Ama Anthem

American doctors all suck
We're in it to make a fast buck
Your meds cost a bunch
So eat pills for lunch
And pray God has blessed you with luck!

We used to go and get a script for one medicine now we go to the pharmacy with a script, and we walk out with nearly half a basket full, of which half of those we even need. Perhaps Doctors and Pharmacies are in cahoots? well said Rico, Yasou, Jennifer.

Even more criminal! Consider that American doctors tell their patients they must protect their eyes and skin from the harmful rays of the sun knowing that doing so will invariably result in myopia, skin cancer, and an host of other ailments which will make their patients life-long customers. The rest of the world knows daily exposure to sunshine is essential to good health.

Yes, I've just been mis-diagnosed by two different hospitals; one did it three times! They also gave me medications that I was allergic to; even though they were on my allergy list. Apparently, medical schools don't seem to be training physicians anymore; they only thing they really learn is how to write prescriptions and then, only for the newest medications. It's very difficult to find a good honest one, anymore; the search took me a decade. Your Limerick is sheer truth!

Hippocrates wrote that there was no illness which could not be cured by food (diet), but the AMA business model is simply to make lifetime customers with very expensive placebo or detrimental prescriptions and follow-up office visits. There is no intention to cure. You need to visit another country for a cure - or affordable meds! Aloha! Rico

Sooo true, Rico! Although I have a good doctor now, there are some who appear to be more interested in padding their bank accounts than in helping patients. In countries like England, healthcare is free. There will be presidential candidates favoring universal health care in 2020. Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are among them. We have to study the issues before voting if we want our health care to improve! Excellent limerick, Rico!

Please refer to Page 22 in the January 2019 issue of National Geographic where anyone as dumb as Donald Trump can see the USA is the ONLY "developed" nation sans Universal Heathcare and ranked LOWEST in longevity and HIGHEST in healthcare costs by an extravagant margin. Breaking news, but Trump and Congress want everyone to focus on a non-essential Wall! Aloha! Rico

My son born in Tasmania (cost $A0) my daughter born in Wales (cost £0); my sister gave birth in Los Angeles, was in and out of hospital same day @ $3,000+. Which family gave their children the best start in life? Page 22 in the January 2019 edition of National Geographic shows how stupid Americans are to continue supporting healthcare for profit, so thank you for your remark! Aloha! Rico
