Breaking, Broken, Breakthrough

Breaking apart
your verbal
sledgehammer
demolishes me
words that crush
all that I am
all that I thought
while I try to find
rhyme or reason 
for the assualt.

Broken down
As floods of malice
pour out from wounds
I could not see
in you, from you
I am broken
beyond repair
It's only cold now
now that I see
you no longer care.

Break through, a must
to breath.
I deconstruct
everything I am.
It's no longer

Death To Fear

Fear,you once held me tight,
A prisoner in shadows, trapped in the night.
Your whispers were poison, seeping through my soul,
Leaving me frozen, unable to feel whole.
But I’ve risen, I’ve taken my stand,
No longer held by your trembling hand.
I faced your darkness, shone my own light,
Exposed your lies, and reclaimed my sight.
You once whispered, “You’re not enough,”
But

Chosen

Once again, another failure.
It’s like the pick of the litter, it’s my flavor.
I climb the mountain, and I am almost there.
Then the wind of disappointment comes out of nowhere.

Yet again, I am at the bottom, 
hopes and dreams again forgotten.
Why is my life up and down?
Should I keep trying or shut down?

Sometimes I am through

Sometimes a breakthrough comes from a breakdown

Changes are necessary
Pressure helps the process
Less we forget that we all 
Only have a season to fulfill our purpose in life

Sometimes a breakthrough
Comes from a breakdown
Sometimes a storm
Shows you the path you need

Breaking the mold
At times we need to be bold and 
Remember that a broken heart 
Can still be victorious!
We all need to grow

The Breakthrough

My fountain pen found its way,
onto the internet,
it was a transformative process,
for both ink and blood.

There were thousands before me,
many talking in a strange language,
of signs, signals, and digital squiggles,
a code I had to break.

The nib of my pen broke
its golden crown.
My fingertip's had to study
how to not blunder,
like a bull elephant
into a wide-open frat

Stay Strong

Glistening cheeks
With emotions swirling high
Stormy sky
Just like the one inside.
One seeks answers
To the curiosities in mind
Why is life like this?
Who really am I?
When our conscience
Fails to hold us back
Only for us to wander
Along darker paths.
Perchance an angel may descend
A messiah in common wear
Mayhap a blessing in disguise
To guide us back.
At times like these
We may lose

Sitting on that cold bench
Life passes you by

But all you see
Is the movie in your head
You're second-guessing
Every single step you took

If his confession
Was the only betrayal

There's a breakthrough when,
where are hearts in God;
There's breakthrough when, 
we allow our hearts
to be His
To part from those evil woes;
Those bad behaviors we have chosen;
I am growing, growing in the Lord;
Let us adapt to impart to just love like He so does;

And then
all of a sudden she
was there
I had met her before
once
or twice
we communicated
and went
our ways
this time she was here
closer than ever

almost feel her
if not
for the glass
wall between us

she wants to
come to the other side
she has the courage
will she
have the strength
come

I yelled
then
slowly she
faded away
I keep staring
at the glass
waiting
for her

A Career Epiphany

Had just turned age sixteen.

Hey, that was really keen.

But I was aimless in high school.

Which was not really cool.

In this pose, now I was stuck.

What will I be when I grow up?

Older siblings were college-bound.

Such a path I had not found.

I asked for help on what to do.

So, I'd have a future not so blue.

Silent Breakthrough

I needed the silence
No noise from the phone
No snowplows or wind
Branches or ice cracking
Just silence and a breakthrough
For words to return
For worries to leave
For peace to slow time, regularly
To take in my surroundings,
with striking observation
To feel my being in the here and now
Silence brought me what I need somehow
It’s right here in front of me

A sideways glance, I see you shine
your purple spark, enchanting 
sprung up beside an old street pole
from concrete crack, shy flower. 

How can you grow among the grays
your sunshine petals, perky?
Blooming where you should not be
a humble over comer. 

My hurting heart, from cold to warm
hard as stone, now softening
for I will rise above adversity

A Breakthrough of Sorts

I saw this thread hanging from my shirt the other day and was hit with a memory…back to my first year of teaching in Florida…and a young girl named Stephanie.

Stephanie was a beautiful little girl…her Autism…she was trapped in it…
she could not talk but whatever she had in her hands…oh…could that girl spin it.
