My Wish

I wish I was a mountain
With a bold gray granite face
My only tears a waterfall
That magnifies my grace
Each passing cloud, a misty shroud
Which adds to my mystique
Majestically, I'd wear a crown
Of jagged snow-capped peaks

Adorned with trees of all species
A wildlife sanctuary
My slopes I'd share with deer and bear
The bald eagle our emissary
With the wisdom of a billion years
I'd gained through flood and drought
We'd live in peace and harmony
That humans live without

So very true, so moving Daniel. I would love to travel to another part of the world and experience interesting things in nature. I'm sure an archeologist would especially enjoy your poem, as I did. "majestic and mystique" so perfectly descriptive of your poem's theme. It is sad to me.. that cutting down a huge tree... can be like losing years.. of history. A well loved poem, that I appreciated being able to read.

Thank you, Marikate. Cutting down trees is like killing an animal on the endangered species list. They are about the only thing there is that cleans our air. I appreciate your kind comments and support..

Mountains are commonly referred to as Majestic, touching the horizon standing tall aiming high…. You gave it a face, a character and pride of a human, with your usual monumental, no pun intended, punch - a granite mountain rising over flaws of a man! Great statue of a poem, Daniel!

Thank you, Maggie. i don't have much faith in mankind but I do have faith in nature. "Don't (dirty word) with Mother Nature!" Humans are too greedy and too arrogant to learn. Great too see you again:)

Hi Daniel, Wow, a very poignant piece; it truly fits into what is going on in our country now. The human condition needs to take more stock in how nature and the natural world around us thrives in calm, truth and peace. A beautiful write. Take Care, Paulette

This is a unique poem. Great example of what if. I can do without crying, myself. Unless, it's the way you put it in your poem. Thanks for sharing. Peace, Angie

Thank you Jerry. However, I am sure the rock is more beautiful than a few words. So nice to see you again. I could have sworn I sent you a SM checking up on you but maybe not. I am getting older and my memory tends to play cruel tricks on me. I hope you and yours are well.

Daniel, I came here from Wayne's blog and glad for it. Though it's rare for me to read them and rarer to reply. Can a poem move mountains? Can a blog bring on change? There is wonderful stuff in both. -Richard
