My worst enemy is not a stranger,
but the fears that turn my heart into danger.
I care not to make a home upon the knife,
too afraid of the demons that poison my life,
as reason fights the devil, and my inner flame thrives,
soaked in the perfume of faith that revives ~
for I am worth more than the burning blame,
I bloom beyond dust, no longer the same.
I buried the nemesis dressed as my sweetest nightmare,
found my remedy in rhyming stars, amidst despair…
O tormentor, the familiar doubt creeping in silence,
I defy the voiced viciousness of your violence.
I am the violet diamond, sparkling blue,
photographed in parallel peace, now seeing the clue
of how terrors stole the rose-beam colors of light,
blurring my sunsets, clouding the velvet ink of night…
So watch me as I fall into the warmth of deep devotion,
surrendering my quill to the secrets of the infinite ocean…
What is life without the trust of ache ~ if not a heart breathing love’s rhyme,
as tonight… the moon slips stars between our souls’ truth ~ sweetly touched by time.
Im a little out of tune
Im havin trouble inside
Cant explain the chayos
that I feel tonight
Everythings a mess
I can barely breathe
And your wonderin wonderin
When I stopped bein me
I couldnt tell you the truth
I couldnt lie to you
Im a little out of control
I swear Its not my fault
I try and I try
But nothin seems to work
Gotta break me down
Gotta take away this diesese
Its like im addicted
To the worst parts of me
And inside I am filled to the brim
No one can see how hurt I am
So confused by all these things
So abused by my own creating
Somethings wrong inside my head
and I feel, I feel, almost dead.
The saddest thing in life, some think is death,
for separation is a deep abyss.
No longer can one talk to loved one gone,
and lips still hunger of the lover's kiss
Yet sadder seems to be the death of love.
A life that's shared devoid of passion's flame
is seen in eyes that fill with cold disdain.
When lips refuse to kiss, one turns in shame.
Two souls apart, yet one by others seen.
A shroud mistaken for a lover's veil
that covers not a frenzied warm embrace
Just requiem of love in stifled wail
The death of love is worse than death of life,
If yet unsure of this, then ask a wife

I cringe at the thought of writing
the worst verse in the universe.
I would have to light a match
and set fire to every ridiculous word
if someone thought it so terrible
and their criticism I had overheard.
But if all of the words were my own
I would smile and take it in stride
knowing that I had not plagiarized
the written poetry or lyrics of another.
I would never do that to a song writer
or steal the poems of a poetry brother.
I could never intentionally misspell
any word when a dictionary is handy.
Sometimes I decide to punctuate verses,
and sometimes I leave the cage door open
It depends on the mood I happen to be in...
happy with what I written, or if I'm mopin'
You ask, "To rhyme or not to rhyme..."
that's never the right question for me.
I never worry about how, why or when...
I just follow the path my hunger leads
cuz when it's feeding time, my mind is open
to plant rose clippings or wildflowers seeds.
In lighthearted Limericks I sometimes write
bawdy lines that might raise an eyebrow
but not even then would I sabotage the form
I think my hand would tremble and shake
if I made mistakes on purpose.... hmmm no
and if I had a Muse, her heart would break.

Peer pressure of the worst no matter who they are
They can be a boy or girl that they believe to become martyr's
Strapped to these young souls, is something they just don't understand
Yet the cowards who persuade them to miss, becoming a woman or a man
What, where, why or when, does this quest justify it's means
For it arises in the warped depraved, in twisted confused dreams
For in this book that they all crave about, this they cannot do
It's against their religion to request the suicide of you
For all their Cleric's whom they are, they sit and witness so
Not one has ever spoken out, to stop this exploding blow
Why is this I ask myself, for they fear the bullet of a gun
Because it's easier to suppress their young, terrorism has again begun

Twas winter ninety-seven, all around the town
Houses lit up magically, parties all around.
Boyfriend says, come with me, to works Christmas dinner,
Dress up chic and sexy, looking like a winner.
Hair all done up, makeup on, gown that fits just right
We’ll impress his colleagues, I was such a pretty sight.
Ushered to our table, we sat with others there
Such a lovely evening, a truly posh affair.
Delicious food, friends were made, laughter filled the air,
A real nice Christmas party, memories to share.
Then came all the speeches, boring us all to death,
The best part was the here here’s, sniffing wines sweet breath.
Finally was time to dance, music filled the night,
Dancing in my ball gown which now was fitting tight.
Time and time we danced that night, in each other’s arms,
Him with me and me with him, showing off our charms.
Suddenly I laughed so hard, teeth went flying out,
Slide across the dance floor, feet pushing them about.
In a flash down on my knees, scurrying about,
Found the little suckers, and popped them in my mouth.
At the time I hoped and prayed nobody had seen,
When I popped them in my mouth, and where they had been.
Looking back, now I laugh, thinking it was funny,
I’m happy now my mouth can say “C’est la vie.

I love you more than anything.
You are my friend.
You are my role model.
Even though you are annoying at times,
You are my little sister, and I love you.
You may think I am annoying too,
But always remember I am there for you.
The day you were born,
I don’t quite remember,
but all I know is you are the greatest gift ever.
Little did I know are time would be
Short, but that’s not important.
Your first day of Pre-K was very exciting.
You were so happy to be leaving for school.
Later that month would not be very cool.
That day sucked because I was at school,
Hoping everything would be okay,
But little did I know it wouldn't be so gay.
I walk in your room, not knowing what to say.
I see you in bed, I don’t know what to do.
Mom said you would be okay.
Then you woke up.
I was so relieved but I thought I lost you that day.
Mom and Dad were so very sad.
I remember that day like it was only yesterday.
I still really miss you, but I’m okay.
I know I have another angel in heaven.
But I still wished that day would never have happened.
YOU'LL NEVER WEAR THE CROWN
NO BETS YOU'LL WIN THE RACE
NO MEDALS ON YOUR CHEST
NO TROPHIES FOR YOUR FACE
NO ONE COULD EVER LOVE YOU
YOU'LL NEVER MEASURE UP
DON'T EVEN BOTHER TRYING
YOU'LL NEVER BE ENOUGH
THESE THOUGHTS SWIRL IN MY HEAD
I'M DROWNING IN SELF DOUBT
THE FEAR TRIES TO CONSUME ME
MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I DON'T COUNT
I HAVE TO BREAK THESE CHAINS
SEE THE BEAUTY INSIDE ME
NEED TO CHANGE MY OWN PERCEPTION
I'M MY OWN WORST ENEMY
I WAS JUST A A LITTLE KID
WHEN THESE FEELINGS GOT THEIR START
THE OLDER ONE WAS PRETTY
THE YOUNGER ONE WAS SMART
I WAS NOTHING SPECIAL
WAS JUST THE IN BETWEEN
A SHY CLUMSY TODDLER
THEN AN AWKARD NERVOUS TEEN
MET WITH LOTS OF BULLIES
AT THE SCHOOLYARD ALONG THE WAY
THEY SENSED MY INSECURITIES
THAT I WAS EASY PREY
EVEN THOUGH IT'S LONG AGO
BAD MEMORIES FROM THE PAST
IT'S FUNNY HOW HURT FEELINGS
ALWAYS SEEM TO LAST
I'M SO TIRED OF FEELING USELESS
LONELY IN SUCH PAIN
SCREW THIS INSECURITY
JUST TOSS IT DOWN THE DRAIN
I'M PROUD TO STAND IN MY SHOES
I'M PERFECT IN MY WAY
AND I KNOW THAT ONE DAY SOON
I'LL BE STRONG ENOUGH TO SAY
I HAVE NO MORE FEARS
I'VE RELEASED ALL MY SELF DOUBTS
I'VE CHASED OFF MY DEMONS
REALIZED THAT I COUNT
HAD ENOUGH OF FEELING WORTHLESS
LONELY AND AFRAID
NO MORE GOING BACKWARDS
IT'S A PROMISE THAT I MADE
Still the Worst Job Ever
How do I hold thee, let me count the ways.
I hold thee trembling, beneath kitchen sinks
crouched in the darkness of the brightest days
guiding thy beam as his patience shrinks.
I hold thee dulled by lightning’s fearsome flash
shakily awaiting unseen anger
tortured by the inevitable crash
intrigued by the neediness of danger.
I hold thee wide eyed in dirt-floored cellar
your flame slow flickering on edge of sight
dimming through the range of yellowed color
draining the darkness from a darkened night.
I hold thee, for my brothers all have fled
I hold thee, not knowing what they dread.

That summer day was cooling down just right
We kind of borrowed his dad's custom van
But Rick didn't care he said " it's Friday night"
He punched the gas and headed for Jackson
Determined to party, we had beer on ice
The sun went down just when we got to Main
A quarter mile long, so we ran it twice
Nothing going on, this was getting lame
He swung the van around with a big moan
Cranked up the stereo and yawned real wide
Two girls were standing there at the pay phone
We never did stop, I yelled "want a ride"
Someone did said something, so we backed up
We ended up talking about a double date
The pizza parlor across the street, duh
And just thirty minutes later, well we were late
Pam had this gorgeous sun bleached golden hair
Maria was.. Maria was perfect for Rick
We took off for just about anywhere
The lookout point seemed to do the trick
The love that grew between us was so strong
We got married in Jackson, my Mom's plan
I'm a grandpa now, just where I belong
Late, but he did make it, Rick my best man
Where I live, a bunch of idiots work at the DMV.
They proved that by giving a drivers license to me.
When I drive, I constantly drive in the wrong lane.
Some people call me stupid, others call me insane.
If you're on the same road while I'm driving,
you won't have much of a chance of surviving.
I've wrecked so many cars that my insurance company no longer pays.
If you ever see me driving in your neighborhood, you really should pray.
If you're out walking while I'm driving, you sure will need to get out of my way.
Because if you don't, your next of kin will be informed that you've passed away.
I drive extremely bad during the night and even worse in the rain.
When I die, my body will be donated to science but they won't accept my brain.
When people see me coming, they lose bladder control and pee.
The gospel truth is that even drunk drivers drive better than me.
Its funny how people say Time flies
When I try to watch him, he just stood still
I belive he heals all wounds
But people always say they are just trying to kill Time
It doesn't seem quite right
I heard there is no Time like the present
I always think of him in the past
They say he changes everything
But i've always found him to be more constant
Maybe even repetitive
He can be silent, but he also speaks
He can love, and he can hate
He is in war, but also in peace
I think I heard that somewhere...
People say there is never enough of him
Maybe I will feel the same when my Time comes
Or perhaps, when Time comes for me
I found a new friend today
A friend to take my fears away
It is a friend that you must buy
It has a name, its called a high
It seems to be the latest style,
" You're welcome here, let's smoke awhile. "
It turns me loose, it sets me free
From the dullness of reality.
But sometimes though I start to wonder
Does it lift me up or drag me under?
The fears it took were only hidden
And feelings seem to be forbidden.
Now my friend has turned on me
And thus become my enemy.
I think about the price I pay
And go get high anyway.
Inside it seems I'm always crying
Why do I feel as if I'm dying?
What’s the worst thing that can happen?
As you go through daily life.
What’s the worst thing that can happen?
With the troubles in your life.
What’s the worst thing that can happen?
As my father used to say!
What’s the worst thing that can happen?
We will all find out one day.
