite him next fall.
But Oscar won them over, even though his look was over-the-top.
They liked his personality so much, he comes every year;
he has never stopped.

SOMETIMES

Sometimes you will go overboard
to try to prove a point
Like not being told what to do
I think that comes from being in the joint

Sometimes you will think certain things
that will be way out of the norm
Like someone is thinking something of you
but it's from your own thoughts that they form

Sometimes driving you see a car
and you'll think someone is after you
Oblivious to what you are thinking
I just carry on with what I do

Sometimes we will be in a crowd
you will seem anxious or ill at ease
I wish for you peace at this time
     God give him solace please

Sometimes I wish I could change him
make him into someone he'd love
too many years of being conditioned
He lost when push came to shove

YOU FEEL

For as much as you may feel
You are right aned you are free
to do the things you want
just know I feel this way too, it's the same for me

For as much as you may feel
you know what you speak is right
and you seem to think I am wrong
doesn't mean you win this fight

For as much as you may feel
you are the one who does you
as everyone feels this way
it's not different, it's just true

For as much as you may feel
you will not be kept from, in or about
don't always assume that is what happens
when life casts on you a shadow of a doubt

For as much as we may all know
the big man that you are
to go overboard or even backwards
to prove a point has gone too far

For as much as you may push against
     a pull so to speak
your life becomes so much harder
by trying not to look weak

Premium Member His Overboard Tale

Ocean is more ancient than the mountains, and
freighted with the memories and the dreams of time.
—H.P. Lovecraft, The Best of H.P. Lovecraft:
Bloodcurdling Tales of Horror and the Macabre

His Overboard Tale

My captain bellows, “heave-ho.”
Off the plank I go, overboard.

I plunged into the night, entangled in
aberrant irises of the deep.

When my abject insanity rewinds,
I wish that I had swallowed the sea.

The kiss of salt and seaweed,
the wretch filled my lungs.

The Shes were more fish than maid
with huge hips and floundering tails.

The strange language of burbles,
their breasts made me gag…

Seahag hair, menacingly like Medusa’s.
I surmised sirens locks would actually bite.

My dreams capsized.
Why am I alive?

I’d rather that the chest be covered.
I shall never recover.

That’s why this landlubber
drinks and drinks, burbles.

At the end I was found on a rock.
I hit the rocks hard.

Swallow the water, lad.
Leave no room for desire.

Mermaids are a misnomer;
breaststroking in Bruichladdich proof.

Have a swim lad in this label
and stay far away from shore.

Premium Member Rhyming

Some folks, for fun, collect stamps or cook.
Others may seek lofty mountains to climb.
Erudite people might well pen a book,
But I'm happiest when I make a rhyme.

My hope is to write meaningful and true,
But, at times, I might get carried away,
And rhyme any 'ol thing and before I'm through,
I go overboard to my friends' dismay.

A speeding cop asks for registration.
I say, "this ain't cause for celebration".

The grocery cashier says, "have a nice day".
I say, "how, with the prices I must pay?"

I think I would be the most delighted,
If things like the presidential debate,
Or congressional proceedings were recited
Completely in rhyme - yep, that would be great!

When I'm asked "do you take her for your wife?",
I'll say, "sure 'nuff mister, you bet your life!"

Ricochet

Don't go overboard
If you want to live, turn back
Sweep enough on chord.

Trust the Process

My heart
It beats
Its own sound
It makes the world go around
Before a person gets to know you
They see the outer
Not the inner
You don't have to go overboard. You are a winner
Where do you start
Doesn't mean that's where it will end
Turn the page over and then begin
A new chapter
A new start
Pour it out
Your heart
Do your best
Keep climbing ??
For success

Trust the process
Process the trust
The Lord loves us so much

Judge not ye
Ye not judge
We are all a work in progress
Do more
Say less
Keep giving your best
What can you do
Be the better version of you
Think with your mind
They say act on your heart
The Lord will guide you from finish to start!

Trust the process
Process the trust
The Lord loves us so much

The process comes with ups and downs
Keep your head up
This go round
Trust God's process
He knows what best

Trust the process
Process the trust
The lord love us so much

Premium Member Witticisms In Moonlight

witticisms in moonlight
love’s mattress rumbling with laughs
this couple’s bellies hurting
we go overboard

The Craftsman's Objectivity

We show them the way,
We clear the path for them,
We pull them out of obscurity,
Into the threshold of success,
They're excited at this point,
They are propelled to
 different levels of accomplishments,
Some are unyielding,
Some rebel,
Some are recalcitrant,
Some are obstinate,
They seem not to understand,
They can’t fully comprehend,
That we bask in their glory,
Their light brings us to the limelight,
We share a fraction of its luminance,
We go overboard in our effort,
To ensure they have a
 smoother sail than we had,
They might not see this now,
Time will speak for us,
Time will embolden all,
Then they'll know,
We don’t live for now but for the future.

Premium Member My Knees Don'T Like Me

My knees don't like me very much
Right now I don't like them.
They use to be much friendlier
When I stayed fit and trim.

You don't give up on friends because
They've maybe gained some weight
But mercy me , if I was a three
They'd take me on a date.

I want them to remember
To think real long and hard
Replacement's in the future
So I'd not go overboard.

Little Harry

Little Harry was a born coward with life he was bored
Went to Montevideo to kiss Elizabeth Ford
She gifted him with a car
Took him to a tango bar
Dined him on a toad when he refused to go overboard

Premium Member A Green Christmas

Looks like we could have a green Christmas this year
Which is great as long as it snows on that day, d'ya hear
Just that special day
Then melt all away
Let's not go overboard, can't wait for spring to appear

Drowning

Drowning-
Sitting there nice and still slowly sinking
you smile as the strangers smile back confused and unaware
you were just drowning in your tears
one by one the words rip through your skin tearing you apart
limb by limb you try to stay up but the weights keep you down
your slowly drowning and nobody can help you now,
people think that the scars on your wrist has no meaning but
to you it means help, help us escape this water before
you go overboard and drown... drown form the blood and tears,
drown form the pain inside but nobody notices a thing
maybe that's how it's supposed to be, maybe I am supposed to be drowning
maybe I should just let go and sink. And nobody would notice a thing.

Premium Member Slow and Steady Wins the Race

There is no greater feeling than to be alive and free

Spending our lives on God's green earth

Reveling in the warmth of yet another sun filled day

The rainy days are sent to us only to remind us

How much we appreciate dear old Mr. Sol

It's what keeps us alive in anticipation of his return

The sun is the source of everything we have here on Earth

We revel in it's ray but also cover up

When we get too much of a good thing

It can be extremely harmful

Which also applies to us here on earth

Everything in moderation should be our motto

It's evident every where we wander

The trick is not to go overboard

When you discover something exhilarating

Just remember, “slow and steady wins the race!”

That shouldn't stop us from enjoying life

We just need to step back every once in a while

Take stock and appreciate everything we have...

NOT what we don't have!

This may sound like a lecture from this old geezer

But there's one thing I do have...

That's a lifetime of experience

In All Things, God

Anchor your faith on God's Word,
For many fail to interpret,
Many still will go overboard
Adding to what God had set.

His Word has Power and is complete
And He sent His Spirit to teach,
All our seeking will not forfeit
Our hearts' yearning, our God to reach.

In all things He works to fulfill
His good plans for us to unfold-
And there we find His perfect will
His purpose as His Word has told.
