asparagus
created by our Savior
for human's food, birds' food, beauty
perfection in nature
     

What's Cooking?

Altho' fearless it was flightless
I do declare
and when it found itself earthbound
was the dodo despondent in despair
or even think
it would become extinct
if it knew it was in
deep doo-doo
somewhat akin
to the the missing link
unafraid of man
who thought them dumb
as they come on the quiet
an easy prey for sailors
a whole new different dinner diet
but there was nothing

A catch

                    two Robins scurry
           stop and go across the lawn
              worm lunch in

the spare-row

...'wowza' again...

a spare row of
creatures take...

their last step
every minute of...

time any where
and become food...

yesterday i saw
a hawk take a...

sparrow feeding
in the front hedge...

just a half hour ago
another got nailed...

while i watched so
the mystery is gone...

sparrows will land on
your shoulder because...

hawks avoid us and so
we're predatory protection....

The Owl, Though Some Think It Is Wise

The owl, though some think it is wise,
Finds mice far more tasty than pies.
In matters of taste
Its judgment erased,
Its fees are too high, I surmise. 

Turkey

Tender, dark and white meat,
Tangy cranberries and
The best-mashed potatoes
Topped with a thick gravy;
That is so delicious,
The mouth-watering smell
Triggers my appetite.

Harvest

harvest in his beak
muted excepted for its blush
poised on white pumpkin
winterberry holly fruit
a treat for the midnight crow

murder of crows

on forest stroll
murder of scarecrows assaults--
roots birthing new plants

The Woodpecker and the Man

A hungry woodpecker asked a man,
"Which restaurant are we going to?"

"We must get dinner as fast as we can", 
Replied the man who was hungry, too,
"The longer it takes us to decide, 
As time continues to creep and crawl..."
 
"I know what you're thinking", the bird replied,
Let's slam our heads against the wall".

Picture the Duck

   If you’re down on your luck
     just picture the duck

   In order to sup
     he goes bottom-up

Nature Gives

I love nature gives
I love discrete birds singing
All natural food.

McChicken Special

  a long-necked goose pursued
  a stuffed hen, waddling
     through the entrails of
       an all-you-can-eat
          charred chick
             lunch special 



  

Ravenous

The raven loosened up his belt
and had himself a patty melt.
“Don’t eat so much”, I did implore
As he spat out an apple core.
Quoth the raven, “I’ll have some more.”

Sunday Supper

sun climbs big cloud hill
ribbon rays ink silhouette 
vultures feast fresh meat
