I wish I were a Unicorn
So smooth and white with shiny horn
To prance and dance on clouds up there
And spend my days surveying air

I'd stop and visit clouds of rain-
Those darker ones, which are a pain
When they release their water flow
   On earthly beings down below

I'd then check out a fluffy one
The kind that always blocks the sun
It would be best to take a snooze
While 'neath blue sky I'd float and cruise

I'd love clouds more at sunset time
When glowing colors make them shine
A Unicorn would like it best
   Upon a cloud that's shiniest

At night, I'd fly up near the moon
See how the tides are kept in tune
Come morn, I'd go close to the sun
To see how brand new dawn is done

Again at dark, some stardust find
The finest and most brilliant kind
To sprinkle on my wings of white
And store to share the starry light

Perhaps I'd make it way up far
To find the place where blessings are
I'd seek the ones with greater worth
And gently throw them down to earth

I wish I were a Unicorn
So smooth and white with shiny horn
I'd monitor the earth below
To sprinkle it with stardust glow

Premium Member If Only My Wish Would Come True

Images of children dwelling in developing world
In plight of poverty~~ some two billion strong,
Fly a flag of existence, waving distress unfurled,
Crooning mournful song: is this where we belong?

Struggling in parched lands of bared dreary sights
World they live in is the world they have known,
Where days of emptiness cede to dreary nights
Churning nightmares as dreams vacant bemoan.

Wishing upon an angel~ I would endeavor to plead
For turning places despaired into domains of hope,
For means to educate, learn skills, write and read,
For rewriting will of destiny, while striving to cope.

If I could bend sorrow and the fate of tomorrow
Seeds of knowledge I’ll sow in the dreaded woe
Marveling the fields of wisdom sprout and grow
As minds edified glow, defying misery’s shadow.

My wish for peace echoes benevolence spurred
As hymns of unity in the temple of goodwill toll
And calls of equity from endearing hearts heard
Reverberate harmony in euphony of sublime soul.

I wish upon a candle, for world to join a sing-along
Lauding pledges of love to spur the youth on and on
Cheering to acclaim: this is where the kids belong~
In benevolence of hearts, over seven billion strong.

I wish I was a mountain
With a bold gray granite face
My only tears a waterfall
That magnifies my grace
Each passing cloud, a misty shroud
Which adds to my mystique
Majestically, I'd wear a crown
Of jagged snow-capped peaks

Adorned with trees of all species
A wildlife sanctuary
My slopes I'd share with deer and bear
The bald eagle our emissary
With the wisdom of a billion years
I'd gained through flood and drought
We'd live in peace and harmony
That humans live without

about learning new things?

THE WISH - POTD

POTD 23rd Nov 2023

THE WISH

As the softer rose shades of twilight fades
With a heartfelt gravity, darkness descends
Oblivious to the North winds stinging bite
‘Neath this star-speckled sky, his devotion extends

to that quintessential ‘Component of Time’ that stills
surrendering to the moment, most mortals miss
In this mystical flash of sweet dispose
His ardent wish for her ~ An ‘Immortal Rose’

His Mother ~ so graciously accepting her thorns
Qualms have not stolen her persona, its joy
Unbent by toil, a conqueror of storms
A courageous heroine in the eyes of her boy

Why can’t love embodied in rose petals last?
In solemn simplicity, a child’s query gets passed
Swathe in crystalline warmth from a galaxy far
Gifted Immortality is borne ~ on wings of a star

Premium Member Your Last Wish

"recently scenes of early life have stolen into my mind, like breezes blown" - Samuel Taylor Coleridge

I walk the shore alone beside your voice
How alive it seems, chiming with the wind
Its chant as ancient as the sea

Here, the cliff where we first saw the sea
Here you proposed with a shake in your voice
My whispered 'Yes' snatched by the willful wind

Your last wish: your ashes, set free on the wind
The waves break sadly, forlorn from the sea
As I turn to the pull of yesterday's voice

Your voice on the wind lures me to the sea

A WISH -- In Memory Of

"I Wish"

I wish I could blow air into your little lungs,
The day my daughter brought your stillborn body into this world.
Hold your little body warm,
And tell my little girl you have her cute little nose....
Count your little fingers, and kiss your little toes....

I wish,
I could look into your daring eyes,
Facing a little boy, who's ready for this world
I wish,
I could tell my daughter you have her beautiful brown eyes...
Sadly, it’s not like that.
How can I tell my daughter everything will be all right?
When a piece of my heart was stolen with her's,
When giving birth to her son, my grandson
March 25, 2013---- How it Hurts!
~~~
O’ how I wish, you entered this world crying
Instead, we're the ones left in tears of sorrow
~~~
How I wish you could be,
And not this feeling you left inside
How I wish, God could explain why o' why o' why?

Mostly, I WISH grandma could fix this and make
your mommy feel, the joy she was robbed of.

My Wish For You

I wish for you long lives together
With more sunshine days than stormy weather,
To always share your laughs and tears
Support each other through your fears.
And when things get rough, as they sometimes will
Take each others hand and climb that hill.
When life is good and you're on cloud nine,
Rejoice and be thankful that all is fine.
I pray your life together will be blessed
Always try to do your best,
Hug, love be faithful and strong,
May your journey together be full of song.
To one another always be true,
These are the things that I wish for you.

2nd June 2017

I wrote and read this in Church yesterday for the marriage of my daughter Lucy and son in lawTom. Such a magical day was had by all. Blessings to them.

My Wish

Hello Ms. Johnson, I’m sure this sounds strange
our mutual friend, said you need a change.
She told me how hard you work every day,
come home to your children, no time for play.

Your husband left you without any money
and traded family, for tainted honey.
You work as a nurse, working hard for each dime,
yet nothing’s left over at holiday time.

A holiday spent solely enjoying life,
playing with your kids no worry and no strife.
this dream keeps you going, each and every day,
my dear Ms. Johnson I believe I have a way.

I have a house with an awesome ocean view
for two weeks Ms. Johnson, it belongs to you.
I’m going on a journey and would find it grand
if you could watch my house and enjoy my strand.

If you and your children would like to come here,
believe me Ms. Johnson you’ve nothing to fear.
When you call Janet, she’ll give you my number,
my wish for you is a little less cumber.

Christmas Wish

When i wake from my happy dream
I remember magic did appear
Angels sang and freedom rang
and you and I were there

We sat amongst the flowing fields
with fauna all around
I held you tight through the night
never making but a sound

Before we woke three words we spoke
which were meaningless until today
as we kissed under the acient oak
I asked you if you'd stay

For I have dreamt and I have wished
for a love that will ring true
so a Christmas Wish I ask of you
is for you to love me too.

Premium Member Six Slopes

The six steep slopes they gave me..
yes, all were mine.

I can give them to you..
if you wish them.

Though they tend to be.,
unkind.

Don't wait for them to love,
or understand,
or forgive..

It's not their way.

They serve only to light a path,
show you the way.

Discover who you are, yes,
and where you come from.

It's what you always asked,
and all you ever prayed.

Don't look too far forward,
they'll make sure you're blind..

Understand that you are all that matters
not them, not us, not time.

Premium Member I Wish I Could

I wish l could bottle kindness and cuddles
In little coloured bottles happy and bright
To produce and share in abundance
This would be my plight

I would give to the lost and lonely
To the addicted, sad, afraid
To the sick, vulnerable, uncertain
Spread it world wide ….my crusade

I would give it to the selfish, cruel and mean
So they could experience being kind
Feel the joy and see the difference it can make
Perhaps, and “only perhaps” it could help sway their minds

Most importantly l would give to the kind ones
The unselfish who care and constantly give
Kindness being innate to them
Worthy , deserving…. as kindness they live

Humans need and gain from acts of kindness
Whether big , small or seemingly not much
Along with a caring heartfelt cuddle
The closeness and comfort from human touch

I know bottles of kindness and cuddles
Will not bring major change or world peace
Though step by step and little by little
Positive changes will increase

Premium Member Wish For Acceptance

My greatest wish is for humanity
Treating each other with civility
Regardless of each one’s ethnicity
All men should be treated with dignity

For when I hear of discrimination
It generates the greatest repulsion
And so as not to create confusion
Every religion deserves inclusion

Judging books by their covers can only bring
More hate, intolerance as hope takes wing
If we could learn to be more accepting
Bells of world peace would surely be chiming

So join me now in prayer for acceptance
And an end to widespread intolerance
Beyond war there will be a transcendence
Through God’s plan we’ll live in benevolence
