You are the longest true love of my life.
You always gave selfless love even through strife.

Somewhere along the way we lost it
and I cry wondering if I could have stopped it.

Just my hindsight saw it all unfold.
For years now it has been more than my heart can hold.

Mentally, your voiced views battered me.
Emotionally, your behaviors shattered me.

We have completely turned from love’s way
so, I dwell sad in past days laid tainted and frayed.

Though no final death scythe ended us,
separation bereavement exists between us.

I search for moves holding love’s right stuff
‘cause I need to show you, Mama, I hurt enough.

Measure For Measure

Measure for measure, even more, but it was never enough
Still I look back with feelings of guilt even remorse
A sad end to our trip I never knew it would be so rough

I still think we always had what it takes, the right stuff
But we went our separate ways and have stayed the course
Measure for measure, even more, but it was never enough

I guess you never expected me to call your final bluff
I could not know you would react with such force
A sad end to our trip I never knew it would be so rough

I was destroyed a person always considering myself tough
A hard lived life taking me to new lows even a divorce
Measure for measure, even more, but it was never enough

We were left damaged my demeanor now always gruff
Not so easy to get back up when you fall of this horse
A sad end to our trip I never knew it would be so rough

Memories of the past often cause me to huff and puff
I look for someone to blame, but I am the only source
Measure for measure, even more, but it was never enough
A sad end to our trip I never knew it would be so rough

Premium Member Throttle Up, Challenger

Synchronicity woven by fate’s volatile hands
Gave rise to calamity in deceptive, calm skies
Creating tragedy so harsh that reason defies
Into a nation’s sad heart, a mortal arrow lands

"Hear ye, teachers," the benign invitation had been sent
Demonstrate the right stuff, be the first launched into space
Compete they did earnestly for this distinguished place
To young mother Christa McAuliffe, NASA gave consent

That same day Florida’s governor prepared to launch
His much anticipated U.S. Senate campaign
En route to his first stop in Jacksonville on a state plane
Bob Graham’s speech was well prepared for supporters staunch

From the air, Graham watched as a sudden flash appeared
Souls of seven astronauts dispatched to heaven’s gate
His campaign aborted as circumstance would dictate
And the hopes of a traumatized country disappeared

First teacher in space lost abruptly, never to return
Husband and daughter left behind, forever changed
Profound tributes to a beleaguered space program arranged
Perils of space travel countless mourners would discern

* Written February 1, 2019 for Emile Pinet's Enclosed Rhyme Contest.

* On January 28, 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded just seconds after launch from Cape Canaveral. Ironically, Florida Governor Graham, accompanied by members of the Capital Press Corps, did not understand what they had seen in the sky until after their plane landed in Jacksonville. The excitement of a campaign launch was quickly dispelled by the depth of the tragedy that claimed the lives of teacher Christa McAuliffe and six other astronauts. His campaign postponed, Graham returned to the state capital to observe a period of national mourning. The last words the astronauts heard from the control tower were, "Throttle Up, Challenger."

Lockdown Week Three

Three weeks into lockdown, we're still in one piece,
the house is now looking pristine,
we've dusted and shined every surface we see
now only the air left to clean.
We've searched every cranny, we've looked high and low
but still there's no sign of our Puss,
I think that last night she decided to go,
got fed up with being over-fussed.
The missus each day in her favourite pyjamas,
and slippers, just wanders about,
but when she turns round, well, it really alarms us,
there's a hole,and her bum's hanging out.
We've tried to eat healthily, bought the right stuff,
organic, and calorie free,
but now it's got boring, and I'm feeling rough
so it's baked beans on pizza for me.
A real ale delivery is next on the cards,
it's top of the list on our plans,
don't know where to put it, there's nowhere to go
since the larder is full of beer cans.
At least we're all civil, no rows or profanity,
for three weeks now we've all been stuck,
I'm off to the shops, now, quite proud of my sanity
with mask on, and dressed as a duck.

The Garbage Truck

As we stop, I pull out my jar of Vic's vapor rub
I put some up my nostrils, this job you cannot love
But it pays the bills, I make my living
Trash day is when people are most giving
They are selfless when getting rid of what they see as junk
Whew! That smell from the back of a garbage truck
I spot a pair of shoes for my kid
I will wash them first, get rid of the odor of rotted squid
My niece's birthday is coming up soon
I found a playhouse with dishes, forks, cups and spoons
It's family night tonight at home
The unknown video I found will be shown
Finding the right stuff is a matter of luck
It is just my point of view from the back of a garbage truck
I found a half a bucket of KFC
I take a smell, it smells as fresh as can be, what a surprise for my family
Two hours later, the family can't keep their meal down
They are so ungrateful about the food I found
I am on a strict budget, I have to find a way to save a couple bucks
More dinners will be found because I work on the back of a garbage truck

September is aging with a cool beauty
and the Missouri seems to be hurrying the expedition
into a world of natural splendor that is impatient to strip our spirit to it's bare light,
in my silent moments of strategy I feel the birth pangs of winter in the air
and know that an emergency of shelter will soon be the crucible,
more days than not the river wind has aided the Corps of Discovery's adventure,
rarely have we had to pull Destiny along by ropes
and today I'm off the boat, hunting a fleet and mammoth goat
the pronghorned antelope, unlike the buffalo and deer herds
that have easily been in excess of 500, these shy creatures
move about in small groups, seemingly familial in manner,
a hide of short, soft white and brown hair
which stripes the throat, and vicious charcoal horns
that could impale a man in a single jolt, none of us has ever seen such an animal,
these damn goats bolt like bullets every time I creep near
they must be catching my scent for I am stealth and camouflaged,
they are so agile and swift, unafraid to speed through the most dangerous ravines,
getting back to camp with no hooves to show for my time
I see that John Sheilds has sacked a peculiar hare,
he calls it a jackrabbit, it is a monster rabbit no doubt
20 pounds dead and can leap like a rock across water, 20 foot spreads at full speed,
we all laugh and agree this place is becoming more of a jungle than a prarie,
any moment we may encounter apes and wherewolves,
its good to see Private Shanon chuckle well since returning
from being alone along the river for sixteen days nearly starved and maddened,
the fires be hot and the kettles be kickin with the right stuff
most of us are consuming 5, 000 calories per day including several pounds of meat each,
the mission is teaching the men's' bodies new extremes, the exertion is remarkable,
sunburn, blisters, rolled ankles, sprained wrists and backs, inadequate sleep,
mosquito bites, spider bites, ant bites, hours of tedious paddling and foraging,
no woman love, gaurd duties, chores, the stress of Indian encounters and ambush,
home sickness,
the only thing familiar to us is eachother,
sharing our sufferings, sharing our survival,

Clinton on steroids—Fiornina
She shreds truth like a hyena
Let's make the world right
No—she’d much rather fight
As the killer in the arena

Can Hillary have the right stuff?
She couches words not a tight m*ff
If her clothes be stripped
See the mummy from the crypt
Quite rough to see her in the buff

For billionaires—Super PACS pander
Their “MO” is to ooze slander
So join with Bernie
Sanders' great journey
Since he's Mr. ethics and candor

Author's Note: There are two women running for the 2016 White House. I only wish that there was a more qualified woman running for whom I could vote--like Elizabeth Warren. This past Friday I went into Manhattan and saw Bernie Sanders speak. Recently, he spoke at Liberty University, and the event is searchable. BTW, I see Hillary and Carly as sisters in deceit. There is something very wrong with the body language, speech and ideas of each. They both are owned by big money. My apologies to the hard core supporters of these two beastly hypocrites.

Called, Chosen and Commissioned

It's no secret that good leadership is essential in life
For if you're not properly lead you may experience stress and strife
Good leaders are needed to show us how to do things right
Good leaders are prevalent in showing us God's light

A blind man named Bartimaeus was s beggar on the side of the road
He was in a precarious situation if the truth were to be told
He needed a way out of his dereliction
He needed a good leader to give him direction
And yet when I look our political situation these days
I see clowns who want to be leaders and I immediately start to pray

Not many are called, a few are chosen and less have been commissioned
But when a person has the right stuff he will have God's permission
Thank God for those seasons when good leaders manifest
Those who have been called to correct and address
To show us what's right and how to have a good attitude
To challenge us and help us develop the right aptitude
So that we are made ready to face controversy
And are better prepared to face the advesary
Good leaders are called to show us the true posture of God
And how to walk humbly and strive mercifully with love in our hearts

Good leaders are chosen to challenge the status quo
And show us how little we actually know
To remind us not to judge but just accept
For good leaders don't look down nor do they expect
Everyone to be perfect and in the right place
For good leaders are like the roadside church of Jesus offering mercy and grace

Now the roadside church of Jesus does not discriminate
The roadside church of Jesus does not segregate
It calls out to any and all who have a need or desire
As the roadside church of Jesus is godly inspired
There are no rules or regulations that may spiritually impede
The roadside church of Jesus is about serving one's needs

Good leaders are commissioned to help bring about change
Full of the Holy Spirit that has the power to rearrange
Any circumstances and all situations
Any problems and all complications
Good leaders are commissioned to comprehend and understand
What is required to be a godly woman or man
To let us know that a roadside mentality
Will not lead you towards prosperity
Good leaders are called, chosen and commissioned in life
To correct, challenge and change us to be like the roadside church of Christ

Dreams

Dreams are wishes you make,
And an idea that your brain bakes.
Little do you know, you can make it come true,
If the right stuff, you are willing to do.
If you want to be an athlete, your sport you must practice,
Or if you want to make a change, your measures might need to be drastic.
Maybe you want to be a famous chef,
Or maybe you want to have a boy named Jeff.
Whatever your dream is, make it come true
And then dream of bigger things that you want to do!

On the Catwalk

In numerous locales countrywide, they hold sway
Pirouetting at intervals like ballerinas from Bolshoi
Beauteous, feline and very feminine
Slender to the point of emaciation, not quite
Cultivating the undernourished look on a frugal diet
Decidedly austere for a longer tenure in the limelight
Basking in the fleeting warmth of an adulatory audience
A gathering of the doting kindred and the upwardly mobile
Some dirty old men on the sly, dirty young men too
Glued to their seats craning for a better view
By and large captive by choice, a handful perforce
Sitting through to pen their weekly column
Giving those they fancy their due in the sun
Witnesses to a parade of demure eyed lasses
And a few with flashy looks walking tall on stilettos
Essentially female and contoured though not prominently so
At least not to a marked degree, yet with excellent muscle tone

Opulence, no longer deemed a career necessity
Once considered right stuff, now rejected as wrong size
An hour-glass shape belonging to an age bygone
But hardly so, from the viewers’ mind, in retrospect
Enchanting and alluring yet not overtly titillating
Each in a state of dress and undress
Willing tools of designers flaunting their creations
Sporting dresses and hats and shoes, and lingerie too
In black or white and loud or subdued hues
Displaying formal wear, casual wear, swimsuits and sleep suits
Some scanty and figure hugging, others flowing and loose
A bony look required for some, others fulsome
A voyeur’s paradise, to be sure
Indulging a fetish without stooping too low
Chilly weather was never reason enough to cancel a show
Heat of arc-lamps taking care of goose pimples
Or brandy taken neat infusing the needed heat

Harbingers of tomorrow’s fashion and pall-bearers of today’s
The strobe lit platform of the pageant
Serving to launch new faces or is it legs?
The leggy look personified by Twiggy of yore
Carried through in the interim and sustained by the new genre
Captivating without doubt, and thorough professionals
Displaying unruffled demeanour and tutored bearing of thoroughbreds
Exuding confidence with every graceful step they take
Cool as ice despite the harsh glare of stage lights
And callous catcalls from boorish males
Performing in a backdrop of future fashion trends
Money and fame finding some, eluding others
Be it centre stage or in the shadows
It is bread on the catwalk for all

Bad Influence Am I

i am more than crazy
enough words can explain
i let myself break me
and there is nothing that i gain

it could be, that i didn't speak soon enough
either that, or i complained too much
i let the wrong things get to me
i didn't focus on the right stuff

i should have been more insightful
i should have been less spiteful
and cared more about the people around
i should have cared less about the things meant to bring me down

It's been a long journey here now the road gets rough
From the wildest dream to a wonderful realization
We finally have tested the waters is love now enough

From the very first days I knew you had the right stuff
Difficulties of lifestyle leads us ever into temptation
It's been a long journey here now the road gets rough

Constant fighting leads me to make a dangerous bluff
This cold icy road formed by many tears of trepidation
We finally have tested the waters is love now enough

We wear on each other and things really get tough
Our only communication now founded in frustration
It's been a long journey here now the road gets rough

Hope only comes now from the poison we huff or puff
We both want more but the unknown leads to hesitation
We finally have tested the waters is love now enough

Always a looming threat we will be taken by handcuff
This constantl stress leaves us cold losing sensation
It's been a long journey here now the road gets rough
We finally have tested the waters is love now enough

The snow folds like marshmallow fluff
We would call you soon

But you bet you had the right stuff

Premium Member Valentine Romance

Valentines day is always something special to me, I explained.
So I planned a romantic evening and got ready for my campaign.
The children were at a sleepover with their favorite friends they adore.
So I met my hubby as he came in, accidentally tripping and making him hit the door.
Thank God his head is hard as he hit that, the nearby TV, but very little more.
I made Cherries Jubilee as a snack while he sat there with an ice pack to his head.
But before I knew it, I’d knocked it over and almost burned down the house instead.
When he finally put the fire extinguisher away…
I got up and got some of the kids’ apple tarts I had made.
He bit in deep and burned his mouth, declaring he wasn’t hungry and the pain would fade.
Next he decided to go upstairs, but I had put rose petals down everywhere in spades.
And yes you probably guessed it… he slipped and ended up needing a little aide.
At this he decided to take an aspirin and lay down upon the couch. OH HHWell…
But I knew the rest needed to happen above, to totally create this romantic spell…
I had to get him to the candles and bubble bath, where my romantic dreams still dwelled.
So I got out some scarves and danced toward him, tying up his hands before he fell.
He never knew what hit him as he was lassoed and gently bounced up the stairs.
I guess I wouldn’t have had to tie his feet… a few words would have done as well.
But you know me when I get going, my mind tends to lose a few brain cells…
He was flustered, exhausted and bruised when he got there, but he’s made of the right stuff.
Though as I took off the scarves, he flopped on the bed pulling the covers over his head kind of rough.
He said he loved me, but living with me could be kind of tough.
He said it was better to leave it to him, for the romantic endeavors and such.
He said he had reservations and play tickets in his shirt pocket for later on that night.
But what he needed now was some aspirin and a few moments of quiet respite.
So with a sigh he started snoring, and my romantic dreams were momentarily crushed.
I dearly love the man you know. But, do you think maybe I tried too much?

Flaws Versus Flawless

Flawless
Photo shopping a model.
So her neck doesn't have a wattle.
She's perfect after this,
so her feet you will kiss.
Then return to your baby bottle.

Flaws
To the eyes I am a little rough.
In my stomach, I do have a fluff.
Wish you could see who I am.
Writing again my own slam.
For you, I see I wasn't the right stuff
