My world is getting smaller, like a net encircling its prey, drawing in closer and closer until there is no escape, and I am so worn-out from the struggle I barely try. Dusk is here. Soon, with whispers from unseen realms, the darkness will arrive and suffocate the lyrical lullaby of my actuality ...
whispers speak in tongues only darkness understands I am captured now between the light of a song and the shadow of a word

By employing the technique of the complement (completion), you have succeeded in weaving the prose and tanka together in a smooth transition. The choice of auditory as the imagery component of your tanka prose is well represented. The tanka is exquisite, with clearly defined upper and lower phases. Your poem is made more poignant as it is relatable. Congratulations on your second place win, Chetta.

Fabulous, Chetta...you clearly understand the contest's intent and parameters and created a unique poem. Sometimes I feel like my world, too, is getting smaller. I also sometimes wonder if I'm captured between the light of a song and the shadow of a word...in poet's no man's land sometimes. Best wishes with the contest, Sara
