Cottage Cheese and Apple Sauce

So, in the conversation, we talked about different tastes—
How cottage cheese and apple sauce deserved their rightful place.
So, in this moment of trusting things you say,
I applied a heaping helping upon my dinner tray.

Not one aside from each other, but both inside the bowl,
Mixed them up together—and before your eyes will roll...
The concoction is a masterpiece, in sweetness and in cheese,
And I found myself devouring it and asking for "more, please!"

It will become a staple on my dinner plate, for it is a healthy snack;
The creamy apple goodness is surely a life hack.

Premium Member autumn at the cottage

you sit on a bench
beneath a leafy ash tree
wind sways the weathered swing
dusk is slowly falling...
suddenly on a branch – a drowsy pale owl
blinking with wise eyes
you are drowsing too...
just blow out the lantern
and sink into the fluffy quilt
passed down from your grandma

The Cottage

Friendly little cottage
perched upon a cliff,
watching as the waves
crash recklessly below
against the sandy shore.

Premium Member A Cottage In The Country Alone

Life can be a bore at times
feel the need for a change
away in the country with fresh air
maybe near a village with no stairs

There's a little place in the English Lakes
down in South Lakes, Grange-over-Sands
so quiet and peaceful, a real delight
love it there, it makes me a real fan

Sitting on the coast with lovely views
such stirring walks to keep fit
such quietness brings such peace
watch the ducks there as I sit

My cottage suits me fine
love its divine location
relax on the front veranda
read poetry for particular occasions

The last of us

The last of us
meander in rolling hills
by the misty stream
tinkling round slate rocks.
A doll size cottage
hewn of ancient limestone
silhouetted in rainbow flares
creeks and rumbles forlorn.
Withered lace murmurs languid
framed by dark embrasures.
We enter the void
over a parquet threshold
to greet mirrored visions
in ever rewinding portals
that unveil the stories
of our dreams unlived.

Premium Member Enchanted Cottage in the Woods

I had heard of the enchanted cottage of course
Unsure if I had seen it as a child or imagined it.
But I was an adult now, almost twenty-seven.
What were the chances of finding her?

No one who returned could map the route.
It was as if their memories had been swiped clean.
a faerie princess exited the cottage to greet me.
I was astounded, honored, and overwhelmed.

What is your name? She asked me.
Her voice was gentle, soft, concerned.
I could not remember my name.
Thus, you know I could not remember the route.

Homespun Tale

Little Miss Muffet ran away with the spoon
and a bowl of curds and whey
but it's no mystery as the rest is history
for she began a business on the self-same day
first on the card came cottage cheese
now it's plain to see how and why
then her company soon had a hasty addition
when the lady made tasty cottage pie
for one so young to start such an enterprise
successful and spider-free
it comes as no surprise
hers was a cozy cottage industry

Premium Member In cottage country

The sunrise was particularly serene
So peaceful ~ not a creature was stirring
No, not even a hedgehodge ~

Pie-Faced

I've oft been offered but not tempted by
large helpings of pie in the sky
from too many crooks
who indeed the broth did spoil
and so as not to be sullied
by such greasy oil
I stay out of their kitchen
not because I can't stand the heat
but what's on their menu
ain't my cup of meat
apple or cherry by the slice
with a tasty pastry crust
is not a must but very nice
my absolute fave fit for a King
with taters on top of thee I sing
made with lamb
not beef that's cottage
and personal wish
as the name does imply
is a dainty dish
of homemade shepherd's pie

Premium Member French Cottage

I'll always hold this dream with you
A chalet by a lake, us two
A long time spent exploring France
From minute one it's all romance
Will it happen? I don't know
But if it does then off we'll go
I'm saving up to pay the way
So I'll be ready for that day

Premium Member Faith's Cozy Cottage

     Faith’s cozy cottage
       lies deep in the woods

     Beckons trembling hearts
       to partake of her Goods

     Allays palpitations
       assuages all fears

As she calms, as she tames
       fresh rivers of tears

Premium Member This is cottage life

warm cup in hand i take stock
as the cool air caresses my face
the smells of dawn comingle
the lake ever so still with
sounds of nature waking up

there's nothing more precious
than this moment and
the sense of awe i feel

i am undeniably blessed

Premium Member A Cottage Garden

When yellow crocus wake to welcome day
Beneath the trees a splash of glowing gold
And purple primrose cast a rich display
While honeysuckle vines uncurl, unfold
For me, I know no more a wondrous thing
Than a cottage garden in early spring

Lovely Cottage

Lovely cottage
Once full, once love
Standing lonely.

Curate, restored
Back in full bloom
Ready for use.

Lovely people
Come, enter in
Stay, enjoy.

Once in your life
Stay awhile
Embrace rural.

Premium Member Cottage Cheese

I've just realized
cottage cheese
is not cheese.
I'm surprised!

I shouldn't be shocked
but, you see,
it's really just
a curd to me!
