Premium Member Fake Gurus

YouTube has a plethora of spiritual videos
Pseudo gurus haven
Most of them are out to make a fast buck
Aided by grave faces unshaven

Let’s take the Tantra energy path for example
With a view to energising chakras seven
Esoteric forced practices are proffered
These gurus promising to take us to heaven

Be wary folks and use no intermediary
For God dwells in the cave of each soul’s heart
If we be pure, childlike and gentle
Assuredly one day we will feel bliss ignition start

Kundalini, Chi or Holy Spirit as divine energy is called
It is not something external to our innate being
Path to ascent is simple but ego cravings complicate
Clear seeing simply requires with throb of love agreeing

Premium Member I Walked Away From the Fast Bucks

I took that walk thru the forest of redemption
I followed a trail and saw normal people
However, I wasn't one of them
At that time, I was like that hamster on a wheel
Running in circles with the dark side
Dodging the law
Everyday I could be found in a pool hall
Consorting with the cons, crooks and druggies
I continued on that trail
When I did come to a lake I saw my reflection
And in the same light, I saw a thug
That wasn't for me, my piece of pie
I'm more of an admirer of nature
Rabbits, squirrels and singing birds
That's what I wanted, being normal
Seeing the light, seeing the forest
Instead of being on the dark side
Being behind the eight ball
During those years, I wasn't a blossom
Seven years shady under a fruitless tree
That was my spill and spiel
I walked away
I walked away from that sad song
And treadmill
Who cares about a fast buck
... and knowing where I was ...
I much rather be a slow deer

I chose to run, but had I stayed, things would have been like Poetry Contest

Ama Anthem

American doctors all suck
We're in it to make a fast buck
Your meds cost a bunch
So eat pills for lunch
And pray God has blessed you with luck!

Strong Communities

Strong communities,
We all can see,
Are less often at sea,
More often home for tea,
With all cakes file free.

Strong communities,
Have no need for rate fees hikes,
As they mostly ride their bikes,
And tend to build their own dykes,
Never encouraging the fast buck types.

Strong communities,
Produce the good sorts,
Who are happy to wear their shorts,
Play their sports,
And share their thoughts on their little bits of paradise.

Strong communities never compromise,
When watching the sun rise,
Or helping a mate realize,
How much of a prize,
Is a community on the rise.

Premium Member Fast Buck Freddie

Fast Buck Freddie,
     Was an interesting guy
He could sell you a bakery
     When you needed a pie

He could hustle a jacket
     In the middle of summer
Or unload a pool
When you asked for a plumber

And as he was also an amorous fellow
The ladies had better be ready
For nothing seems to cramp the style
Of the infamous Fast Buck Freddie

Premium Member If You Know What I Mean

Testing his role as a friend,
he bluffs his way past mistakes.
Believing friendships end,
he oft gives less than he takes.

Much like a jester of old,
his wit is honed sharp and quick.
And he struts, cocky and bold,
with guile and a tongue too slick.

Chasing love and doing dope,
his future seems somewhat bleak.
For dreams addicted to hope
often devastate the weak.

Conniving for a fast buck,
he treats life like a con game.
And willing to press his luck,
given ash, he'll conjure flame.

His hands are covered in dirt,
yet music plays in his soul.
And broken by years of hurt,
it's clear; time levied its toll.

He is known for cavorting
with women, tall, dark, and lean.
But he's fond of distorting
truths; if you know what I mean.

You'D Better Return Those Pets

You've been in my neighborhood today, that's where I've seen you lurch.
You've been taking people's cats and dogs to sell them for research.
You'd better put my cat down and I mean now!
What you're doing is something I won't allow.
You'd better return those pets or it will be something you'll regret.
I'll make you pay for taking my neighbors' pets.
I'm going to call the Humane Society on you.
You think I'm bluffing but what I say is true.
You planned to sell these pets to make a fast buck.
You disgust me and you've just ran out of luck.
It won't bother me one bit to send your sorry ass to jail.
You thought you'd get away with it but you've been nailed.
You're making me angry and we're about to have a row.
You'd better return those pets and I mean right now!

(Even though this poem is fictional, many animals need protection from research.)
