Premium MemberLightness Of Peace

Bright is the dew that embraces my earth
As seasons breathe with a lingering sigh;
Oaks in teal ripple and glimmer in peace
With hymns of ' thank you' I can't defy.

In this free motion, tranquility abides
North winds drift along, gentle and refined
Encircling on the core of quietude;
That hours glide perfectly, weaving a bind.

For gratitude becomes my life’s keeper
Each passing turns into a rune, a fire;
Till lightness of ease imbues vibrant thoughts
Benevolent as sunrays that inspire.

Today leans again with a lustrous face
In calm persuasion, my heart and soul meet,
This wholeness bathing in its grateful flow
When life resounds without any conceit.

Premium MemberForests of Green Coniferous Trees

Forests of Green Coniferous Trees

Forests of evergreen conifers
(Fir, spruce, cedar, pine, and hemlock trees)
Keep their colour throughout the seasons
And don’t shed foliage in autumn.

Rooted in soil and basking in sunlight,
They grow on hillsides and in valleys,
Encircling rock outcrops, swamps, and leas,
And near rivers and lakes, and on islands.

These hearty trees endure nature’s throes
Of cold, harsh, winters to warm spring thaws,
Thriving in summer and fall to help provide
A habitat for the forest dwellers.

Conifer pollen and seed cones pollinate,
And fertilized seeds disperse on windy days
—Or get stashed away by squirrels and birds—
And grow into stately coniferous trees.

A Flock Is Encircling an Esophageal White Sky

Above a beached bleached paperback, "The Doors of Perception",
a pent-up penchant for greed is flung wide open:

The esophagus of a seagull sky grows narrow
until one seagull stomachs trash with zero
tolerance for sharing. Squeaky double doors apprise
descending gulls this bird has wings doubling in size.

Squishy moist sand, footprint-ridged into pouty lips,
chased-away seagulls waddle toward crushed crumbs.
Captains trudge farther ashore or return to ships.

Premium MemberDance with Delusions

Dancing with delusions, sparks of hellfire
Course through my lugubrious quill pen.
Distorted words igniting fear,
Anxiety fills crevices,
Encircling, silencing,
Asphyxiating.
Walls closing in,
Compressing.
Hope fades,
Doom.
Dread
Runs cold.
Veins poisoned,
Sanity slips
Unmercifully.
The angels are mimicked.
Light dimming, darkness descends
As demons mingle with the dead.
Apocalyptic skies crack open
To wash away all that you held sacred.

Traffic Jam

The sand from the hourglass is slipping through the cracks between my fingers.
as I track my time in increments,
regulated, rhythmic, redundant.
the weekends coming,
it’s almost winter break.
I think, as I fail to realize that I am watching time pass me by
like I'm standing on the side of the road watching the cars drive by
instead of being in one,
controlling the wheel and pressing the gas.
I catch a glimpse of an empty car parked on the side of the road,
desperately scrambling towards it,
my hair whipping around my face,
obscuring my vision,
clouding my judgement.
I try and try and try to push it away—
but it keeps coming back.
drive, drive, drive,
a voice tells me.
as I steady my shivering, shaking hands grasping the wheel.
don't,
my hair hisses.
encircling my face with the grip of a vice
tighter, and tighter, then black.

Premium MemberMagic Bottle Glimmers

One day mom gave me a bottle sparkling,
bright fairy pixie lights swirled around me;
all about my room sparkles encircling,
the twinkles from the bottle were set free !

Mom, what a wonderful glimmering light,
a golden glowing magical dazzle;
lights are floating up and down, left and right,
oh, enchanted and in a bedazzle !

All about my room light is zip and zap,
I don't want to lose the golden shimmers;
so I try to catch them ... my hand the trap,
oh, mom thank you for the glimmers !

The Life Acrostic

Liberating feelings were encircling my brain,
Inspiration flowing through my veins.
Fabric of reality was thinning again,
Ebullient tales were echoing my name.

Premium MemberWoven Worlds

My world is getting smaller, like a net encircling its prey, drawing in closer and closer until there is no escape, and I am so worn-out from the struggle I barely try. Dusk is here. Soon, with whispers from unseen realms, the darkness will arrive and suffocate the lyrical lullaby of my actuality ...
whispers speak in tongues
only darkness understands
I am captured now
between the light of a song
and the shadow of a word

Premium MemberThere Is A Darkness

It's not the pitch-black scene that surrounds me ominously.
Suspense-filled 'what's hidden within?' feelings heavily haunt
Visions of serpents creeping around precariously
Appear and disappear like nightmares and jeeringly taunt

Though, sometimes, death-like is this dark environment outside.
There's a purgatory-like gloom encircling me within.
From the angels of inner illumination, I hide
My wrath, rage, hate, and mercilessness throw me into sin.

A glimpse of awareness, yet, like a little ray, is seen.
A lamp of optimism, though flickering, is burning still.
Why should I be my foe? Nay. May my friendship with me clean.
Shouldn't I, like an enlightened self, do the divine will?

The nectar brim fills when petals unfold in detachment.
Hungry flies and bees around drink to their hearts' contentment.
Attachment, aversion, and delusion are malignant.
Defeating darkness, I find existential fulfilment.

Phoning

There are no more telephone booths,
not the old type - the glass coffins.

The Atalanta hub is rocking,
planes and people buzzing in and out
of an anthill nexus
of distracted minds.

Calling London,
a city
that has red telephone boxes,
concrete-set booths
that all ring at once.
Wrong numbers are seeking answers.
There is a cacophony
in the pressed ears of puzzlement.

The airport begins to spin around,
faster and faster,
a shaky orbit encircling speaking lips.
Dialing fingers sweat, are too thick
for changing conversations.

Talking heads are searching
for one direct call,
one line in an ethereal ball of string.

Red boxes are bellowing now,
every voice is angry,
nearby glass booths
are trembling with a frustrated rage.

All these images are an allegory
for the deaf and dumb days of yore,
a distant time locked in its own
transparent sarcophagus -
drowned-out mouths,
even now
fitfully trying to connect.

                   10/17/2023

Along a winding lane of glowing orange
leaves, I leisurely strolled.
Thinking of years past, which, like a sudden,
strong wind, blew in cyclonic tunnels away.

Walking on crunchy leaves, I pondered my
virtues and daunting human failings.
In the stillness of that autumn morning dew,
hugged by loving trees that were encircling me.

Knowing that in God's hands, I was created
to follow all His laws, to live with angelic joy.
The crunchy concerto of heavenly, colorful leaves
beneath my warm, thankful, booted feet.

~I longed for the day, the face of my God to see! ~

Premium MemberSearching For More

I've abandoned the hills where love was lost
to seek solace along a seashore.
Dawn finds me searching for something more,
as rippling waves gently caress the sand.

Maybe the sun's warmth will melt the frost
that always seems to be encircling my heart.

Premium MemberA Lavender Field

Join me while we doze off in a lavender field
Allow me to indulge in a few splashes of color
Hold these drips of yearned-for times in mind
to enter magical paradises with a simple slide.

and immerse yourself entirely in me
A teardrop slides and drips down your cheek
leaving a dead spot on your lips corner
The intense thrill of being in devotion.

soon we shall be overflowing with feeling
A hypnotic embrace of skin-on-skin
entwining and encircling one another
sharing a night of laughter and affection.
