Glancing at the glaring green of Summer,
wanting to wake the leaves and snow,
get on with aging’s beauty and bone-chilling
sacrifice of warmth. That is when I wrap
my flesh in scarves, boot-up my strength
to taste flakes and kick-up variegated fall
of shapes. A plot of hearty pumpkins; blink
of time; it’s childhood scent and scoop.
Engaged in Starbucks’ hook of latte, festive
espresso, pumpkin, and seasonal spices.
Don’t let me get started on those finger snacks.
Candy corn and Diet Coke, go together; we
go together, naturally, having an October birthday.
Shouldn’t…I can feel the finger wags; and the scolding.
Poetry written for a week, at a time, with no rests.
Lyrical chattering, children of mine; I should leap
to my feet. It’s one-something and I still need to eat.

June
Spring is starting to fade
Summer is ready to get started
Berries are ripening
Flowers are blooming
Homegrown vegetables are right around the corner
I dreamed about this time of year
As snow and temps were falling
Though I enjoyed the hibernation
I look forward to sun kissed skin
Hello June, I missed you
Better Get Going
I better get started
Time is running out
The sooner I get started
The better the poem should be
I’d have been better off starting earlier
But I am a procrastinator so I am never better at poetry
Maybe today I will be better off writing later
But then again, I probably won’t be better
I better hurry, my time is almost over
So, this poem is all I can do
I will try to be better
Or not.
My bedroom is such a mess
The room of a hoarder
It makes me feel depressed
I am exhausted when I open the door to it
I can barely climb over the stuff and flop on the bed.
I would clean it but I am too tired to get started.
Start with one box, my friends say.
I did that a few years ago.
It did not help much.
Mess creates depression
Depression inspires exhaustion
Exhaustion spells nap.
loving yourself is not easy
you have to lose yourself first
in something you adore
a hobby that you can do by yourself
something that engrosses you
that you can do for eight hours
eight hours?
yes!
at least, maybe more
I can draw cartoons for eight hours
I can paint for eight hours
I can write poetry for eight hours
There are lots of things I cannot do for eight hours
Those are things that do not help me love myself
Knowing this, I concentrate on the things I adore
The hobbies that I can do
by myself, with myself
and for myself
If you have not found these hobbies yet,
it is time to get started.
She wanted to tell the tale of the witch’s shoe
Don’t you mean boot? Asked my cousin Dew.
No, it’s a shoe, she said, adamant about this.
He rolled his eyes at this inexperienced miss.
Once upon a light pole, she said as she looked at the book.
I think you mean once upon a time, said my Auntie Hook.
The reader was getting exasperated, and rightly so.
Let her get started! I begged, I saw she was ready to blow.
The speaker ended up throwing the book in the air.
She performed a witchdoctor’s dance right there in the lair.
I was terrified now, for you do not annoy my Aunt Mare.
Everyone scattered – some running off to the world’s fair.
one more small entry to get started
have a wonderful night
thank you
"unexplainable"
why does life halt when I see you
why have you chased me so
and why have our hearts begun to beat
you stand with me
I walk with you
and so it goes
the sight of you hypnotizes me
the pursuit of us ignites you
and love is unexplainable

below is a small entry to get started again
my mind has become mush
may it be a toast and celebration of the good life (smile)
I am trying to catch up so I will see you on your pages
thank you
"a cabaret life"
waiting to breathe a wondrous cabaret life
we wake with suns and start our days
we sleep with moons and end our nights
in between we journey with same routines
only to realize our circle is the dream
and the wonder of it all is there to hold
dancing our way to beats of a cabaret life

There's just too many fools
In the U.S.A. today
We have to find a cure
And this is what I say
Your hatred and your bile
Just really make me sick
So take a little poison
And that should do the trick
Cyanide and suicide
Both go hand in hand
A needed epidemic
To spread across the land
The things you all believe
Embracing it as fact
Do the rest of us a favor
And commit this final act
The sooner you get started
The better it will be
Now pop a couple pills
And set our country free
Don't worry about the pain
'Cause you won't feel a thing
Your sacrifice tendered
Can only help freedom ring
This is it time is up ,
life finaly found me.
Going blindly forth through foggy sea
Thought I knew so much
Though I learned later I hadn't a hunch
Are you where you want to be
Has life gone and set you free
Is life but a party time
Didn't then care to reason or rhyme
The wolf that came out to play
Always seems to hide during the day
Always looking for a place to stay
Riding far across my time from there to here
I saw that past ghost only live were there's fear
It is hauntingly familiar
and so damn peculiar
Why you must always live it twice
To win would be so nice
But nothing ever happens if your not willing to try
Sitting there silent forever pondering why
There is no secret
On getting ahead
Simply takes just to get started ,but you sit there instead
Wasting slowly away while life passes you by
Why do you even cry
When it's yourself to blame
Given many chances but it always ends the same
So you fail.
In life, sometimes you just got to bail
Empty that bucket and Start anew
Forget about what you thought you knew
It's time you stepped up and grew
It was the Emperor's birthday.
The Coliseum was sold out.
All over the Cityyou could hear
The people laughs and shout.
First came on the animals
In the early evening heat'
Not much fun once They’d had
enough Christians to eat.
The came on the gladiators
All dressed up to thrill,
Because it was Caesar's birthday
They weren't allowed to kill.
Then came the speciality act,
The deflowering of a hundred maids
All tastefully laidout
Under transparent sunshades.
Out strode the proud Nubian
Dressed In G string and sarong
Eager to get started at
The clash of the gong.
First three dispatched with ease
He stiffened, clasped his head
And without further ado
Fell down stone deaded dead.
In the stunned silence
The promoters was heard to stay
He was fine at dress rehearsal
Earlier on today.
It being a little early
To send the crowd home
They had a little riot
And they burned down Rome.
The Emperor got excited
And quickly joined
Swaying to the flames as
He played his violin.
That's how the Empire ended
By contemporary description;
How different it could have been
With Viagara on prescription.
Ti was impatient to get started
His grandfather ate his breakfast too slowly
You have all day, his grandmother said. Relax.
Ti was not the relaxed type, he took after his father.
They arrived at the water’s edge
His grandfather said “Guess what boat is mine”.
He knew it would not be the colorful one.
There was nothing colorful about either of his grandparents.
His grandfather waited.
“The colorful one,” Ti guessed, knowing
grandfather would be pleased to have fooled him.
“You are exactly right!”
This was a side of grandfather he had never seen.
He could not wait to push out from shore.
He had a million questions.
Realizing now that he did not know his grandparents at all.
Maybe his father had been keeping secrets.
Z is an entertainment committee of one.
Party does not get started until she arrives.
Rest of us tell stories about Z.
Filling up the restaurant with laughter.
We keep looking at the door, expectantly.
An hour goes by.
Now two.
Someone asks if we have heard from her.
No one has.
Thirty minutes later a phone rings.
Our stories have slowed to a stop.
We are staring at each other, nothing in common.
A bunch of relatives who do not know each other.
“Z is not coming,” a great aunt says. “She has strep throat”.
Most of us would not have come if we had known.
A fool and his money, soon parted
Financial advisor down-hearted
Great offer you see
Buy two, pay for three
A dozen I bought to get started
