Hard Fighting Mother

Being a mother to adult sons is wonderful
and hard and everything in between
I am a hard praying, hard fighting, mama
when I need to be, but I am also a soft
spoken, sweet encourager when it warrants

Mental Illness and Substance use have made
my role harder and more needed than many
moms of grown men, but I am just thankful
that I still have the role of mother to both of my
amazing sons, because it has come close too many times

It feels like I am fighting death for my son's life
and I will FIGHT for him.  I will show up when he
needs me, even when the sight is something that
no mother should have to see and I have sat in
hospital rooms way, too often

I feel like I am also fighting for my son that is not
ill, but has a heavier burden to carry due to his brother's
condition.  Such heavy issues weigh on a person's heart
and can cause so much emotional pain, but I promise,
I will pray and fight for my sons as long as I have breath.

Gives to us e support or relief, to nourishes, to support the weight of,

I think love is the key to most locks, joy is attainable, peace is achievable.

I fear being trapped, being paralyzed, being insignificant.

Once upon a time there was church verger,
Who had been an encourager and an urger;
With his staff,
Would hit calf,
And of all of our sins appeared to be purger.

A Connecticut Yankee with a sensitive heart,
a poet who is always thankful when we 
comment on his creative work and polite
to others who are just beginning to write.

A gentleman and poet who enters contests
testing the waters of unknown hosts who
might be overly critical and not so kind,
Mario raises himself above the negativity,
realizing that there are ways to conquer
with kindness and truth by sharing his 
philosophy throughout his groups.

Mean-spirited people are not his cup of tea,
similar to rubbing salt in an open wound,

Listen To Many Cries

Wherever we walk in this world
never travel far before a sound
comes piercing loudly in your ear
our fellow beings cries so loud

Eyes wide open so ever aware
be on look out for cry of despair
make sure no wax in the ear
sensitively alert so it's clear

Remember when you were heard
in your distress one came to aid
when you thought all was lost
prayer answered heavenly made

Be a Barnabas a real encourager
one that comes close along side
always there one to count on
faithful always you can confide

a good samaritan seek to be
show yourself a real true friend
one always there to show care
always a heart need to mend

That Time Again

Anniversaries are peculiar things
our memories are brought to task
rolling back over the years
makes you take off your mask

But seriously Francine's a great gal
a great encourager indeed to us all
does inspires us to greater heights
lifts us up always when we fall

Amazing to think it's been that long
having her pension and all that!
one thinks it was far longer
not thinking that was her stat
