lights grow fast
     hard times bring
      gentle verse
murmured with a smile
a devotee of courage
unafraid
      to reminesce
      to charm
in an innovative
                      form
yes
with an agony of effort
quite so
     an inner change
     a compulsion
        ethereal
an earthbound
               spirit
softened
     in an
          antique outline
discrepancies...yes
      yet measured
      to realise this dream
in beautys bloom
     so delphinium blue
insubstanial in demeanour
yet oh so true
      once faded
      scattered
      still full of style
perceptive emotions lay confused
        restless melting
clearly visible on the brow
age
 in a self portrait
   words
     from yesteryear

Premium Member In the Morning

IN THE MORNING

In the morning I chew on birds,
East-caffeinated chirping words.*
My adjectives ink-up with dawn,
To catch the shimmer of a fawn.

My mind’s sharp though my eyes are blurred.
With strong coffee my poem’s stirred.
Day shades blue and green as I yawn,
in the morning.

     In the shadow of silent-curds,
the first light’s delphinium-spurred,
my muse ~ with brush in hand has drawn ~
Of flowing quill-stars I’m a pawn.
The whispers in my ear oft heard
In the morning.

Premium Member My Family

flowers are women
in my family’s garden -
Mom and her daughters

rhythm surrounds me
as I sway in contentment -
September’s Aster

Geranium Jen
bends graciously in the breeze -
our southern comfort

charming Melanie
with her sunflower brightness
warms us with her smiles

Our sister Doris
the stalwart Gladiolus
will never fail us

With perseverance
Thea boldly holds her own -
sweet Delphinium

Mom at our center
a spiritual iris
simply inspires us

A forget-me-not
for my sisters and mother -
and roses of love

Mud Season

Anacreontic verse...

Mud season
Boots squishing
Wind blasting
Cyan lips pursed
Enough already
God hates us

The assaultive
Translucent blue
Frigid raindrops
Horizontal
Penetrating
Get indoors

Oh, let the sun-soaked
Gloom breaking
Cerulean sky
Merrily melt
the gray-cobalt
coffin clouds

Soon, the bright
Azure blooms
It will bring
Delphinium
Blue hyacinth
Geranium

Glowing in the sun
Warm wind
Pollen wafting
Softening breeze
God’s mercy is right
Around the corner

Her Name Is Synesthesia

--Her Name is Synesthesia --

 I imagine color so vivid
  leaving those lips--
   as if a doorway
to another dimension.

Each hue a photon fingerprint;
appearing in this moment
a manifestation--
lovely, serene, glowing.

The visible spectrum
      of your soul dancing
            like willows in mid September.

Green goddess of dawn strolling throughout the night sky;
forest hiding its identity; snow covered and silent--
horizon bursting into flames a million miles away;

     mere abbreviations of you.

Shimmering foam gliding
  across the shoreline
     before retreating back home--

I long for such dedication.

                  Where have you been?

During the tens of thousands
of circles the clock hands ran
while I sat as a delphinium
missing the sun in December.

 While needles surf my skin
 carving among this canvas
 I can only wonder--
daydream and decipher;

Yes, I remember.

Garden

Through the cracks in my paving
I'm growing lemon thyme
The rosemary I'm saving
In my cooking will taste divine.

Apple mint and dill, Parsley and chives
Basil and coriander, Oregano and sage
The fragrances in our gardens
Stay with us all our lives.

Some strange people call them egg plants
but aubergines are their real names
My courgettes and tomatoes
Now planted in cold frames.

Delphinium in the borders
Magnolia and roses too
Chrysanthemum and dahlia
Arriving right on queue .

Sweet pea near the back wall
Climbers of every kind
Seeing my cherry tree's in full bloom
always blows my mind.

I've got red hot pokers
Buddleia for the butterflies
The beauty of my snowball tree's
Is like nectar for the eyes.

A garden is a living space
It should not be neglected or left alone
Let it become your magical place
An extension of your home.

Out of a seed,new life,
  Then a root;
Out of this soil,a tip,
  Then a shoot;
Out from a stalk,a stem.
  Then a gem;
Out of the blue,flowers,
  my delphinium.
Out of its root,new life,
   a new shoot,
Out of this shoot,a stem
     again;
Twice over , flowers my
  delphinium.
