ALREADY GONE

We did not notice at first—
the small rebellions of memory:
a forgotten kettle on the stove,
the absurd claim that Tuesday had vanished,
names reshuffled as if in a deck too often played.

The mind does not fall—it recedes,
a shoreline eroded not by storms
but by silent, persistent tides.
Each day an abrasive grain,
each night a hush over once-luminous thought.

i overheard

she happened to glance at me
and by 6:03
i happened to think
what if she said 
“get well”
and i don’t know who
and i wasn’t there
but i know 
when i’ve heard it before 
if it wasn’t condescendingly
had one pound of empathy 
i would’ve been 
more likely

Storms in Silent Corners

A jolt of trembling steel—
a crack that doesn’t shatter,
but ripples,
sending storms into every silent corner.
Cries fold in on themselves,
tight, suffocating strands,
all tangled too deep to get air.

This is the weight of love unreturned:
a death that breathes,
a life that drifts—
distilled by sorrow so pure
it makes its escape past the body’s treachery,
wetting the memory of the quiet

shadow of intent

ill never get used to
the numbness that tinges away at everything

or technical things to tweak

As centuries pass
The seas advance

Painted Desert

Hiking along the canyon wall
It’s hard to take it in at all
Reaching so tall, for the sky
Looming there, majestic and grand
And yet a castle made of sand
So oddly planned, wonder why

Some time in eons past, it split,
Beginning as a narrow slit
Widening, lit just at noon
Time is patient and undeterred
