for only a day
once, so long ago,
we ran through plowed fields,
barely missing sharp glass fragments
and jagged rocks
and never missing opportunities
to laugh and stumble over one another
it was easy to hide from approaching cars
and imaginary pirates
swinging galvanized swords
tears and blood were hidden in mud streaks
and wishes drowned in grass roots
where summer days covered the field
with corn stalks and blackberries
memories of childhood were
stolen away by nightmares
of shallow streams
and blueberry bruises
at days end we retreated
to trivial encampments
within our minds
concealed barricades and crumbling forts
were whisked away
stolen by afternoon winds
fear, that dominant master,
directed us home
pouring emptiness into places
where hope lived
for only a day

Finally, two embroidery projects that I have finished.
One to keep and one to give.
A cute building appeared underneath this poem.
Inside, along the L shaped benches,
He sat at the desk, surfed on the internet,
And comfortably crossed his long, lower legs.
His second home was embroidered
On a simple white material,
The red galvanized walls on top,
Housing the Child Care Centre.
The glass windows framed with silver metal,
Located on the ground floor,
In front and on the side of the building,
The wear and tear black wooden columns,
Side by side unevenly standing in silence,
Covering most of the building glass surfaces.
On the right hand side,
A long and wide concrete foot path,
Leading to the front entrance,
Before joining the back garden.
Once inside, there are many facilities,
And well equipped amenities.
So many fond memories, engraved in my heart,
Written on my phone and also stored in my USB.
I now put these down to embroidery
To commemorate once my favorite library,
It ended since the day it went like this .........

Judy’s catchy enthusiasm galvanized our pirate crew
so we set sail down the seven seas, ocean blue
yo-ho-ho- we sang loudly, merry and gay
other fearsome pirate ships moved out of our way
excitement permeated our mission, our spirits high
we kissed all our hardships, doubts and do nots goodbye
stirred up, we were filled with crazy amounts of joy and glee
ready to be as evil and mean as Simon La Gree
We are going to make our enemies walk the plank we sang
giving exuberant cheers, our enthusiasm as loud as a bang
we snarled and grouched, and fought over who would be chief
arguing all the way to the largest West Indies big reef
she had set our hearts afire, giving us confidence galore
We were still arguing about it, when we reached a sandy shore
in a very short time, our Judy was elected captain by a vote
I could not argue about it in this island, remote

Clouds in a Walmart mirror.
The galvanized roof is
eclectically painted and rattling
its shifting shadows.
Some mutter,
hurry to the unmanned checkouts,
some seek a deeper shelter in the
sporting goods aisle's
The distant sounds of fire engines
and sirens,
a howling chorus of trepidation.
Outside in the midday gloom
parking-lot geese
are forming escape lines.
Squirrels gawp and chatter,
hit the ground running.
Another shoplifting tornado
has come to town,
pushing empty carts ahead
of its imminent funnel of fear.
A store greeter
grins like death,
as the gatecrashing wind
steals his breath.
The aftermath has yet to be counted,
though bargain priced Chinese calculators
are readily on sale everywhere.

I've settled deep within the void,
An emptiness I cannot afford,
It's a journey of infinite tears,
My old age betraying my younger years.
Meds, they linger in my throat,
Hoping, on them I choke,
I wash it down with galvanized steel,
Nope, no thought to repeal.
I am a malignant star,
Nestled deep within a canyon scar,
Blurting out "all hope is lost!"
Covering my eyes, so as not to see the cost.
Brokenness, it did me in,
A lifetime of hell, for a lifetime of sin,
If you love me, don't even bother,
Just let me settle in to the void, for just
Pennies on the dollar.

She wandered like a gypsy to Wyoming,
Where she settled in and sojourned for a spell.
She found herself a billet at the Hog Ranch,
And son, there weren’t no high-tone clientele.
It was just a soiled dove’s privy crib
Where Martha Jane set up her chicken coop.
She was a cowhand’s heartthrob,
All buckskin and sutler whiskey.
She could drive a team of oxen.
She could drive a man to sin.
Times she frequented Old Bedlam,
Drillin’ with them soldier boys;
Some were galvanized Yankees,
Some were mere tenderfoot lads.
When she wasn’t barkin’ at a knot,
She’d be somewhere raisin’ sand.
She considered each calamity
That buggered her contentment
As just another maverick to brand.

In the Land of Opportunity
Entitlement reared her pretty head
Without a backstop to plain bad luck
Social Security's safety net was spread
Next came the 'War on Poverty'
Food Stamps and ADC
It might have staved off hunger for a bit
But dependency was galvanized, and (yes), obesity
Today there is unprecedented help
for anyone who will only yelp
Free computer classes, GED, ESL too
Guaranteed Job Training programs in high schools
and community colleges, Yahoo!
Yet the percentage of those working has gone down
and dropping most free classes reigns supreme
Seems that 'giving away the farm'
won't bring back the American Dream
It's only one man's unscientific perception ~
but 'teaching a man to fish' still passes inspection

Outside the sanctum, clenched teeth, tension,
a sense of being spun slowly, in comical ocean drift
Bobbed cork barely able to rein my orientation.
Luckily, current flux of haphazard happening flapped
a variable vantage.
Blown as though by silk hankie butterfly blessing
launched under lead light detail dragonfly wing
Inside the sluice.
tender seagrass arms greet me, surprise caressed
Silky entry to a tepid tub, a calm community
of smug inner sanctum club members, afloat.
Blind to bedlam, their faces automatically accepting
Smarmy, aloof, knowing the code
Clicked into correct holding pattern
Galvanized now among the longed for,
unlocked passage
Boasts a right angled me, porthole refuge
Catatonic sanctum immune to struggle
Bay of steady abundance
Top step mission for admission somehow granted mine
Spotlight shon on my cloned social demeanor,
Meticulously honed modesty of highbrow gallery.

His soft whisperings melt me like butter,
His sensual touches trigger heart flutter.
His galvanized gaze sends shock through my core,
His puissant presence pours in every pore.
His youthful gait makes me run after him,
His six pack begs to elope at a whim.
His sardonic wit sets me to snicker,
His flamboyant car turns on my flicker.
His baritone banter - pure caress,
His fatal attraction's hard to suppress.
His coy discretion is high on my list,
His subtle advances - hard to resist.
If dreams came true I would not ask for more -
He is everything I ever wished for!
Some fantasies are as real as they seem -
I have been happily married! To him!

The sky was an iron skillet
To heaven it crept and filled it
Swallowed the color from every eye
An iron skillet was the sky
The earth no glint of morning touched
Fields swept black, the horizon crushed
To dawn the dark would not give birth
No glint of morning touched the earth
On the galvanized drummed the rain
Rivulets streaked the window pane
The ground it splattered and atomized
The rain drummed on the galvanized
Warm and tight you wrapped around me
In morningtide we could not see
I loved you through that stormy night
You wrapped around me warm and tight

PRODIGAL SON
Prodigal son I was
I lived a wayward life
Indeed a promiscuous
A boy with a sinister heart
I didn't respect no one
Nothing to lose, but all to gain
Nor was I scared from anyone
In my young heart it reigned
I lived in the streets
With my friends by my side
I didn't heed to my parents' advise
Nor from the teachers sent by God
In my brood, I was the black sheep
In school, I was the teachers’ antagonist
A bad influence I was branded
To my townspeople, I was bad indeed
I was eighteen when He touched my heart
I was confounded, baffled and dazed
What is this Lord?, I soliloquized
Change! Change! Is what I realized
I prayed to the Lord God
" What should I do my Lord?" I asked
" Be my servant, to me He replied
Then my faith, He concretized and galvanized
I am now teaching the Good Tidings
For men to be saved from impending judgment
From the Lake of Fire on the Day of recompense
That the Kingdom of God they may inherit.

Slick, quick, lickety split
Opportunity arrives on spot
The gilded glide, slides
To take possession of her lot
Chunks of honey drips, drops
Off lips of galvanized gold
Sounds of flowering rounds
To soften the hardened blow
Click, tick, lock and load
Up the ladder she goes
Floor after floor, opening doors
Til her glory radiates constant glow
Raising daisies gather gorges
For loser cruisers to fall
Altitude attitude flicks the ticks
Without a thought of remorse for the small
...as her schmuser cruiser zooms by

A cold brown face
Presently displaced
Seedingly angry
Compelling a jealous rage

Pearl white teeth
Surrounded by a mouth that speaks
Growing lines spitting lies
Truths in disguise galvanized

Inert by the hurt
In my brain it drives me insane
This carnal rage with lust respite,
Hanging on to life with hands of sleight
Caught in the middle nothing real feels right
It might be drugs so take a pass
No its not that easy aloof, alone, alas...
Left bewildered, confused, misunderstood and broken
To sinking deeper into muddy waters, sullen
This open wound has formed a cyst
Why do you insist on this you pessimist?
It's not my fault stop pointing back. ("Ok, persist")
And why do you always fold when you should play the hand?
It's not too hard to go all in just slam it like a man
Your time is up I'm through with it I've really got to go.
I hope you love the life you chose
I'll make sure to leave a rose.

I close the door and I shut my eyes
Trans-dimensional synthesize
Explore some more and synchronize
Under the oculus I scrutinize
Polyhedral fractals in disguise
As tessellated crystals in blue skies
In spatiotemporal waters I'm baptized
My hopes and dreams are galvanized
I scribble and scratch and memorize
While I can barely visualize
I pause and ruminate then overemphasize
Yet I can barely verbalize
What have I seen? What does it mean?
Alpestrine thoughts of the unforeseen
What can I glean from the crazy scene
That left me bereft of manner and mien?
