Notes About The Poem

Introverted Encourager

Introverted
Christian, puzzle-solving, athletic, musician
Who loves his bride, his children, his lineage.
I think love is the key to most locks, joy is attainable, peace is achievable.
I feel blessed to be alive, lucky to be in love, amazed by warmth of friendship.
I fear being trapped, being paralyzed, being insignificant.
I would like to see Paris art museums and 30 MLB stadiums. And grandchildren!
I am a California resident; home of Yosemite, Disneyland, Golden Gate bridge.

Thanks for the snap shot bio. We have much in common, the exception would be music. Although I can play the guitar and piano, voice is my preferred instrument . I've sang in chiors since Junior High, and at church since 16. I'm self taught on the instruments mentioned. Thanks for sharing through poetry, John. Bill

Bill, we do have a lot in common! I also am self-taught in guitar and piano and I've sung in choirs since my college days. In fact my wife Janet is our church choir director (She is really good... I wrote a poem about her called My Choir Director). Thanks for reading and commenting!

Thank you Eve, for taking the time to walk through my bio and leave behind and encouraging note. I love that you describe yourself as an impressionistic writer, for I do so enjoy impressionistic paintings. And please let me know if you ever get a bunco party together! Hugs ~ John

'Encourager', yes indeed! Your bio reveals what I thought by reading your compelling poetry and receiving your insightful, uplifting comments... that you are a beautiful being, John. I am proud to be one of your many friends on PS and your bio only deepens my admiration of you and your artistry. I love these lines the most; 'Who loves his bride, his children, his lineage. I think love is the key to most locks, joy is attainable, peace is achievable.' - so wonderfully said. Warmest wishes for you and yours in these trying times, dear poet.. ~Susan

Thank you for your generous kindness, John. How wonderful it is to share in fellowship an appreciation of each other’s art.. it is as rewarding as the creative process itself. Unfortunately, I haven’t been joining in the contests for the last few months because my time here has been so limited. But I look forward to seeing your gem high on the winner’s list, my wonderful friend.

It's a pleasure knowing a lovely soul like you John, so imperfectly perfect ,now that's one thing I love about poems, they are a way of freely expressing oneself and for the reader to understand and get to know the person behind the honest words. This is by far the best poem written by you because it truly represents who you are and I enjoyed it!

Rercy, you are always so generous in your assessments, both of writer and writings. Thank you! I would love to see you try this contest, it is called Bio-Modified. A good opportunity for poets to reach deep inside, and for other poets to see a little more of you from behind the veil. Warmly, John

Many smiles for your comment, Sam. I felt awkward doing this one... usually I write of characters, scenes, dialog, or ideas. This is just looking in the mirror "staring and sharing". But I appreciate the warm reception greatly.

wow - you've revealed so much about yourself in this poem, john, and have done so quite beautifully. i didn't know that you live in california and am surprised to hear you describe yourself as "introverted" but you sound very content with your life (which comes through in so many of your poems). this seems like a nice challenge to write...

I LOVE it, John!! Your two words are so YOU. People do not know this, but I too am an introvert (I am a sociable one, and I see that in you very well too). I think the only part a bit surprisiing for me would be what you fear. It's so interesting what people give as their fears!! Of those three,I would put paralyzed as the worst (kind of what I said with my word "Helpless") I saw Louvre!! I Hope you get to go there one day too. I do not even know what 30 MLB means. hahaha. GREAT poem!!
Watt Avatar
April 4, 2020 at 5:05 PM
Yes, those fears have cost me some serious sleep hours! But the way, MLB is major league baseball. I didn't like abbreviating, but I ran out of characters on that line! Poetry Soup sure helps us introverts be sociable, doesn't it! Thanks for inviting me to do this challenge.
