Life Lessons From 'The Notebook'

Try not to be too shy to tell someone how you really feel,
      be adventurous and always try new things even if it’s scary-
Take advantage of the beautiful moments, they can heal,
         you may never know how someone can be so caring.
Take chances on love, be courageous and daring.

        Compromise is important but don’t change who you are,
for small romantic gestures can go a very long way-
  Don’t be afraid to enjoy special moments under the stars,
sometimes a touch means more than words can say.
          Awake every morning as if it was a fresh new day.

Life is just a series of moments strung together,
            there may be arguments, but forgiveness can bring grace-
Sometimes in the beginning you just know love’s forever,
   you can tell just by the look upon your beloved’s face.
Make sure your sense of humor you never erase.

        Your heart may not always care about being logical,
for the heart wants what it wants even if it’s unlikely-
   Living a long life with someone can be quite magical,
there’s nothing like starting a loving family.
          Allie and Noah Jr. died together in heavenly harmony.

Before You Say You Love Her

Before you say you love her
Have a drink with her first
Wait until she becomes intoxicated
Not to take advantage of her but notice the way she acts when she's drunk,
Inebriated giggles and unwomanly speech with all sorts of curses
Would you still love her?

Before you say you love her
Take a shower with her first
Wait until all the traces of make-up disappears
As soon as the eyebrow powder, foundation and lipstick fades
Look at her bare face.
Would you still love her?

Before you say you love her
You have to undress her first,
Wait until she is completely naked
Not to make love to her but stare at her imperfect physique
Look closely at her scars and those tiger-like stretch marks.
Would u still love her?

Before you say you love her
Sleep beside her and spend the night with her first
Listen to her loud snores and notice her annoying gestures
Wait until she wakes up in the morning
Look at her uneven-toned, oily and acne-filled face.
Would u still love her?

Before you say you love her
Have late night conversations with her first,
Wait until she tells you all her secrets
Notice all her failures, insecurities and trust issues- all her flaws
Are you still willing to accept every inch of her?
Would you still love her?

The Tease

Leave trails of light for me to follow
Through your dark, elusive game.
Let them flicker past the hollows
Like aurora's harmless flames.
Take advantage of my blindness,
Lead me to that empty room.
Don that mask of chiselled kindness,
Let the growing blaze consume
Every thought I've ever pondered,
Every hope I've entertained.
And don't you dare neglect to squander
Every virtue I've maintained.
Splash fragrant fuel against the walls,
Let it spill across the floor.
Light the match before it falls.
Don't forget to shut the door.

Premium Member Next Christmas It Will Be So So Different

Another Christmas day is finally here
The very thought fills me with such fear
I have to try and control my old Aunty Mable
Once she hits the gin she gets very unstable

Uncle Arthur rushes in and opens the sherry
then sups half the bottle and gets really merry
He begins to sing carols at the top of his voice
I put up with the din… I don’t have much choice!

The last to arrive are old Gladys and Bert
Bert always wears his distasteful Santa shirt
Gladys walks through the door and starts to moan
I wish Bert would leave the old cow at home!

She whines from the moment she removes her coat
And heads for the sofa and grabs the remote
Demanding she has her dinner on her knee -
There’s some crap on the TV that she wants to see

I politely tell Gladys the dinner table is set
And the film will be repeated of that you can bet
So she sits at the table and picks at her starter
then moans very loudly to poor Uncle Arthur

The table’s soon laden with wonderful food
But Gladys is seething, she’s so blinking rude
She says the turkey’s tasteless and it's bone dry
So I pass her the gravy and I try not to cry

Bert finishes the bowl of chestnuts and sprouts
He’ll be passing foul wind in copious amounts
After rich figgy pud he crams in six mince pies …
It’s no wonder he’s gross with huge wobbly thighs

They descend on me each and every year
And eat all my food my wine and my beer
Then we open the gifts that lie under the tree
As per usual they bring just one present for me

Gladys has knitted me a horrendous jumper
it's two sizes too large, I just want to thump her
I dutifully put in on and I feign my delight …
but it will be in the rubbish bin later tonight!

At three we watch The Queen on the telly
Bert’s farting begins; the room gets so smelly
Within minute’s they’re snoring away in their chair
I retreat to the kitchen and silently swear

By the time they wake up all the dishes are done
The doorbell rings; thank god their taxi has come!
This is the LAST time they'll take advantage of me …
Cos I've booked a yule cruise on the Caribbean sea!

Get ready cause here is the next pontification
In regards to my said, beloved’s infatuation
Hear me thee, here do be, the truth of the situation
Which once was the source of said aggravation
After having arrived at many carnal rotations
Yet to me this was more than just merely fornication
Unless it is just about you and your manipulation
Telling me that there was never a foundation
That it was all about the sexual sensation
Confusing are your words in there translation
 They were your words of emotional declaration
Saying, that they are your truthful and honest proclamation
That we were was then had been your chosen words of articulation
Did they not bare as authentic in authentication?
Yet, I would never take advantage of your inebriation
You had already been thru enough of that brutalization
Though we both do know, we do have difficulty in communication
Though to me, it is just temporary blocks of frequency channelization
Amplified by the vodka laced with fruit juice for your gestation
This does be the biggest and truest reason for our causation
And the reason being for my excommunication?
If this does draw me as the fool in this poetic explanation
Then paint me as the man who holds much inner vexation
As we come here now to this thee summation
Because I still feel this be your true vibration
You are truly good enough and worthy enough for a higher lofty elevation

The Donald supporters were pissed
But Dorian Gray they have kissed!
Measured in fathoms
Their brains’ empty chasms
All hail the chief narcissist

Author's Note: Sunshine Smile's recent post, "Showtime," inspired me to write this. Her poem really speaks to me.

"The Picture of Dorian Gray" is a philosophical novel by Oscar Wilde, first published complete in the July 1890 issue of Lippincott's Monthly Magazine as described in Wikipedia. I urge those who are unfamiliar with the story to check out the plot.

I do understand people's anger. It's unfortunate the rest of us didn't do more to retrain and help the folks between the coasts--like the former coal miners. I really liked Bernie Sanders. Hillary was more a representation of the status quo. I think she lost the election when she called Donald supporters, "deplorables." She didn't get it.

"Make America Great Again," is doublespeak for, "Take advantage of the downtrodden and poor." We all share the same planet and its resources. There will be blowback from what we are doing in this country. No wall or immigration ban will keep us safe from ourselves and what we represent. We have not yet embraced sustainability, and I sincerely doubt the richest cabinet in history will have an intent to help miners. Mine owners are the ones they want to help. Stay tuned world. It is "showtime."

They will take advantage of your calmness,
They will destroy you till you become helpless,
They act like they care, which is rare,
They walk away from you, yet return to extort from you,
They never help in your assignment, but are ever ready for assessment,
They make us feel pain, when all our deeds of work are in vain,

Why do we pay for every indulgence, when the day is full of bad influence,
Struggling to make things possible, just to see them make things impossible,
So sad how you down line yourself all in the name of working and wondering around like a Roach
And all they know is mocking pondering on the outline of your sorrow .

When you walk confidently and talk swiftly, you are more successful, than running courageously confused,
Our hearts were never made for misery, our lives were made for victory.
Life is like a dove, beautifully made with love.
Learn from everyone but follow no one.

Premium Member Free Coffee

To celebrate a fiftieth anniversary,
a convenience store is dispensing coffee.
The best thing about it is that it’s free.
It’s hot, fresh, and with a flavor variety.
Twelve ounce small cups are available all day.
I got mine this morning right away.
It was just what I needed to get going today.
You have to live in a Mid-Atlantic state
to take advantage of this offer that is great.
Of all the different convenience stores in America,
the one with this terrific offer is called “Wawa”.

THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ will come again
If you believe this in your heart, and live it, say Amen
But if you scoff and say to others, that you don't believe
There will come a time when nothing can relieve

The fear that engulfs you when Jesus says to you
"Depart from me, I never knew you"
There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth that day
When scoffers and unbelievers hear Him say

Separate the wicked from among the just
And do unto them what you must
 Then you'll be cast into a lake of fire
With flames that soar higher and higher

But if you believe what the Scriptures say
Then it won't have to be that way
These words He'll say to you my son
 "Enter into my Father's rest. Well done"

So hear these heart felt words I speak
Don't wait another day or week
You may not have that much time left
Before you meet the Angel of Death

So I beseech you while you still can
Take advantage of God's great plan
Then you will know beyond any doubt
That eternity in hell has been ruled out

Unexpected Angel

Many tears have been shed for what no longer is.
The heart that lost all hope was left for the scavengers…
Scavengers that would physically take advantage of him,
But with his verbal consent.

His heart was dying… with nobody to heal it.
Many women had the chance to have him,
But something would keep him away from the true threats.
Some may say fate, while others would say God… But I say thank you.

Thank you for saving me from countless destructive paths.
Thank you for keeping me slightly sane.
Thank you for giving me exactly what I needed.
Thank you for showing her to me.

Her name eluded me for a time period,
But now rings out like that of an angel’s.
She came and put her arm around me…
Wiped my face clean of tears.

She gives me love like no other,
Even though I don’t see why.
She makes me believe her heart is mine,
While in reality, my heart is hers.

She will never admit what she truly deserves,
Only desire the happiness for whom she loves.
Always ready to sacrifice her heart for his…
While all he wants is her heart.

The passage of time makes their future uncertain.
Will they be walking down an isle together
Or just in a park as friends?
Will they share a bed in love or in playful fun?

None of this is yet known…
Both have their desires, hopes and dreams
But with all of this, one thing is certain.
Teddie, I love you always and forever you will be with me.

Premium Member Good Luck Being Stuck

Well, here we are stuck at home 'cos everything's closed
   So, we could do what we usually do and self-isolate
I mean, each of us could retreat into his room, shut the door,
   and do what we normally do in there on the internet or whatever

Or, we could say to each other, "Hey, this is a real opportunity, guys!
   Like, here we are together in the middle of the day for a change!!
Why not take advantage of this moment in time -- Who knows how
   long it will actually last -- and do some fun stuff together as a family?!"

Like what?
  Like what?
    Like what?
      Like what?

(My heart sinks a little as the question echoes through the house, but...)
   Well, why don't we have a hootenanny and sing our favorite songs?
(Dead silence). Uh-huh, I see. Or, we could play charades, you know
   (Eyes roll). OK. Don't all jump at once. How about a board game?...

You guys!! If you're not up for fun, let's at least have dinner together --
   You say that you're vegan now...And that you've just now stuffed yourself...
Uh-huh... So, as I was saying, I just can't wait till this scare is over, and
   we can all go back to our normal routines!

Get a Job - Soapbox Poetry

Get a job! (Soapbox Poetry)

Reaching your hand in another man’s pocket
Taking your fill, still you’re screaming for more
Limits are reached due to faults in the system
What do our children have waiting in store?

~~~
Why should I work when you owe me a living?
I cast my vote so you’ll pay in my name
Making excuses, yes that’s what I’m good at
It’s never me, someone else is to blame
Can’t take that job, for it’s too far beneath me
Flipping those burgers will send me to drink
I’ll sit at home watching reruns of Dallas
Lost in the sofa and close to the brink
She lives next door and she’s up every morning
Riding the bus so she can get ahead
Feeding her children and wants no assistance
It’s so much easier staying in bed
He walks to work, seven miles down the highway
That is so dumb and why can’t he see
Just a short stroll down the way to the mailbox
All that you need will be given for free
Look at the news, the work force is tanking
Why even try when they hand me the cash
Maybe some food and a six-pack of Miller
Leaving enough for my getting high stash
~~~

It is so sad the state of our nation
Laziness now is a medal to wear
Please bear in mind this is just my opinion
Just a few thoughts that I wanted to share

Ok, I know I will get some flack for this and yes, many, many do need assistance because of health problems, disabilities, etc. I have no problem with that, but just as many take advantage of the system, making it tough for those who truly need it. I work hard for a living and I know there are jobs out there if people want to do them. Maybe they aren’t glamorous or what some saw themselves doing, but they are out there.

Girls Heart

you never understand
what feelings a girl may have inside
what love may flourish
like flowers in a garden
or perish like roses
in a desert, desolate and dry
for one to truly understand
they must be one, hence
the feeling of misfortune
which flows so frequently
through the young womans soul
you may tease, you may jest
you may coo, you may swoon
but forever her feelings may always be the same
you may take advantage of her kind nature
and use her
she is not foolish, she understands
she may say stop and that that was uncalled for
but the fact that she stays
and does not run off
that shows that yes,
indeed that was very much called for

Premium Member I'm An Acquired Taste

I sit on the fence
Would like to be eccentric
But don’t quite pull it off
I still cater to way too many people
Yet I’ll never become their puppet

So beware to those who
Try to pull their stunts
I don’t handle well
Being manipulated
Though I’ll applaud it
If well done

I no longer have it in me to be
That lovely little cheerful girl
The naïve type I used to be
Especially when dealing
With people who’ve been known
To try to take advantage of me
I can move on but can’t forget
I’m OK with being an acquired taste

Daily Illusions

Living in a false vision,while creating illusions of bad decisions.In my past when my footsteps became ashes,I was stealing for others who really need it.I position myself in danger countless times for strangers with smiling faces who take advantage of kindness,weakness,and talents.But now that Im polished in my craft,Im well balanced surrounded with solid knowledge and display my wisdom that pays attention and listen before I solved them.With tunnel vision deciphering through the rumble and rewritten for those who gets misguided.Cause in my experience language is the true connection of us breathing,while others sleep and dream about living,manuevering through life in a empty body suit in flesh,that dont bleed or shed.Barricaded themselves in there own prison,even there reflection denies its own visit.Its ashamed many dont realize in life we have options to disengage derange or grab on tight to what feels right.I tend to go down memory lane,visualize those precious moments in the past,were all lies,giggles and laughs.But now that I found God,I disgarded my mask,to show my true demeanor and pave my positive mission everlast.
