Premium Member The atmosphere in the chemistry class of Miss Butts

She had the ass of the ages ~
two hemispheres where the thunder rages.
And as she lumbered up and down the aisles of our chemistry class,
she would emit traces of sulphuric gas,
the kind that the end of the world presages.

Premium Member The Awe of Iron

Formula Fe2 O3
Iron is just awesome – let’s see!

First it was prehistoric man
Who was always an iron fan

Iron is a third of the earth
Industry is iron by birth

Pritchard designed and Darby made
Iconic Iron Bridge won’t fade

Smelt pig iron from iron ore
Produces cast iron galore

Backbone of skyscrapers, bridges
Organs of cars, washers, fridges

Clever Bessemer carbon gone
Heralded steel for everyone

Mankind’s most ingenious feat
Turning raw earth to steel – so neat!

Iron’s compounds are versatile
No wonder it’s used all the while

Inks, fertilisers, pesticides
Paints, enamels and more besides

Many iron phrases pervade
Each as an English language aid

There’s ironclad, iron curtain
Iron grip and more for certain

We need it in a small amount
For on haemoglobin we count

Open your eyes and look around
Everywhere an iron surround

Iron has magnetic appeal
First place must be iron with steel

Premium Member Of Saltpeter and Soul

A line like serpent coiled round the saltpeter cart
Hoping to purchase health and healing, or
Gunfire spark
The merchant—a vendor of virtue/vice
His ware—a white wonder of alchemical craft
Dancing in light and dark
He brokers that which bridges life and death
The sales of arms secretly sent for alms...
Betwixt his quiet, a question mark

What I Became

In school I liked:
physical geography, American History
and biology.

I hated:
chemistry, physics
and geometry.

So, I became a pharmacist

Premium Member Warding

Like unwilling alchemy,
A forceful transmutation,
Tragedy to sanity -
Through sudden abnegation.

With fluid emotions -
The mixing of potions -

Alchemical abjuration.

Premium Member Light

When light hits my eyes
What do I see?
An amalgamation of atoms
Each individual connected to another
All vibrating within
The empty space that
Makes up the universe.
Water is clear
Because it's vibrations
Are independent of the light
But I'm not clear
And neither are you
Because we are made up of
White red olive brown
Skin
Coloured by the sun
And blue blood
That turns red
When it sees the light
Of pink muscles and sinews
And powder white
Calcium bones
Which all vibrate
In a way that absorbs the light
Trapping it
Within the empty spaces
And never letting go

Red kiss has me pleasantly troubled
Emerald excited it’s the biggest thrill
My pulse has hightened its doubled
My brain can’t name how I fuchsia feel

I know we are like chocolate strangers
Two passing ships crashing lips as sails
No care for the obvious deadly dangers
Intoxicated by pheromones and smells

I try not to be too flirty or too wordy
But I’m failing at that very teal task
My hands seem to dance in a hurry
To touch to explore maybe too fast

What a sweet chemistry we share
It’s wild like a strong blue breeze
I look forward to a hot love affair
Holding hands the romance I need

Biochemistry: The Language of Life

Biochemistry, the language of life,
Spoken in the smallest of parts,
Yet felt in the grandest of forms.

Biochemistry, the alchemy of nature,
Transforming simple elements
Into the majestic tapestry of life.

Biochemistry, illuminating life’s invisible pathways,
Guiding us toward a deeper understanding
Of the complex molecular web that shapes life.

Biochemistry, the molecular blueprints of existence,
Empowering us to unravel life’s mysteries,
And harness its potential to better humankind.

To study biochemistry is to decode
The code of life, written in the language
Of atoms, elements, and molecules.

Blessed

In a Romantic episode of my life,
A little story let me tell.
I have discerned a blessing!!!
With No forced Chemistry,
Just God's artistry.

Like we've met in the past life.
In a home with no strife.
Just a fine nest, founded in love.
No, never have I believed in Reincarnation theory,
Nor do I know who came about it.
But, the flow left me questioning History.

Perhaps, just a bit
I might want to believe in this theory.
For, in such a parallel world,
Thee came to my life, and left a mark
In an instant I felt the click,
Just the perfect kick.

Exactly what I have been waiting for, it feels.
For, the awakening thee brought.
No forethought, nor thought itself needed,
For, the story line speaks volumes!
Hence, I say
I've discerned a blessing!!!
Which seems to have always been my blessing!!!

Shell games, tricks, illusions, levels of deceptions

Plastic shapes of magical
mirrors

Dynamically invisible
Connections

Florescent
energies

Contented to stay, comfortable, stable
Agitated by imperceiveable insults
Confused, frustrated efforts to be heard
Incendiary reactions spitting out words

THE CHEMISTRY WE SHARED

Unlike an apple falling from a tree
We were floating aloft, hearts very free
The force we shared was magnetic
Drawing us closer like molecules in a compound

We defied the laws of motion
Embarking on a whirlwind of innovation.
Even when we rest, our emotions danced
A perpetual celebration!

But like any scientific experiment
Our reactions became unpredictable
The elements that once harmonized
Began to drift apart, signaling our end

Yet like liquids in a Bunsen burner
The chemistry in our hearts' laboratories lingers
Though as heteronuclear molecules we now stand
The chemistry we shared was truly grand.

Premium Member Chemistry

To put it quite simply we are all overly complex
Uniquely individual yet come together to coalesce
While it is true we march to our own beat
We share the same ground to plant our feet
Making us more alike than we think
Since we are intertwined in a web of links

Time to break down the barriers in our mind
Realizing we are destined to unite and combine
Building bonds with each other is in our DNA
Lending a helping hand to get through our days
We all seek connection deep in our souls
It's the universe's way to make us feel whole

A Special Chemistry

Could it be I was wrong?
Was it you I was to find all along?
It seems so silly, here you were
A complete stranger to me,
Yet the moment I met you there was a
Special chemistry.

A feeling that we had met in another
Time,
A feeling that only strengthened
When your hand touched mine
Could it be we were two souls
Searching through centuries
Only to is find each other and fulfil
The prophecy?

Is what I feel for you real or just
A foolish young girls fantasy,
Or is this the here and now and
Forever will be

Chemistry

Written By: D. Collins 9/13/23

Chemistry is that smile when our eyes lock.
That instant attraction that just won't let us stop.
It's a push in the back that makes us cross room.
Meet somewhere in the middle and dance to a tune.

Chemistry is what happens between the both of us.
Feeling each other before we even touch.
We don't have to say nothing. It is all in the air.
Exchanging our vibes through a locked in stair.

It has x-ray vision that can see through crowds.
Speak of sump'n, sump'n we didn't know was allowed.
It knows what it wants and will have its own way.
So, let Chemistry kick in and rule the day.

Premium Member Chemistry Of Poetry

Camaraderie that please
Hymns released in penning
Essence of writing
Memories that linger
Insights without stinger
Sceneries projected and displayed
Thoughts delivered, not delayed
Revival of inner soul
Your offering in a bowl

Oxygen that resuscitates
Flows through the body and enervates

Poetry that lasts
Over the years that blasts
Elements of Chemistry
Touching the lives of many
Resonates in artistry
Your voice in honor of humanity
