Space Buggy

They built an A.T.V.
and sent it to Ganymede.
It was programmed to go
here and there.

Time passed,
NASA diminished,
there were staff depletions.

The unit sensed
that it had been abandoned.

Eons skipped on by
the worse got worse,

The moon-buggy (for Ganymede is a moon),
watched as planet earth
went POOF
dispersing like dandelion seeds
on a solar wind.

If the space-cart could have shrugged,
it would have
however, it just softly beeped,
kept moving from there to over there.

Turns out it had a really, really good battery.

Premium MemberPhebe, He Is Not What He Seems To Be

I'm sorry to disappoint you, shepherdess Phebe,
but your love for Ganymede can never be.
You are not perspicacious enough to realize
that Ganymede is actually a woman in disguise.
This woman's name is Rosalind, and she seeks Orlando.
Her true identity is something too few people know.
However, recall shepherd Silvius whose love is true.
He appears to be an ideal partner for you.

Premium MemberRosalind and Orlando

Orlando has written a lot of love poetry.
Written on leaflets, they have been placed on every tree.
Ubiquitous in the Arden woods, they are easy to see.
Orlando expresses his love for Rosalind freely.
His wording is not good, and his rhymes are lousy.

Rosalind now roams these woods, but is not alone.
Joining her are cousin Alena and the fool named Touchstone.
However, Rosalind's identity you will not recognize.
She is now called Ganymede, and is a man in disguise.
Since you defeated Charles the wrestler, she's been in love with you.
A reuniting with Rosalind is just about due.

Premium MemberIo

Four moons orbiting Jupiter were discovered by Galileo.
He named them Europa, Ganymede, Callisto, and Io.
Several unmanned space probes were sent there recently.
They revealed things no earth-bound sky watcher could see.
Of special interest was the Jovian moon Io.
This body has many an active volcano.
Io is literally turning itself inside-out.
This makes the moon the most fascinating without a doubt.

Premium MemberI Am King Titan Saturn's Moon

I am puffed and proud, and full of myself.
You may call me King Titan, and stand back.
I am enormous, bigger than Mercury.
Saturn has eighty-two moons, but I am her pride and joy.
I am second largest only to one, Ganymede.
She is attached to Jupiter, though, and I do not play well with him.
I am attached to Saturn. Oh, Saturn, I love you! Oh, oh, oh, oh, Saturn!
Twenty-four of Saturn’s moons are regular satellites.
They bother me not in the least.
I am puffed and proud, and full of myself.
I am King Titan, I stand up and am counted.
My co-moon, Hyperion is locked in with me.
We are keenly aware of how important we are to Saturn.
Oh, Saturn, we love you! Oh, oh, oh, oh, Saturn!

"Dream Swimmers"

Jack of Hearts
Played his sleeve
Violins, no less,

Crossing Deep Oceans
with strange tides

Entranced

Buggy Blues

In the soon to be future
they built an A.T.V.
and sent it to Ganymede.
It was ordered to go
here and there,
to dig and scan - it obeyed.

Time passed,
samples were sent back
for analysis.
Eventually NASA diminished,
there were staff depletions.
SpaceX had other projects.

The unit sensed
that it had been abandoned…
needing a purpose, it communicated
with aliens,
kvetching, and disaffected interlopers
hell bent on the annihilation
of Earth.

The moon-buggy (for Ganymede is a moon),
watched as planet earth
went poof,
dispersing like dandelion seeds
on a solar wind.

If the space-cart could have shrugged,
it would have.

A Paining

walking through the dark
long strides, not looking
the eyes all on me
burning, the smell of hate
rising through the leaves
my thoughts are coming
just one of many
dripping from graceful mouths
she said goodbye to the airless room
the men stared, some looked away
droning on, so far down now
dont want to look up
the dirt is shoveled slovenly down
the still flowers running in the ground
with colours, on crude cloth
cobalts in wasted tubes
oily fingers pressed softly
to a sound of moons colliding
holes and craters vibrated
a solitary gun strays into view
an alien planet like ganymede
dead like seasides and lavender fields
crimson earth with white ash
soft in the shadows of destitute women
cold as the door closes on them
my father looks at me
a last look of distanced remorse
nothing shining in the dark now
I am afraid
windows hiding the faces
making out the shapes
as its driving away I sink inside
and day dawns to metallic chords
a brown radio blares on but dead
I can paint now she has gone

The Moons of Jupiter

could someone please tell me

of the moons intentions

and of their affair

with Jupiter's rings

when lo and behold

Io has a fire in her belly

snowy volcanic fields

burning ice in her spring

Europa stands by

displaying cold shoulders

with oceans below

life she does bring

brother Ganymede

pulls it together

dark are his regions

light his terrain

beaten and battered

Callisto the stepchild

unchanged in its matter

and the song that it sings

is this all true

of Jupiter's moons

and of their intentions

could someone tell me

Ganymede

A somber dome protected fondly from the heights
Of solitude by hawkish eyes was found at length
By Jupiter in his relentless storm of lights.
In there lay, hidden from all view, a youth whose strength
And beauty could ensorcel any heart and spark long fights
Among all those who’d lay their eyes
Upon a gem which all restraint defies.

The master of the heavens, in a show of skill,
Engulfed the tower in a ceaseless rain of gold
To kidnap fair-eyed Ganymede and then, at will,
To bring this shepherd to Olympus, in a bold
Attempt his fondest wishes to fulfill.
And thus, borne high on eagle’s wings,
A lad outdid the fame of kings.

Beasts From Ganymede

When they decided to leave their small planet, these Gamymades had already
conquered Junipter, Pluto and Venus and planned to seize the Moon and Mars;
these huge, horrifying beasts with swarthy, hard skin and bellicose eyes so fiery
can set stones ablaze with their breath and make smoke rise higher than clouds...
be advice they may invade Earth and destroy everything we built over the ages.

The Beasts From Ganymede

When they decided to leave their dwarf planet, these Gamymades had already
conquered Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus and planned to seize Venus and Mars;
they are huge, horrifying beasts with swarthy, hard skin and bellicose eyes so fiery...
they set soil ablaze with their hard breath, making smoke rise higher than clouds:
be warned, they'll invade Earth and enslave us and destroy all we built over the ages!
