   Can't we just fudge it?
   I don't see a reason to budget.
   I count each penny,
   It all goes away!

   Momma goes to the money tree.
   I know its outside.
   But how she gets it is beyond me.

How mom looked forward to her weekly trips to Sally Ann. It was undeniably the paramount highlight of her week. Magic the potential of a dollar or two. Feeling free like she could afford the well-earned luxury of bringing home a blouse, a random dish or recipe book.



       

The Best of Friends

Moved out to the country, isolated and without a car, I don’t know what I would have done without my new friends Mrs. Juhas and Mrs. Gatien. They forced me to call them by their first names, it only became easier once the friendship deepened. Ida took me into town for grocery shopping every week.
