What is Love

Trust - unconditionally in that someone special.
Faith - and devotion through divine destiny.
Contentment - in knowing love is equally reciprocated.
Soul connection - that tethers a couple together forever.

Premium Member A String of Pearls

So this is the way the moon remembers,...
by reaching into yesterday
I hold her pearls against the light,
and see a strand that tethers time

With envy now, the night is awed
Covetously, it fondles rows
of tiny orbs. Which, one by one,
are miracles, with moons, within

This strand of pearls, with a diamond clasp,
caressed her hair, her porcelain neck.
Still here for me, within my grasp,
to remind me of Glenn Miller songs,
and mother dancing long ago.

The moon was watching, and it knows
she wore them like another skin,
long before my life began.

A grain of sand, then pearls became
a part of her, .... a part of me.

So fragile, weak, the thread is bare.
As if the sun might gaze too long,
or moon's regard could wear and fray,
that the pearls would spill and fall away.

Perhaps such things meant to be.
Each miracle has just a while.
Glenn Miller songs have come and gone.
I'll put the pearls away for now,
so the moon can own the night again

Premium Member Un-Ruffled Feathers

I didn’t ask for help.
Yet someone heard
my inward crying voice
without a word.

“When the student is ready
a teacher will appear”
somehow it seems these teachers
pop up everywhere.

Their words were subtle
pointed darts
that caused me endless
fits, and starts.

There was no Hallelujah Chorus
no heraldry of trumpets din
just a presence in my life
every now and then.

I never asked for help
yet somehow they saw my need
and placed within my heart
an ever growing seed.

They cut the bindings loose
freed me from my tethers
drifted slowly through my life
without ruffling my feathers.

Premium Member Swaddled In Angel's Wings

"Life offers divine moments that can only be shared with an angel."
                                                                                        ~ by poet

Softly, she swaddled me within the warmth of welcoming wings
I shared my shadowed secrets, then she spoke in subdued voice
'Do not dwell in darkness and despair for your sweet soul sings
of sorrow for your sins. Repentance gives you reason to rejoice'

'From the courage of confessing comes clemency of concession
You have found favor with God and garnered His good graces
He has heard your heartfelt words, and my own in intercession
Our Father forgives you, and with empathy, eagerly embraces'

Tenderly, she touched me, tempering the torrent of my tears
Held me close, calmly confiding, 'Your bane of burdens I bear'
When her weeping wet my cheeks, faith freed me from fears
My adoring angel sighed, 'Persevere by praising God in prayer'

Then her golden gossamer wings fluttered their fragile feathers
Graciously given to me was a glorious gift. Solace cut the strings
that kept my suffering soul trussed in tenterhooks and tethers,
for I'd been safely swaddled within an angel's welcoming wings.

Premium Member Light that lights all lights

“we look for that light eternal
that does not come and go
the screen upon which life plays
cognised in staid stillness slow” ~ Unseeking Seeker

I flow like silken ripples
through mirrored lakes,
a lotus sprouting from
mountain streams,
soaked in the saffron
warmth of summer’s flare,
jeweled in citrine pearls of purity.

Awaiting galaxies of clarity
to unveil an emerald estuary,
streaming in sizzling serenity,
oblivious to the searing strings
of fickle tethers pulling
this delicate psyche
toward an abyss filled
with superficial scraps,
fragmented dreams,
and empty conch shells,
tearing my fragile skin
with splinters and sea glass,
reflecting the inflated ego
of a wanderer adrift
amidst ferocious tides.

O sacred skies,
adorned with starry scars,
I’ve long searched in vain
through a salt-soaked
cave of confusion
for twirling diamonds
and fragrant fireworks
to grant me an eternal
haven of celestial calligraphy
carved in halcyon ink,
unaware of the silver flecks
sparkling deep within my soul.

Must I forever be lost,
like languid leaves
pressed between chapters
of seasonal souvenirs,
or should I rise like
a mythical bird,
engrossed in golden musings,
a tameless seeker
   of zestful zephyrs?

I am softened
streaks of twilight,
breathing ethereal dust,
while dancing to
the swirling silhouettes
above cosmic candles,
illuminating the orchid
orchard of consciousness,
as this heart beats to
the blissful rhythm
of an untouched breeze,
curating magnetic alchemy,
to harmonize inner music
in mellifluous mindfulness.

I am the light that
lights all the lights,
the undying glow
within supernova lanterns.
I am the artist
painting my own paradise,
immersed in topaz tunes
of an Elysian empire,
where divine scriptures
of the Almighty
conduct a choir
of continuous compassion.

So let the gates of your gaze
rest in singing silence,
listen to the unspoken reality,
echoing like tranquil rhymes
within a sonnet etched from
mystical moonbeams,
for between these lines~
floats the lunar wings,
manifesting a rosier awakening,
as my faith is the conqueror
       of crystalline constellations,
forever basking in the euphoric glory
   of tulsi dawn.

Premium Member The Hanging Tree

Dead men tell no tails, or so the winds of
Destiny’s say.
On judgment hill from on high,
Voices do echo downwards, as the
Noose does sway, back and forth, on the
Hangman's tree.
These gallows, of oaken branches, act as tethers,
Shackles, holding the forsaken, souls prisoner.
Ghost phantoms cling, to it's rotten limbs,
That break beneath times endless rampage.
Regrets fallen horsemen, of the old west,
Stand guard, sentinels on horse back,
Wearing a tarnished tin star.
God's law keepers, are branded, sworn,
By their honor, to protect even after death,
The gates of heaven, from this spawn of hell.
Beware evil desperadoes, no mercy will
This the lord's posses show unto you,
For these riders bare a different mark.
A silver cross of justice, given by
The Almighty’s hand himself.
Say thy prayers, all lawless men,
For on this day, does the rope tighten,
Around your neck, there is no reprieve,
No salvation for evils deceit.
Hell bound are thou, the devils breed.
But beware, there is no escape,
From this grave site.
At dawns first light, as it spreads
 Across the western horizon.
Know that yee, are one of many spirits
Doomed, to be weaved within the
Tangled limbs, called the hang
Mans tree.

Old Blue

I’ve been lost for days now, an’ all the country looks the same.
I’ve been walkin’ ‘round in circles, an’ found my footsteps once again.
Me ‘tucker’ bags been empty for, three days an’ there’s this ragin’ thirst.
I feel my tethers at its end. I can only fear the worst.

I must keep these tired legs strugglin’ on toward the mirage up ahead.
I pass the bones of sheep an’ roo’s, an’ quietly shudder at the dead.
There’s not a livin’ thing around, ‘cept ‘Old Blue’ at me feet,
he’s lookin’ more like mutton now, an’ good enough to eat.

I stumbled to a creek bed, where red gums offered shade,
with one of my last three matches, a little fire was made.
‘Old Blue’ looked bravely up at me, he knew there’s nought to eat.
And I’m sure my old dog realised, he was the only meat …

‘Old Blue’ laid beside the campfire, but was lookin’ pretty scant,
for he never had his coat on now. He couldn’t bark or pant.
I thanked him in a sobbin’ grace … cut slices off him with a knife.
A real mate was me old dog ‘Blue’. I know he saved me life.

‘Old Blue’ deserves a medal, for the dedication he has shown.
He’d know that I was upset now, ‘cause I hate eatin’ on me own.
Old memories came floodin’ back, now I’m full I feel so sad,
as I recall the good times, ‘Old Blue’ and I have had.

I stared into the glowin’ embers, an’ watched ‘em slowly die.
With what was goin’ through me head, a tear fell from me eye,
I sadly eyed the little pile that had built up on the stones …
Thinkin’ ‘Gee I wish that Blue was here … he would’a loved them bones’.

Premium Member Oblivion

Hiding in the shadows
dementia devastates;
as sanity slowly
begins slipping away.

When your memory fails,
life loses its meaning;
and you become depressed;
bewildered, and confused.

Your heart morphs into a
desolate derelict;
a floundering vessel
not even love can save.

Hope's quickly depleted,
for trust doesn't exist;
only time remains true,
in this facade of lies.

And when reality's
stranger than any dream;
Alzheimer's tethers your
soul to oblivion.

Reap the Rewards of Gods True Love

Baby, Cant we just stop and begin again
Satan has got us in a headspin
I refuse to just let him win
We are on that bumpy road of sin
Please baby, let's stop and begin
With Gods love growing Within

For our spirit runs so deep
While we reap the reward from Gods true love
Just makes me want to try
Looking for all the answers why
Believing he provides us with the good book
So we never have to get shook
We should not fear this hellish atmosphere
We both know God is everywhere

Satan just wants us in dispare
So let's be aware
How we can walk right through his snare
With how much we love and care
All of this stress causing us to be so reckless
I would rather think about you in your wedding dress

Why can't we see
God only wants the best for you and me
Even if we have to stop and begin again
Letting Gods love dwell within
Learning to live without sin
Then our love and trust will weather
Any evil stunt satan tethers

Our love is here to stay
In every possible way
Chained to my heart
God playing such a significant part
In the biggest display
To ever come our way
Knowing we have what it takes
making it possible for love to sway
I pray God blesses it every day
Keeping Satan out of play

Premium Member Gift of Recovery

A black cloud envelops my sky
Threatening to rain down a torrent of pain
Oceans of commotion swirl in my brain
And I try to bandage the wounds in vain

I see only the receding vistas of light
And night prowling like a stealthy thief
The past chills the mind like hanging icicles
And I feel so heavy with frozen grief

I inch my way up like an ugly snail
My life is riddled with contradictions
Oh, I am waylaid, lost and beaten
From every corner, I meet only oppositions

Yet dreams break forth in my heart
Amidst darkness shines a light
A call to spirit to seek the gift of recovery
Transforming pain into strength and delight

I must break loose of all the tethers
Let my soul embrace all that is dear
From this cage, I must fly out
The sky beyond me lies blue and clear!

Even at moments when we feel,
God has forsaken us, time assures;
However bad things are, recovery is possible,
When God is there quelling all our fears.

Now I am on a journey of redemption
I tell myself- “Come out from this hell
Just start anew, nothing is beyond recovery
The dawn is near and all shall be well”

Premium Member The Sound of Rain

Gently close your eyes
And pay attention.
Wallow in the state of calmness
And mentally snip off
All tethers of here and now.
Escape to a blissful,
Uncharted no man's land.
Just listen attentively.
Hear that?
Ah, the sound of rain...

                         What could be more soothing?

Thousands of drums,
Simultaneously beating;
Rain rattling the roof
To make your joyous spirit dance.
Take time to listen
To the sound of rain pelting the roof.
Relax and empty your mind.
Surrender to glorious serenity.
Explore your imagination
And let it run wild.

                       What could be more enchanting?

Premium Member Sanctuary

"If there is a place where peace and stillness prevail, to it people like to retreat when beset with the perils of life. It can be our home. In every storm it is a refuge, a haven of joy and a sanctuary of life and light" ~By Poet

We have a snug retreat far in the woods;
An interim sanctuary, not bigger than a robin’s nest.
But cozy and comfy for just two souls,
A hideout from the fuss n’ fever of life.
It has a small garden hemmed with a hedge,
Neatly laid out in décor and taste
And gleaming with refreshing verdure
The haunt of butterflies and honey bees.

An ideal place to sneak away now and then,
From life’s pressing cares and concerns.
Here the air is pristine sans soot and fumes.
A confluence where peace and beauty unite.
Here we break loose the tethers
From the rigid civilities of urban living.
Throw away the habits of reserve
And become joyous and free-hearted.

Sometimes we make an impromptu trip.
Sometimes we plan it well in advance.
Whatever it be, being here is fun
And enjoy our stay like a weekend picnic.
On some evenings we go gathering,
Succulent fruits and wild berries
And roam to the wide stretch of open fields
Lying furrowed waiting for seasonal crops.

More than ever we now seek solitude.
It is in the quiet and not in the noise,
That we can plumb life’s depths,
That we listen to our hearts’ songs.
It is here our souls acquire dove’s wings.
Though time has taken its toll on our bodies,
Though youth and beauty have gone forever,
Still, we walk in the woods with hands clasped.

In this sanctuary, we breathe free and find comfort
Where sunshine scatters through the canopy of trees
And are sheltered from the pressing responsibilities of life!

Premium Member Tethered To My Happy

My inner child
That silly self
My mischievous one
The one, who tethers me to my happy

I languish in his joyfulness
He sprinkles stardust in my eyes
I laugh with his exuberance
He says what he thinks
His is the voice of my honesty
Sure, sometimes he gets me in trouble
Occasionally, bursting a bubble
Yet with him, my world is double

He knows how to have fun
I'm getting older but together we run
He sees no limits
So neither do I
He's the reason, I want to try
His imagination, helps me fly

So, I thank my inner child
My portal to happy, my source of wild
He is the very essence of me
The truer part, who sets me free
He does not think, he let's me be

So if you see, a glimmer in my eye
It's most likely, my little guy
He'd love to meet your inner child
The one who's happy, a little wild
Together they have games to play
Don't keep him or her
Locked away

My Drealocks Lover

MY DREADLOCKS LOVER

Your dreadlocks flutters like streamers
Your thick dreadlocks spreads like tethers
Your eyes are like coffee mix with white lily

My lover,
I come from a beautiful place
Where they believe dread is a taboo
Pronouncing the word Da-da is a grievous sin
Where you are told what to believe
And even hate what you believe

In between my Momma's damnation, my Poppa's bellicose, and my usual rebuttal of indifference
All began because of you.

I am told to stop loving you
I am told you are a lie
I am told you are an illusion
I am told that contemporary history books may forget my name
Because of you.

I was told that Spartan Hoplites wore a formal locks but you don't
Why?

Are all dreads dreadful?
Dreads are not dreadful,is it?

I love every strand of your dread
Marley's midnight ravers resonates my love for you
You are the worst thing that has happened to me
I blame my soul for being a courier to the wind
I won't allow religion to destroy our love

All my sins,
All my memories,
All my ideas,
My love for art,
I'll tie into your dreadlocks like a scrapbook
I'll hold all very close to my heart with a marked cowries for every event

Dreads are for legends!
Dreads are myths!
Dreads are locks to our soul.

Premium Member Picking Up the Pieces of My Heart

PICKING UP THE PIECES OF MY HEART

Thunderstorms and lightening,
Can be very frightening,
Stormy weather keeps reminding me of you

Sometimes I don’t feel like waking,
My emotions keep on quaking,
And, my heart keeps breaking over you

Where’s my happy ever after
The rain drowns all the laughter
Hope hangs from the rafters, after losing you

Chorus
Picking up the pieces of my heart
This time you have gone way too far
I can see it clearly, loving you wasn’t that smart
(Now I'm) picking up the pieces of my heart

I always thought we’d be together
After promising forever
Forever’s gone, now that the tethers torn in two

Now my summers turned to winter
And my hearts left in splinters
You must have felt that I would hinder you

Chorus
Picking up the pieces of my heart
This time you have gone way too far
I can see it clearly, loving you wasn’t that smart
(Now I'm) picking up the pieces of my heart

Bridge
You can’t tell when love begins
If it will last, or if it ends
Isn’t that the mystery of it all
The ecstasy when love rises,
and the crashing as it falls

Chorus
Picking up the pieces of my heart
This time you have gone way too far
I can see it clearly, loving you wasn’t that smart
(Now I'm) picking up the pieces of my heart

I can see it clearly, loving you wasn’t that smart
Now I’m, picking up the pieces of my heart
I can see it clearly, loving you wasn’t that smart
Now I’m picking up the pieces of my heart
