underneath
             the rare
   glimmer
              of a
                        pink moon

         a quietening
                        zephyr
    caresses
               silken skin
    calming
the chaos
               in my heart
    the noise
                  of
       modern
                 life feels
 increasingly
                       distant
      while
          freshly
              budding
                     leaves
                             sway
to the rhythm
            of
                  nature’s
                         pirouette
         a
            lone
                fawn
                 approaches
                         a
                   babbling
                             brook
      whilst
            I
       lay
           amongst
        emerald-green moss
  watching
      the Milky Way
                glide by
    t i m e
            seems
                       to slow
     to
    the flap
  of a
     woodcock's
            wings
                    paradise
  found
          in my remote
verdant cul-de-sac

Irony of Life

Irony of Life

In the quest for more, desires take flight,
A luxury car owner envies the jet's height.
The motorbike rider dreams of the car's gleam,
While the cyclist longs for the engine's scream.

The one on foot watches the bike glide by,
Yearning for wheels, a chance to fly.
And the one with legs, in silent plea,
Envies the walker, wishes to be free.

From planes to feet, desires interlace,
In the irony of life, we all chase but nothing.

My Favorite Part

The walking tours are lovely
On the streets of cobblestone,
With monuments and little shops
And gardens we’ve been shown.

The people we have met are cool;
It’s fun to socialize
And learn how different we all are,
Which comes as no surprise.

The food, more than I’m used to,
Varies with each sit-down meal,
With many dishes offered,
All with some unique appeal.

But still, my favorite part must be
Just sitting on the chairs
Of the balcony outside our room,
As if I had no cares.

The river churns, the swans glide by,
The scenery rolls past,
More special since I’m well aware
How short this trip will last.

Premium MemberFun In The Sun

Laid out on the beach in that warm tropical sun
Winter is on hold, while I am here to experience heaven and have some fun
The ocean waters with their bright colours call out to me to take a dip
First I must finish my mai tai with one last sip
My whole body I hope soon will turn a golden brown
Music fills the air with its soothing sounds
As I hit the water those rushing waves came in to welcome me
Never in my entire life have I felt so carefree
Out on the horizon, sailboats glide by with the help of a gentle breeze
I am going to savor every moment before I must return to the deep freeze
My camera is full of great pictures, giving me access to memories I will never forget
Leaving winter for summer is something you will never live to regret

Premium MemberSing my Swan Cantata with Me

I am a cob swan and I grace the lake
With my pen, who is my lifelong soulmate
Soon the cutest young cygnets will emerge
A major attraction upon the earth.

Have a stride beside the tulips with me
A lovelier vision there'll never be
I nod to the beauties, passing 'em by
And blink them a wink from my roving eye.

A wink is as good as a kiss from me
My beak is much too large, obviously
Tulips, they shiver and shake in reply
How I love the tulips that I glide by.

Tulips all have their own unique splendour
I couldn't decide which one I would opt for
Borders of tulips arouse my delight
When gliding on the lake, morning to night.

This is my swan cantata, sung with glee
Come along hearties, sing aloud with me
It's healthy for lungs, you're sure to agree
When strolling beside tulips merrily.

Stained Heart

Snapped like a stick, all has sprung away,
The bottled up visions just start to sway.

Each person enters through the exit door,
But they don't know what is in store.

The unsettling feeling as ghosts glide by,
Blood stains the wall where the bodies lie.

Scrunched up fists, fight versus flee,
Gloves stretched on with a smile of glee.

Clothes stained with a contained, red feeling,
Mad man eyes that will send you reeling.

Burnt out, with scribbles on paper and life,
Thinking it will eliminate the thought of knives.

Old mistakes remain, though future still waits,
Many stains, unable to rid of my old traits.

Explore a big world, and microscopic sights,
But now it's time to see the bright lights.

Open one last memory from long ago,
All the bad ones, but good ones in tow.

Together again, I hope, after the demolition,
The day I belonged in myself after the transition.

Premium MemberTropical Vacation

In our haste to pack, we left winter behind
Easy to forget with thoughts of paradise filling our minds
As we depart from the plane we are met with the warmth of the sun
Relaxation has surely taken over leading to a week of endless fun
Strolling on the beach hand and hand
Our feet are greeted by the sparkling sand
As day turns to night a romantic dinner at sea awaits
A perfect evening for love we need to create
Dolphins glide by across the pristine turquoise ocean
All in sync with their effortless motion
The silence in the air is broken as a mariachi band starts to play
What a pleasure to be part of such a wonderful day

lyrical times
         forgotten
absences now
      remembered
days pass
of
   times past

days
glide by
      so slow
 this life in the
         shadows

a bleak future
     lies ahead
in
an empty

of cold years

Premium MemberWillows Setting

Willow trees wave gently on the stream.
In the breeze, casting cover for hiding fish.
Thin trees float readily as if lost in a dream.
If only a breeze would bestow my wish.

The water played the lush leaves tenderly.
making waves that sweep across a calm lake.
Blue and green created a color so slenderly
Let us not spoil this calm scene, for God sake

Water larvae are difficult to spot.
Lovely birds with their wings held dots.
They quietly glide by on waterways.
Disrupted mirror images of the skies.

Sunlight filtering through cotton clouds.
Everybody has different faces and sounds.
Dappled shade from the summer's sunlight.
Umbrella to shelter together, in delight.

Storms have arrived and set the mood.
Natural disasters have led to limb shrewd.
The willow remains unbowed and erect.
Head held high as it stoops to connect.

Premium MemberZestful

Your inner colors,  make your life more active, passionate, and zestful. By Poet

Zenith of zeal and zonary of zealousness
It left me feeling as if I'd been enchanted.
In a man's aloof psyche lies preciousness.
Swiftly glide, by wide sea or sky, undaunted.
Hinder your hope zealous even if dreams die.
A bird with its pennons clipped can't fly.
Life is a bleak, frozen plain in the sway.
If you stayed awake with a zing and a zap
Put glory aside and pound it off with a rap.
Frost might have seen no spring in this gap.
Adopt each day with zeal and dreadlessness.
Feel sway all the way up till skies are slanted.
At its core, any demise should be given away.
Consider heeding this and reaching the cap.

here they come again
windblown fugitives of gold
dancing with flowers

movement in grassy marshes'

Premium MemberEnglish Homophones

Each bon mot melts with
Nuanced, age-old symbolic flavors --
Growing, changing, challenging me.
Language arts baffle me.
Institutional norms perplex me.
Slowly, I listen for that precise sound.
History’s echoes bounce off my walls,
Heaving meanings like so many dock workers.
Overhead, cargoes glide by glistening in the sun.
Movers eye the carts going forward.
Only I stand still.
Purposefully, I dream of…
Houses filled with treasures – elegant libraries!
Open-hearted, I find and survey my grotto.
Nothing seems impossible as I
Enter into a new dwelling and
Seek to be transformed.

Premium MemberMr Otter Nursery Rhyme

Frisky frog forgot to bathe
So off he went, to the creek
Alone in the water, he decided
He’d be so clean, he’d squeak

Silly squirrel, scattered his nuts
Along the bank where Frog swam
Sinking into the clearest water
Frog told the squirrel he should scram

Friendly fish whirled in the waves
Swaying with the chug of the water
Reminding Frog he was surely clean
So he could visit the king’s daughter

Bristly bear came across the ridge
Rattling the leaves with his great paws
The others saw him and left the creek
Recalling the fierceness of his wide jaws

Frisky frog went to visit the king
While silly squirrel packed his lunch
And, friendly fish worked up the nerve
To glide by bristly bear – and on a hunch…

They all thanked God for this water
Where they finally met Mr. Otter!

Premium MemberDevotion Poem This Waltz

Devotion Poem **This Waltz**

I believe this waltz is yours, my darling,
As you commanded the band to “Play!”
And the opals to hang from this ballroom’s ceiling
Like stars spellbinding shinning to display
Again our coupled dance of circles around
Heaven in such joy-dreamed lives as we’ve found.

Take my hand and embrace my waist that waits for you
To begin this evening’s waltz — as history’s true lovers knew
Will dissolve the floor and renew
Our magic to send all the others off enroute
   To Otherwise…As here we two
Glide by this waltz into a wild as few others ever do.

The waltz keeps her notes
Cosmic high — astride gossamer lines that reach along
On throughout space — to weave the destinies
Of its found dancers, like us, with our hearts drawn
Yearning eternally to partner in love’s composed melodies —
One waltz to follow another on and on…
