Weep Not For Velvet Petals

Each day another velvet petal fell like somber tears from weeping eyes. A perfect flower was severed to quell and lay withering as it droops and dies. Flawless flower, from bud to bloom... sweet-scented rose, it was no wonder that stifled in that sepulcher room you are enshrined, awaiting plunder. Sadness lingers in me over your demise. Withered petals are always a cause for pain, but I'll remember you without tears in my eyes for the memory of your fragrance shall e'er remain.

All living things must die and there is a sadness in the wilt and death of a beautiful rose. My husband always bought me roses each week, even tho we had a rose garden. He loved them. Your lovely poem brought back those bittersweet memories Lin. Blessings xxoo

Good morning, Connie. I seem to remember you mentioning his love for roses and bringing them to you so often. That must be a bittersweet memory. Thank you for reading this one. It's an oldie, but one of my favorites.

Lin, this is a sweet, lovely poem revering the dying blossom for its fragrance. I was somehow reminded of The Last Leaf. Enjoyed it immensely.

Thank you, Milt. It's a rewrite of a poem I posted years ago. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
