Opal Stars, Velvet Dreams

~
My thirst now deep ~ I long to quench
to sip this periwinkle wine
In goblets cut of harvest moons
impassioned pleas now cast of time

Tender kisses ~ sonnets placed
on fevered lips near rainbow streams
In golden castles made of sand
I've knelt beside you in my dreams

As whispered winds ~ I've called to you
before the dew of morning beads
and sunlight forms the northern star,
in measured breaths of tempted needs

In rustled leaves ~ I've heard your voice
beneath the dark where crickets play
That echoed through my aching heart
harmonic to the light of day

From mountain top ~ my vision soars
‘cross fertile valleys emerald green
In search of perfect precious love
amidst this beauty I have seen

Beyond the shades ~ of here and now
I've felt your breath beneath my skin
I've tasted sweet your tender smile
and felt the longing deep within

For in this mist ~ of moistened glow
the heart reflects on distant wing
In melodies of long ago,
desires silent evenings bring

With opal stars ~ I write your name
in shimmered streaks across the night
Where darkened velvet curtains fall
on windswept dreams of sweet delight

And now we stand ~ together pure
a' glow this jasmine moon above
Two fires of a single flame
among the rhyme of written love

Wishes fly ~ on silver whims
far beyond each silent cloud
As evening finds us lost again
in precious love forever vowed

~ a Velvet Rose ~

She writes with such fragrance....

Her words, like flowers

Flowing from her pen

Eyes like the ocean

Serenity, that never ends

The softness of her touch

Her heart melting from within

Such gentleness of colors

Like the still warming wind....

On journies she takes us

Her vision our eyes

The breath of her breathing

Brings life deep inside

A passage, her picture

These sands of her shores

I whisper her majestic

I long for her more....

Smiling as I see her

The breeze dancing through her hair

Such glory, her figure

Radiant I stare

At her light, this lady

Her wrappings of care....

Gentle is her essence

With her pureness profound

Her grace as she walks

As she passes I bow

To her wonders, her treasures

Her life, I bow....

For never have my eyes

Beheld such as she

Never in this life

Have I found such a dream

Her eloquence, her meakness

Her enchanting soul

Painting this canvas, her portrait

This splendor, for all to behold....

To love with such passion

The worlds hand, that she holds

Her fragrance, like flowers...."Her Beauty!"

I love the way you melt into my eyes,
And speak to me in fluency unheard,
That says to me your lust is on the rise,
My body and my mind by you quite stirred.

Impassioned arms, we're craving hot embrace,
And right before our yearning lips do kiss,
Ignited heat of heartbeats face to face,
We linger in this moment of pre-bliss.

You take me o'er the moon my shooting star,
To galaxies and realms our Milky Way,
In velvet nights of endless repertoire,
On astral planes besprinkled with risque.

Exotic dance in swirls of ecstasy,
That whirl us to new heights so breathlessly.

Premium Member THE ROSE OF VELVET TIME

On the dim lit streets of New York town
You danced for uncrowned kings
The whiskey harsh upon your lips
With eyes that could not see

And I'd await by the ocean's shore
With the horses tethered fast
For dawn would draw you homeward
From each exotic dance

You sought for what M'lady
While youth a withered vine
I had but love to give you
The rose of velvet time

In silks and pleasure lay your dreams
As stone became your heart
And I rode fast upon the winds
But your voice bade me come back

So life remained until the morn
When the music lost all rhyme
A sad goodbye upon the grave
The rose of velvet time

Blue Velvet

Lost in a sea of blue velvet
she dances, by the rhythm of aquamarine eyes
Beneath a parapet of stars where no one can foretell,
the sparkle of a smile is waving its goodbyes;
to loneliness
to sorrow
to solitude of morrow
Soft landings on the moon, they hold on to each other
as they twirl inside an ocean of cobalt blue;
Above, the heavens like birds of paradise soar
dipping their hearts inside each others gold
until they are no more.
The world falls away at their feet
as two star crossed lovers become love's paraclete
in a dreamers world
where fantasies curl
the azure blue hurl
of a boy and a girl.

Velvet Bruises

I was the sin you committed in the forbidden twilight
Oh darling -
We were a fever, not forever!
Yearning for a fated phantom.

A feverish temptation;
You fed me illusions, sweet as poison,
Only to shatter the blighted world we held close,
When I hungered for your poisonous embrace!

Cherry lips and empty promises.
A candle in the hurricane,
I was the perfect almost you desired -
A kiss carved in smoke.

Velvet Wings

Ignorant to passing time
Reality strikes its deafening chime
Unspoken words pass between
I and you, my darling queen

Lay your weary head to rest
With your arms across your chest
Now it's time to close your eyes
Whisper your final goodbyes

Let me go, we'll both be free
Cross the wasteland, past the sea
Find the path to heaven's light
Break away from endless night

Embracing tears of bitter pain
Falling lightly with the rain
Out of reach, I hear your song
Alone again, I sing along

Let me go, we'll both be free
Cross the wasteland, past the sea
Find the path to heaven's light
Break away from endless night

From the night. . .
I watched your velvet wings take flight
I never saw you so alive
So alive
I watched your velvet wings take flight
I'll never ever say goodbye
Never say goodbye

Life has ended, you have won
Death befriended, pain is gone
Fly away into the light
Crystal clear and shining bright
Close your eyes for final rest
Meeting among the blessed

Let me go, we'll both be free
Cross the wasteland, past the sea
Find the path to heaven's light
Break away from endless night

From the night. . .
I watched your velvet wings take flight
I never saw you so alive
So alive
I watched your velvet wings take flight
I'll never ever say goodbye
Never say goodbye

I let you go so you'll be free
Cross the path of darkened sea
I watched your velvet wings take flight
I can never say goodbye
Never say goodbye

Premium Member When Velvet Turns To Stone

When velvet turns to stone
When heart forgets the home
When lovebirds all have flown
When only hate is shown

When kindness turns to night
When blindness covers sight
When fear chases delight
When dreams have taken flight

When trust is torn in two
When old gives way to new
When dry replaces dew
When words are listless, few

True velvet will remain
The texture still the same
It lives up to its name
Plush softness is its claim
It will not suffer blame
It will not taste of shame

True velvet will remain……

Velvet Night

On a warm, velvet summer night,
When moonlight drips in a soft SIGH,
The scents of LILACS bathe starlight
And CAJOLE crickets to reply.

MISTY castles enchant SLUMBER
On a warm, velvet summer night
Spent hearts dream in shades of umber
In mystical moonstruck half-light.

Midnight mistrals, rufous bobwhites,
Chirp with sweet sonata finesse
On a warm, velvet summer night
Soft breath of summer seeks to bless.

ETCHING calm into WEARY eyes
Sweet wine of sleep nuzzles midnight
Dulcet GUITAR blooms – sweet tones rise –
On a warm, velvet summer night.

Premium Member Green Velvet

Impoverished, destitute no money to spare
This woman with green eyes and cascading hair
On a mission to find something to wear
Impress she must as though she hadn't a care
Green velvet drapes hanging in her foyer
Torn down and fashioned just for her
This woman in green shown like a mare
Femme fatal, Scarlett O'Hara, as no others compare
Dressed to kill as only she dare
In the green dress that she did wear

Come Float With Me On Velvet Sound

Come float with me on velvet sound

Come float with me on velvet sound
as music wafts the evening air
With melodies of hope now found
and timeless days we both shall share

The setting sun of beacons bright,
so full of life and amber glow
Does dance the heavens curtained light,
brought forth in this, its daily show

To walk this course, the songs we sing,
that lovers feel and hearts do shine
As harmonies of dusk now ring
in rhythms which are set to time

For dreams you see are cast in gold
soft linings on a shimmered sky
Till twilight lends its somber soul
of silhouettes to pass us by

Where shadows play a subtle game
to win but only heart's desire
And passions form the poet's flame
in words that you alone require

Of patterns pure on violet skies,
enlightened as the moon beams pass
To see your face before my eyes
and know your kiss does come at last

For it is always what I dream
in lasting sound of lyrics true
To lay before this twilight scene
and sing a song of love to you

Premium Member The Velvet Beach

Let me walk along the velvet beach,
collecting shells upon crushed stretch.
Sun rearing-up a nine year old — teach
her to be happy, care-free, an oceanic sketch.

Eyes wide open, examine the gifts of the sea.
Brunette hair cascading over the shoulders.
Her bare feet stride through shifting sands free.
The past warms me in this present colder.

With curiosity in seaswept zephyr-ease,
each open shell would land a nesting place.
Her caress of lovely fingerlings, bent knees,
behold a prize...the shellac of time and space.

Piece by piece, a plan from Auntie’s coving.
We’d dip into the shapes, shades, and whispering,
pleasure and pleasantries ensconced in loving
of the sea through the inner ear of offerings.

Tunnels of God—great in mercy and grace.
Small but cared for, this daughter and niece,
sister and friend — so much ancestry to trace
in each universe of person, place and the deceased.

Premium Member Weep Not For Velvet Petals

Each day another velvet petal fell
like somber tears from weeping eyes.
A perfect flower was severed to quell
and lay withering as it droops and dies.

Flawless flower, from bud to bloom...
sweet-scented rose, it was no wonder
that stifled in that sepulcher room
you are enshrined, awaiting plunder.

Sadness lingers in me over your demise.
Withered petals are always a cause for pain,
but I'll remember you without tears in my eyes
for the memory of your fragrance shall e'er remain.
