Life With Trump Xvii

The Donald supporters were pissed
But Dorian Gray they have kissed!
Measured in fathoms
Their brains’ empty chasms
All hail the chief narcissist

Author's Note: Sunshine Smile's recent post, "Showtime," inspired me to write this. Her poem really speaks to me.

"The Picture of Dorian Gray" is a philosophical novel by Oscar Wilde, first published complete in the July 1890 issue of Lippincott's Monthly Magazine as described in Wikipedia. I urge those who are unfamiliar with the story to check out the plot.

I do understand people's anger. It's unfortunate the rest of us didn't do more to retrain and help the folks between the coasts--like the former coal miners. I really liked Bernie Sanders. Hillary was more a representation of the status quo. I think she lost the election when she called Donald supporters, "deplorables." She didn't get it.

"Make America Great Again," is doublespeak for, "Take advantage of the downtrodden and poor." We all share the same planet and its resources. There will be blowback from what we are doing in this country. No wall or immigration ban will keep us safe from ourselves and what we represent. We have not yet embraced sustainability, and I sincerely doubt the richest cabinet in history will have an intent to help miners. Mine owners are the ones they want to help. Stay tuned world. It is "showtime."

It's true but god help us all! You are one great talent. We have some beautiful trees here. I have a copper beech tree in my back yard that is 100 years old. It hasn't opened yet.

There is something to be said for that if we can survive. He is such a shallow individual. He has no idea what he is doing, and is truly delusional. However, a lot of money can be made when one is willing to ignore destruction.

My pleasure. "Showtime" is exactly what this is, and you inspired me. It is getting a bit worse, and it hasn't even been a month. Putting a brand on things should not be our goal. A camper is told to leave things the way you found them. I agree with that. So, we should enjoy ourselves and take pleasure in our ability to ridicule this rotten tomato--wait a rotten tomato has much more to offer.

This is not the only time in history something like this has happened. If only we could learn from some of the misfortunes that have befallen our brothers and sisters. But, that seems impossible. You are a saint for checking all these. Thanks again.

Maureen, my sincere pleasure is to share my displeasure with our state of affairs. It's really child's play that we don't seem to understand. I find it all so strange. It's as if we are in a nation of zombies--the emotionally blind Trump supporters. The sad thing is that it will cause so much pain and already has hurt so many innocent people. You are a very talented poet. Thank-you so much for visiting. I look forward to reading your work.
