Addict close to a breakthrough

It’s a shame, really
This feeling
It burns
The only way
That I can explain it
To the Non-Addict is
You want something
A specific something
To change your mood
But at the same time
You don’t
Yet you act on it anyway
Rehab
That
You didn’t teach me that this would be a lifelong sentence of surveillance
You just gave me a certificate
Slapped me on the back
And said
“30 days was enough”

Why is it so hard to climb just 12 steps?

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts on addiction through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

I know a few who joined AA or went to rehab centres. We need to supplement effort with prayer to God in surrender. It works.
