Premium Member Wisdom From Trees

Nestling in my realm, as you host a daydream,
Reveling in breeze of my splendor evergreen,
I welcome you to my domain of rhythmic trills
Where roam the blue jays, robins, and crossbills
Feeding on berries, frolicking with hatchlings,
Singing gaily, serenading benevolent sanctuary
Amid bears’ huff, growl, and foxes’ feral-howl
Sheltered amicably from dry heat and rainfall;

Where trees reduce pollution, boost air quality,
Emit oxygen you breathe, by photosynthesis,
Bear flowers, fruits, nurturing your well-being
Temper climate cheerily, swaying with winds,
Hold soil in place, reducing runoff to streams
Protecting elixir of life in rivers and tributaries;

While you find balance in sanctity and peace,
Enlightened by whispers rustling in harmony,
That warn of deforestation ruining ecosystem,
And callousness that torches wildlife and trees;

Yet, I rise from ashes sprouting earth’s tranquility
For I am the forest of goodwill and sublimity,
Adorning every season, standing for you firmly,
Hosting you as you rejoice in salutary daydream.

Premium Member Minus Identity Who I Am

Plagued by incandescent ferments I grapple zealously,
with tower blocks of titan topsoil myriads,
and melange of eccentric foibles,
considered by some to be a minus,
but without this composite what is my real nature?
reflection on a manifest mettlesome being,
leaden skewed traffic jam’s tailback of relative prospect,
normalcy a supernatural synonym,
apperception fringed by lambent twinkling,
that tantalising twirl of clustered countless spirits,
quirk-some inklings seem a weakness,
whilst chasing galaxy of plus point,
self-ostracised by atypical apparently conflicting plethora,
grave as in shadow id, tombstone stark exit but salutary motto,
etched eerily by one staunch depiction,
on catalytic other form of self,
unresolved human traits in multiples,
indicative of lack, lack of bearing?
me that nutrient rich plot that has,
this wondrous green blade potential compass,
me as sumptuous summer gust freshener,
of inner coastal home philosopher’s dwelling,
me an endless random version,
of charcoal midnight gleeful ghost,
blithely skimming chimney tops on deep quest,
yet nascent dawn usher lurks within,
augurs well for that sound ultimate coexistence,
despite an underbelly of niggling doubt

Hopefully I’m kind
at heart but rare traits might just
scupper thoughtful aim

Premium Member Marching Band

"Marching Band"
Dapper dilettantes take over one hundred yards
Showing their feathers like a cockatoo on pointy shakos
Displaying their talents on grass they are anything but green

Ready to give resplendent resonance through beasts of golden brass
Popping percussive drumming getting drilled into them by a sergeant
Time and time again by so many rehearsals they know formations by heart
The time for sweat and tears is over, they are here to perform

Atten hut!

Impressing the crowd with baton twirling
Majorettes turn into marionettes as the sergeant pulls their strings
Compact formation now, the crowd will wait for hot dogs
Watching a half time special while they stand alert in place

About face!

Witnessing scintillating choreography with a one, two turn
The symbols get their chance to be rim shot participators
And the Grand Marshall leads the baton twirlers aside
For the color guard and their blinding high definition radiance

No one is out of phase and the scene is picture perfect
Then they dive into the scatter drill
Show their true talents with life, love and liberty to move where they want
Individual inspiration takes over each one to the ensemble
This is the real reason they are here, for happiness

They make way for the gymnasts while maintaining play
Who express their own interest in the spectacle of somatic arts
Triangles and fantastic figures on three people straddled high
Build in the crowd a new love for geometry

They have to give way though in good measure
To guns of glory and so many shots sent high in the air
Puffs of smoke are burst sky high, evaporating a salutary good bye
Thanks for watching

Premium Member A Shining Afterglow

A Shining Afterglow

we have rambled together
        along the Ganges river
	just you and me
	gazing at each other
we have trodden together
       	the streets of Bombay
	through narrow
         tortuous lanes
        goading each other
we have sauntered together
	along the Delhi boulevard
	eyeing each other
         and some of the wonders
         of the world
we have ambled together
	along the snow-capped hills
	of Kashmir hand in hand
	skating down the snowy slopes
we have ascended together
	the steep Tripura hills
	laid with thorns
	pulling up each other
we have braved together
	the desert of Arabia
	strolling side by side
	under the torrid sky
till our throat had run dry
we have explored together
	the Kenyan reserve forest
	with its wild fauna
	breezing together
with our lips fondling each other
we have roamed together
	in British public parks
        meandering amidst marvellous
	alleys of red roses
	vying with envy
        at cherry blossoms
	and inhaled their intoxicating scent
we have swum together
	in the cerulean waters
	of the Mauritian shores
 	with the setting sun
	reflecting its pink afterglow
        on the leisurely undulating waves
where we lay in close embrace
        atop ivory sands.

we have for so long
      	   shared the same roof
		during the summer
                       of love and care
                       when the salutary
                       shine of the salubrious sun
		        illumined our lives
               during the winter
 			of dark despair
			when woeful wild winds
			threatened to blow down
			the façade of our home
we have for so long
	   been duty-bound
      		  caring for each other
			since the break of day
during the sweet glow of the day
			at the dim twilight hours
			during the darkness of night
we have for so long
           seamlessly shared
		our joys and sorrows
		our fears and hopes
		our pains and pleasures
		our daydreams and nightmares

now that the autumn of our life
	life Is at close
		let the afterglow
of our love linger on and on
shining until will last our breath.

Ode To Morning Coffee

The alarm hits me over the head like a rock
Extra scoop of exhaustion, work-related
Timer says it’s Cranky-Past-Grump O’clock
But fear not, the remedy has percolated

The mind is so thick, chunky, and addled
My thoughts are completely jumbled
The dim world seems so utterly scrambled
Not quite sure what the mouth just mumbled

The glass carafe is impatiently steaming
Very soon there will be no more drooping
In a relative way, I’ll be quite beaming
And shortly thereafter, I know I’ll be…whooping

The heart pumps with the steaming mug
For so many ailments it fills the need
Mind verily hopping on this legal drug
Not sure why anyone bothers with speed

Then a brief time later, the predictable scare
To the throne room, I take hasty flight
Slamming the door to avoid the brown bear
With comforting knowledge I’ll re-emerge light

O! Coffee! Your pleasures not limited to the palate
Nor the great, salutary jolt to the mind
That gentle whack on the head with a mallet
And the large intestine not far behind

While I thrive on that mental clarity,
Look forward to that sublime daily lift
It’s that reassuring sense of regularity
That is the hallowed bean’s greatest gift!

Premium Member My Wife's Fourth Anniversary

From the brow of the hill
I could clearly see the panorama
Beneath me. Worried I saw
From afar a dark man,
Scythe in hand reaping…..God knew what.
In far off fields full of tall grass.
It was not the man who interested me.
It was my wife, a marriage of forty-seven years.
I saw her hobbling down an uneven path,
Her body bloated with disease.
She never looked back.
Strange I thought,
There were no birds around.
Only profound silence.
Arriving at a crossroad,
Without hesitation
She took the right narrow trail.

My heart thundered in pain.
I knew what was in her mind.
Incautiously she arrived at a bridge.
Thick fog covered the other side
An extension that led to unknown worlds.
Head straight but body limping
She dragged herself over.

Helpless I looked on till she disappeared.
Disconsolate I sat down on a stone.
She had suffered enough. She will now rest forever.
But I? Will I find some salutary rest?
I felt the pain of separation.
From afar a bell chimed an Ave Maria dirge.

Rulers and Looters

I was told in the beginning
That a wish may not well be unicorn
    With two winged thrust-thronged
    To soar upon the cumulus,
And for those who are wishing
Wishes to fall on their laps
  Were wholly rendered redundant,
  Those who want to attain,
  Tainted and tarnished past attainment
  Forgetting forward fortune
  And glory in goods temporary.
  Now those who dole out mischief;
  Sowing the seed of acrimony
  Rotten in corruptible credo
  Reshuffling reservoir of redundancy
To establish the roots of inertia,
  Of Demo-CRAZY
  Of masq-UERADES
  Of lob-BEASTS
  Of cons-titu-PATION
  Of elders
  Of fools
  Of economy
  Of pain
  Of nemesis
  Of crying jags
And hopelessness, deep furrows on wanton minds
  Remembering the deceit of denigration
That brought doomed to deserving daddies
That it is always a surprise,
  Unwilling stallion in the midst
  Of same blind, semblance sahibs,
A remembrance of the past remembrance
Raising the boys to take the Salutary gauntlet
  of the favour done
  To pave the way
For stock taking and a quiet get out,
Of the unending, pass measure euphoria,
Then it fell on the laps
  Of a fiery warrior; then
  The dance of the macabre
  And a sycophantic applause,
  Mutatis mutandis, endless queues
  Of rebounding stomachs
  Roaming, rounder the ruins
  Recounting remnant reservoir
  Denouncing, declaring deceiving
All one enmeshed in the same pot
For the final stir of the arbiter.

Premium Member Nature's Sanctuary

Outside, being outside, I thrill in nature’s seminary.
All lives sincere within earth’s sweet, sylvan sanctuary.
Trees never lied to hide their ancient commentary
or nature bid to conceal its ways often arbitrary.
As a golden, soft, internal peace dispensary,
nature does reveal mysterious ways unwary
of gifting precious tranquility I find necessary.

Alive, being alive, I soar when I may tarry
with nature’s simple, honest need, and frolic merry.
Abundant joy I do derive breathing solitary
while nature comforts me in her own monastery.
From ocean shore to ocean shore, mountain to prairie,
earth elements venerable release is salutary
for human grief to fly away in nature’s aviary.

Premium Member Memories of Egypt

I miss her, Mother Egypt
and those friends I left behind,
timeless history, marvels and mysteries
etched in stone by her own scribes.

Longing for the waters of the nourishing
River Nile and surrounding seas,
the laughter and smiles of everyone
who once loved and greeted me.

Near the shores of Alexandria,
Abu Qir and Fort Qaitbey,
Where Cleopatra's palace once stood
in somber ruins, she now lays.

Near Pompei's Pillar and Roman remains
of columns and fortress walls,
white marble statues and museums filled
with antiquities large and small.

The sights and sounds in every town
Of a marketplace lost in time,
Selling goods from almonds to wildwood
And candles to clocks that chime.

In the land of the Eye of Horus,
the son of Osiris the King,
and Isis, Queen Precursor
to Mary, Mother of God, Creator of everything.

Cradle of Christianity and home to
Pagan, Gnostic, Muslim, Jew, sanctuary
where the Holy Family fled from evil
to a warm and welcomed refuge.

Where the mighty Sphinx and Pyramids
stand silent, proud, and tall,
in the salutary sands of time
with eyes peering down upon us all.

Temples of Luxor, Abu Simbel
and Colossi of Memnon,
Valleys of the Kings, Queens and Hatshepsut
awakened, alive again each dawn.

Mummification, adulation
of life and death and stars,
Constellations, incantations
and the wonders of who we are.

Battle tested, rarely rested
waiting for the next invasion,
of Persians, Greeks, Romans and those who seek
your immeasurable treasures unabated.

The ebb and flow of come and go
throughout your long, hard years
of growing seasons, rhythms and reasons
to keep fighting back the tears.

Yet never waned while fighting flames
of one invasion to the next,
while still your people smile and sing
with a yoke upon their neck.

In a land that never loses the allure or
enigma of mankind's birth,
where magic and myth still hold their grip
on whatever we think life’s worth.

Mother Egypt, truth be told, I miss you more than all your gold
and antiquities that survive,
where I once sipped cappuccino
watching history passing by.

On Thanksgiving Day

It’s another red-letter day
a holiday in the U.S.
a national, religious holiday
known also as a ‘Turkey Day’
a very important day.

A chance to be reconnected,
a moment of being together,
a salutary occasion for gratitude,
full with family folderol.

There are historic reasons
this American celebration
has its origin centuries ago;
as the Pilgrims did it and -
invited neighboring Indian tribes.

To hold it with a feast –
A celebration for God’s blessing.
giving thanks for a common purpose,
freedom, justice, and worship in God.
Through Sarah Josepha Hale
this event has become a tradition
a realization that came to fulfillment
marked with significance, thus far.

With church services elsewhere
wth family reunions all over
with customary turkey dinner
oh, a reminder of the historic past:
at the Pilgrims’ big celebration.

In many homes and families
Table fellowships spice up the day
with turkey, mashed potatoes,
cranberry sauce, maize, pumpkin pie
and other vegetables and desserts.
a complete picture of this great tradition.
