Fuse Poems

Premium MemberCatastrophic Fuse

I am so inflamed a blizzard is falling,
every toxin taken in I’ve been stalling.
Ice rains as magma plows the ground,
a lethal storm arrives without a sound.

Laying the land to waste in an instant,
it is best to let a disaster stay dormant.
There’s nothing to grasp once it is loose,
you touched off a catastrophic fuse.

Weather you could never prepare for,
should have thought about that before.

With fury next to impossible to diffuse,
be careful the words that you choose.
This pattern of rage is not intermittent,
it will do what it does never quite spent.

Frozen daggers wield a temper unbound
such icy eyes a Cat 6 is now crowned.
Uncontrolled smite is now overflowing
devastation is all that is left standing.

Intent On Camping

Not your ordinary, average date,
a country ramble,
a stile a gate,
and here's the pitch,
“We won't go far, or stay up late.”
Now he and she sitting silently,
beside the flickering fire,
innocently she believes, camping separately
within tent, is where they will retire.
But his fuse was lit
when first they met,
longingly he knows and yet,
that's not what's on his mind,
nor what he really meant,
hoping she'll yield in the field,
he's bent on camping with intent.

Some lit fuse

In bed I feel
I gave up on you
I have been lying to myself
If I told you I'm sorry
I broke your heart
the cadence dont rhythm
What am I to do
to err on love
like some lit fuse

Lighting The Fuse

A Poet is not like other writers …
all narrative be damned

Charging and fusing each word with a spark
redundancy to ban

Poets and Novelists both drawn to the fire
their kindling looks the same

The differences clear when striking a match
— poetic verse rising in flames

Can Someone Please Light the Fuse

My trauma cost me everything
My trauma cast them away
My trauma haunts my days
Steals my nights
Takes control of all my thoughts
Takes the angels let's the demons stand tall
My trauma is the cause for all my effects
This legacy of hurt
This foundation of rage
Let's my trauma build these walls brick by brick
This kinda of trauma don't have a purpose
But oh its all so important to me
Shuts all them out
Shuts me all in
Consumes all the light
Dark at dawn
Trauma opens my eyes
I can't escape its chains
Can't break its locks
Carry its ball and chain wherever I go
This trauma is my destruction
Can someone please light the fuse.

                                  Consider a smarter analysis
                            - loveliness immortal with a squeeze

If you have a short fuse
                                            - learn to lose

Fuse Box

Thrown like a fuse box
I was torn between the seasons
October put me through Autumn and Winter
I hadn't a clue
I was lost in the Sand
which made me feel indifferent
The Moon in shade
the white orchids in bloom
I needed to unlock the sleepy hollow,
always on an unending road
their chosen zigzag
like old boots and kettles for inheritance

Blown Fuse

I won’t be parading to honour the dead.

Something’s gone pear-shaped inside my head.

All the guilt and confusion that have built through the years

Have blown out the fuse in the space ’tween my ears.

I don’t know the reason, can’t explain why it’s so.

All the rest are parading, but me? I can’t go.

Fuse Memories To Your Soul

Pets come in all shapes and sizes. This poem is in awe of those fluffy, irresistible, cuteness overload pets that take over our lives and our hearts.

Fuse memories to your soul
By Michelle Morris
20/12/2022

These furry beasts
These ferocious furballs of love
They can maul you with cuddles
They can upend you with hugs

Such irresistible cuteness
Such an overload of fluff
You cannot resist the onslaught
They'll keep you away from work

They can trip you up
And make you fall
They'll bring you to tears
And become your whole world

For nothing can compare
To that fluffy, adorable face
When it snuggles up beside you
Or wakes you for food or space

They'll take up the whole bed
They'll take up your whole heart
They'll take over your life
They'll give you joy beyond the stars

Our pets define us
They are part of your life and home
They bring you joy and laughter
They'll fuse memories to your soul

Light the Fuse and Wait

An applecart of half-eaten ideas
pushed into sight by heavyweight ghosts.

Wormwood and cider
the aroma of root beer in a lit-up air.

The poet pauses….judges the hunger
of his next line
to fulfill the wishes of finger-following gods.

Orchard trees separate, bow out of the crowd
to stand alone in the spaces between the words.

Sandalwood is harvested for the coming cremation,
the fire tongs are white hot
as they pluck burning fruit
out of the furnace of an Archean Ur
where the charred apples find grazing mouths

Nature mulches in the churning
now the apple is in the maggot
ready to sour or delight.

Wool gathering shepherds guide their flocks
from the pulverizing organs
of creation
into valleys of dark and light.

Autumn Fuse

Twas an Autumn pink,
when my heart did sink,
she had alleged, loving has edged,
Twas an Autumn blue,
when I'd heard tis true,
let us not stall, it's on the wall,
Twas an Autumn red,
when you'd always said,
it's not exact, it won't yield back,
Twas an Autumn gray
when I heard you say,
that we are through, I'm done with you,
Twas an Autumn black
an old friend named Jack,
intro'd my girl, who was my world,
Now that winter has come around,
a lamb was lost; a man was found.

Fuse

When a battery corrodes it leaks
but life, life slow burns,
nothing leaks out
until the energy explodes.
Peaceful and violent death may come
but inner death is a birthing
it cycles and recycles many times
a slow burn
until that womb you hide and carry
from one dark node to another
that too explodes.
Then the light shovels you out
one smoldering organ at a time
until you are full of a hollow grace,
then you can take your leave,
and die in the world shucked
from flesh-stealing time,
but the surprise is in the fuse
(it always is),
that will bring you wide-eyed
to an afterlife as if its length
had not stuttered or spluttered
for one instant
since the thought of you existed.

Premium MemberMy Muse Has Blown a Fuse

Soul droops when the weather is wet,
darkened days, drizzle on windows,
Wife watching same soaps,I detest,
no one to talk, no friends, no foes!

Birds take a nap in their hideouts,
cat warming up near fire place,
some eager sports, fishing for trouts,
mystery read, close book,shut case.

Hunger features when day is dull,
seek slice of bread to get undone,
warm herbal tea to light up skull,
to wake up muse and have some fun!

Hazard an attempt with my pen,
old fashioned, paper and pen style,
but ink is dry, thoughts frozen,
wait! my verse will flow in a while!

My Muse Blew a Fuse

my muse blew a fuse and ran far away fast
I'm guessing to happen figured here now at last
yet it's kind of beguiling the way I'm still smiling
cause I should be upset at the rift that's declining
all the space I need swiftly to help me be thrifty
moving on with my life as it's no longer nifty
to be lost at the top of your game and you're blasted
from losing all sense of things thought to be mastered
but I'll still try to better the things that are past
my muse blew a fuse and ran far away fast
