Conch Sound

Conch Sound
the garden of North Andros
the place where my father's navel string lay
The settlement sits on the vicinity of the waterfront
with old Bahamian vessels piloted by One Eyed Jacob
drifting across the sea winds
while it's calm blue hole calmly sleeps
on the pillow of the ocean

The land has a multitude of
healthy, growing trees and saplings
bearing mangoes, coco plums
coconuts and star fruits
the fruits of their labor

We can cross the creek near Johnson's Hill
with caution at low tide
passing through the tranquil kingdom
of the mangroves
red, white, black and buttonwood
to take a view of the old cemetery
the testing place of my ancestors from long ago
submerged in multitudes of sand grains

The Conch Shell

The
Conch
Shell is
a marvel.
Its curling feature
is a phenomenon, in and
of itself, yet it enables you to wonder the
sort of critter that it harbors. Its unique vivid inner colors compliment it.

conch shell hints secrets
inspiring me to lie down in the sand
allowing the lap of the waves to lull me to sleep
i feel grateful he is waiting when I awake

Conch Shell

I feel the shell’s roughness in my hand
Yet cool as the ocean water
before I plucked it into the suns warmth.
lifting it to my ear, I hear
the oceans waves break upon the shore,
Is this an echo of life within the murky depths?
I wonder…

Ribcage Like a Conch Shell

My ribcage is like a conch shell
where you can press your ear
against my narrow chest
where the music of the ocean tides
meet the songs of the mermaids
flowing and circulating
through my heart made of ocean water
and my breastplate made of coral reefs

Conch

4/21/17

Near and far from any kind of conch
Animals and humans with a paunch
While others are gaunt

Some just want
To flaunt
What they got
Like it or not

A stance considered staunch
To get business done and the point across

Bad experiences for many that daunt
And continue to haunt

Items bought
With little to any thought
Never used and forgot
Left in a box

Beers brewed with little or extra hops
Ranging in various costs
And available in similar or different shops

People obsessed with slots
And winning the jackpots

You talk alot
Of hog wash
Non-stop
Nothing of substance or quality, far from top notch

Some did or didn't get caught
Later on or at the very spot
Getting shot or locked
Away, and paying the cost

Conch

A seashell was the greatest find
for an eight year old at the time.
A conch shell was the most prized sought
elusive more often than not.
But when it’s found the finder gains
a worth much more than Mary Jane’s
and bubblegum he could wish for
from any corner candy store.
Within its aperture is filled
with sounds of surf and sea that thrills
his mind when pressed against his ear
then shared among his childhood peers
this brightly colored spiral shell
where once a spineless mollusk dwelled.

A Conch Shell's Dream

~A conch shell's dream to sing
under the moonlit night sky
in a far away tropical island
while listening to solitude's sigh.~

I Got Stinky Weed From a Conch

A Conch is a Key West Redneck Local
you needed to know that before I go vocal

I stopped at a Couch's house to buy some weed'z
and this is only the begining of what I see'z

came up on a trailer where the mold is blue
there are flys in day refrigorator and cock-rouches too

his wife was wickin she said "I'm a witch!"
but she came across to me as a B---ch

she was ugly and now I hate her
her face looked like an alligator

"We got six kids!" thier runnin around
"thier beatin each othe to the ground!"

the youngest one says "thats not fare!"
but in reality they just "don't care!"

the cops were talkin to a whore
it smells "Are they cookin meth next door?"

watchin on the porch on a card board box
"he's got combat boots with no socks!"

he just sits there and pulls it (hand was on his crotch)
and picks the bugs out of his mullet (mullet!it's a red neck hair do)

I got high from thier greed
they show had sum stinky weed!

When the Conch Shell Loses Its Roar

"We won't have a society if we destroy the environment."
- Margaret Mead

It's time to face the facts, Jack, Jill;
give the marsh back to the ocean,
move uphill. Give the river back
its mouth, the shore to the sea.
It's way past time to clean the obscene –
ness from the blue-green waters
we rape to feed us. Dead zones exist
in the deep, yet we weep
when nature disturbs our ego.

We just don't get it. The need to breathe
begins in the sea. It's life, renewed,
in grasses that cleanse our ignorance,
in spite of our arrogance,
We are choking her to death
with stupidity and greed.
