Best Spike Poems
Jackson the Pug and a Squirrel named Spike
went trick or treating on Halloween,
when the came to the old house on Mortimer street
and they swore they had heard a scream,
That vacant old house, for fifty some years
surrounded by mystery,
with an odd widows walk, and a Great Horned Owl
who was hooting in an old craggy tree,
Jackson looked over at Spike and said
" that old place doesn't scare me",
"it's just an old house, where nobody lives"
"really! how scarey can it be",
Up the old path, they walked on moss covered stone
it was like walking into a bog,
when all of a sudden, hundreds of eyes
glowing red, through a thickening fog,
The closer they got, to that old Haunted House
the more ominous was the sight,
on that old porch, Jackson reached for the door
when there came a most terrible fright,
The creaky front door, opened all by itself
an eerie voice, neither wanted to hear,
" step inside" said the voice, if both of you dare
and I'll show you the meaning of fear",
Jackson took Spike, by his little Squirrel paw
they stepped inside, and not all to smartly,
lights suddenly lit, came a raucous roar
they walked into a Halloween Party,
Everybody was there, all of their friends
it was such a fine sight to see,
Rowdy Raccoon, and Virginia the Mouse
Callie the Calf, look there's Buddy and Baily
The party went on for an hour or so
when they all had to quickly retreat,
the lights all went out, an apparition appeared
in the Haunted House on Mortimer Street.

Most games are well-grounded,
To earthen goals they can defeat.
While few rise above the horizon,
With constant volleys they can repeat.
The game elevates to new heights,
Gracefully reaching above it all.
As angelic figures fly beyond,
Earthbound shackles that seem small.
Although clear boundaries guide play,
There's no limit from what divides.
The mortal effort to touch the heavens,
Where the ethereal collides.

I feel like I have a spike
That's been driven into my head
If this pain doesn't end soon
I'm going to go home to bed
My concentration is poor
I can't hear a single thing
It began as a strumming
Now I'm really suffering
I tried to take an aspirin
In the hopes that it would work
Because when I'm not happy
I can turn into a jerk
Nothing seems to be working
My pain is escalating
It's hard to know what to do
The feeling is frustrating
I look into the mirror
Comb aside all of my hair
Much to my own amazement
There is a spike stuck in there
Dedicated to my friend Gary who suffers from constant migraines. Coincidently
he has a friend who literally had a spike shot into his head an survived.

An unconventional comedian
Indian born comic Spike Milligan
His dark humour in sketches
Had the people in stitches
Without doubt was a very funny man.
When his friend Harry Secombe passed away
Spikes quite darkish humour came into play
Said "Glad he went before me
He'd have sang out of pity "
At Spike's service they played one anyway .
Now peacefully in his grave he lies still
In a lonely church yard up on the hill
His dark humour won the day
When sadly he passed away
His headstone says , I told you I was ill...

They were made to kill one another
One couldn't love
One wouldn't love
He went away and so did his girl too
She had a guy that left her unknowing what she would do
He came back when his girl left him
She had many guys have her only then
They fought for a while
Though it took a mile
He had realized he loved her
She had realized of him nothing more
She thought, oh well there will be no harm
Until her friends found her sleeping with the enemies arm
She gave up on love at all
His world began to fall
She became a traitor to all of her friends
And began to meet him to all of her ends
She believed in him all she could
He loved her but didn't think she ever would
As the end came near
Everyone hated him besides her
Everyone became regretful because he had saved the world
That was the night of his death
That was the moment he took his last breath

Spike is my name as I stretch and yawn on this beautiful sunny morn
Poking my nose through leaves and debris I sniff the sweet Spring air
Inside my den I hibernate through winter’s cold away from harm
Kaleidoscopes of colour and warmth permeate my prickly skin
Enough of sleep I need to eat ~ hear my tum rumble as out I tumble

The Last Spike
Helios orb peers cautiously
with guarded optimism
through cracker-slatted clouds
as Thor's divine implement
shatters the morning stillness with the clap of a sonic boom
Mere mortals assigned Herculean tasks
trill a gospel cadence,
their labors heralded as glistening ribbons stretch yon and hither,
a tribute to their genius
and their genesis
Now, as the celestial cotillion materializes
in the ebony overhang
the spinning Mother bids 'Adieu'
as the last rough-hewn iron phallus
penetrates the porus creosote-drenched flesh
with a tempered satisfaction
known only to Gods.........
And those men who will be.

This man, his name was Spike
He wanted to ride a bike
But, he had no training wheels
It was like banana peels
Instead, he decided to hike

Epic
You have left me
to self-inflicted self-pity,
impasse of the atoms
cleaved asunder in the thalamus.
Seismic thermology, the scorch
of Tempus fever,
hacked clinic of the circuitry,
bypass of the thirsting valve.
To that which I aspire,
bitten copper of the stripping wire,
sick telegraph doves keel,
falling dead, snowdrops on asphalt.
You have left me
in this cage of dogs,
abandoned with the temporal spike
that spears and gores the
hounds of love to
bloodied, gestalt death...

Blank verse
Spite
I write
You don't
Bite
That's alright
Check
Out broken
Glass
I broke
Through
Gotta go
To bed
Head before
You sleep
You love me
Fight
And take
It all out
On you
Don't get mad
Don't feel bad
I'm not letting
You in that easily
Not so quick
So step back

Buddy the Dog and Baily the Cat,
walked down the street one day
when suddenly, in front of them they saw,
A Pug and a Squirrel, coming their way
Buddy the Dog looked at Baily the Cat,
and said" what do you make of that"?
"have you ever seen a Dog and a Squirrel"?
" it's not like a dog and a cat"!
Jackson the Pug, walked with Spike the Squirrel,
and they sang a merry song
as they rounded the corner, to their surprise,
to see what had come along
Jackson the Pug said to Spike the Squirrel,
" what do you think of that"?
" a dog and a squirrel is one thing"
" have you ever seen a dog with a cat"?
As the four came upon each other,
they wondered who'd speak first
when they came upon a puddle of water,
they all had a mighty thirst
Buddy and Baily arrived there first,
and they began to drink
Jackson and Spike, were soon to arrive,
It was Jackson, first to speak
He said" Hello my name's Jackson,"
" and this is my best friend Spike"
" we're both kind of thirsty,
we'd like to drink, if that's alright"
" Hello Jackson, my name's Buddy,
and Baily's, my best friend"
" Please, both of you , help yourselves,
there's more around the bend."
At the end of their conversation,
Buddy said" before you leave
Baily and I are having a party,
can you both come New Year's Eve"?
Jackson said" Can I bring Janis"?
Spike said " How about Virginia too"?
Buddy and Baily were filled with joy,
and said" bring both of them with you"
Now the four departed,
and went about their way
Buddy, Baily, Jackson and Spike,
all became, very good friends that day.
Boy these guys get around......Enjoy.....

CORONA'S AFOOT; GIVE TO THE POOR
Before Corona there were rich and poor,
Developed countries and developing ones,
Individuals knocking on fortune's door,
While others were her daughters and sons.
On arrival, Corona ransacked the space,
Shattering with baton in hand!
Every economy she would deface!
No language did she understand!
Wealthy countries were hardest hit,
While the most vulnerable better fared.
No nation had a cure in its kit
When this monster its ugly head reared!
Well to do airlines were brought down.
Millions of workers faced uncertain futures!
A new phenomenon called Lockdown
Fettered all key business ventures
Individuals with chests of cash,
And companies and governments alike,
Realised that this was a common lash
And extended a hand to thwart any spike.
To life came the words of a great teacher
Who used to say to the rich: "Give the poor",
And: "A foreigner can be your brother."
Corona brought his teachings to the fore!

Lagoon of thought is a high place
But its essence were thought at the base
Black spike in my soul is put in place
I wish to reverse its face
When I reverse its countenance
My spirit will shine with brilliance
The negativity will reverse into positivity of similar distance
The equations will find new clairvoyance
The continuity has its own coherence
And using it one can form his sentence
But using additional dimensions at base has its sequence
So in reverse fortune and realization of dreams glory would have sublime countenance

SPIKE
There is nothing to overcome the greatest spike
Sometimes we are just the simple dike
Is there anything they can change to dislike
Let's talk about the worst pike
