Premium Member Black Poetry Day

My black is majestic my black is smooth
Even when I was banished from public pool
Even if I was portrayed black face fool
I was a raven flying above you.

I am much more than kinky hair
Thick thighs brown eyes and ebony stare
I am the truth if you want or dare
Take my hand and I’ll take you there.

Black is deeper than had been enslaved
Nothing weaker than to steal me away
From my history where I am great
From times mystery of healing faith

October 17th we celebrate
All black poets on black poetry day
You don’t have to know it that you are a poem
written by spirit, fruit of the loin strong.

Most of us poets are not well known
In our hearts we find gem stone home
For literacy and for fuchsia full blown
Purple royal words we call our own.

The Thing In the Pool

I drown you in wine, the goddamn squatter
who lives in me. Flow, Lethe, dark and deep!
But even through a drunken dreamless sleep,
like a nude drowned man in see-through water,
the memory is seen… That very sunny
day on the river, tender girlish hands
doing my back with sunscreen, lots of plans
for future, reckless air, easy money,
the coolness of the depth… All of a sudden
a spasm! a cramp!
                            a zigzag
                                         lightning
                                                       pain!
that lit up something? someone? I would fain
forget but the remembrance, mixed with blood in
my veins, with coldest sweat in my nightmares,
stayed in for good… The rescue team did well:
I’m still alive but, tell me, why the hell
I often feel like going downstairs
to river beach, undressing, diving deeper
under the water and taking a breath?
The habitant inside of me shrugs: “Death
is quite familiar to every sleeper
and swimmer. Death is, so to speak, a river
which flows from the future to the past,
a metaphor of time. Don’t look aghast
at this phenomenon but you should quiver
in fear just thinking of the one you saw
down there, at the bottom of your soul.
Who could this be? Don’t look through the keyhole
of the imaginary but real door
between realities”…
                             Or I just think
he says it, and the truth is I did sink
long time ago.

Poet In a Pool of Love

Poet in a Pool of Love
...... For You Ajinle

A
jin
le

When my yearning becomes a letter
Of love inside the dust of time
This lyric will deliver my affection to you
Ajinle the precious daughter of Adegboye
For love is always love
For two dreaming hearts
When their hearts never departs each other
When the cloud of love erupt their minds.

Ajinle
Love is not for coward hearts
Love is not for fragile minds
When I thought how I love you in silence
My heart beat faster
My spirit linger through your undiscovers planet
I found myself in a pool of love

Ajinle
When my song becomes a melody of joy
It is because of you!
My poems are not for ragged - minds
But I will read dirge if you departs my life
Or, is their anything to compare with the absence of love?

A
jin
le,
Our love and present-shadow is a destiny of tomorrow
Though we are way-farers

By,
Ajeyemi Wasiu .A.
Note: Ajinle 'Yoruba linage for female'
Adegboye: 'Royal name belong to monarch family'

Ocean Versus Pool

The
days
are hot,
the water
cool, but unlike days
beside my pool, the ocean lives
a moving thing, with surf and sand it has its fling, and
far out past the eye can see, instead of woods, the sky meets sea…delightful choice for me!

Reflecting Pool

The stars have been ignited,
they've brought the night to life
they've sprinkled the pond with countless diamonds
with droplets they collide

I've knelt silent at the waters rim
and touched the reflecting pool
in one moment the image dissolved
my hot patience has been cooled.

Wavelets On the Pool

Tiny wavelets on the pool today, a gentle
breeze and raindrops fall with a rhythmic
pitter patter. The ducks and wildfowl pay
no heed, around the sedge bob and feed.
The Heron standing as if frozen, his
cunning eye a prey has chosen. And the
elegant Swan glides, the Cormorant
beneath the water slides. And the grey
clouds float on by on this quiet day at the
pool, the reeds sway and insects hide away,
dry wings are required to survive. The Otter
on its back dines on an unlucky Crayfish,
seems well at ease with his surrounds, and
the Water Vole enters a hole to the squeak
of hungry mouths. In the centre of the pool
a love dance, two Crested Grebes court,
ducking, bobbing, all magic to the eye. All
this beauty in the pitter patter, life goes on
it does not matter. Nature gives in many
ways, and as always this heart enslaves.

Premium Member Pocket Pool?

A political pundit with power
stuffed dollars in his purse by the hour.
When called to court,
he said “Why not, sport?”
My daughter’s in real need of a dower.

And, while running a nasty ad game
He cried out “Why I’m not to blame!”
He did it too,
So *crew to you!
And he rose up on a tide of acclaim?

Pool of Dreams

Look down into the black depths
What do you see
Your life unfolding before you
The impossibilities of reality
What could have been or what will be
Good things and bad
You see your dreams

Premium Member In a Pool of Kindred Spirits

What joy
What comfort
To find a comfy niche
Where kindred spirits abound
Where we are encouraged to be ourselves
And delight in others showing their true colors
How profound it is to connect on that human level
Sharing opportunities to appreciate each other’s journeys
With tendered words, views, passions, dreams and aspirations
Life obstacles and vulnerabilities divulged with open heart
Allowing others to touch us in so many ways
Inviting them into our private bubble
Where some so easily click
Like long lost friends
Forever leave
Their mark

To one such friend
I need pay tribute
He’s an artist on my path
No doubt to feed my motivation
He gives praise
Like it’s free candy
He’s a humble goodhearted poet
Direct and won't play games
He couldn't be a politician
It would surely kill him
All I have to say is how I have
Tremendous respect for him
And everything he stand for

And then it stopped.
The jagged edge of anxiety smoothed
by the fall in slow motion -
A tumble into a pool of tranquility.

Suddenly awakened from the angst
by the splash of a refreshing reality;
reminding me that I need to
swim in peace for a while.

The pool is deep and calming.
It soothes the rawness of disquiet
and the cruelty of dispassion which
has dominated my recent existence.

Resistance melting in the serenity of
the rippling water, I float,
perfectly at peace and calmed by
the composure of the landscape.

It has stopped ………
and I can breathe at last.

Premium Member Shootin' Pool On Cd

At the local bar one friday night, we were shootin' pool and getting tight,
Just havin' fun in the neon light, yea, everything was cool, out a sight!
Now I've played pool for years on end, my stick play is cool, sometimes I win,
With 2 balls down, I still played the same, I'd bought the last round and hadn't won a game,

Yea, this luck of mine sure seemed strange, Ol' Biggin' shot fine, as the eight ball remained,
As he walked to the table to shoot the eight ball, his win was probable, as he made his call:
"Eight ball in the side chump!!"...Ol' Biggin' did say,
While my throat became a lump, as he cued his play,

Then the shot went to pocket the eight, and I couldn't believe what I saw,
Ol' Biggin' blocked his scratch on the eight, yea, didn't let the cue ball fall,
So I told him: "That sure is Jive!" as he stood and stared at me,
His eyes looked like he was fried, and Ol' Biggin' stood 6 foot 3,

Then he called me a geek! so I called him a goon! and so to speak......a Big baboon!
When he called me a fool! I called him a twerp! and that snatched his cool! so he snatched
my shirt,
What happened next was my surprise! Ole Biggin' landed left, right between my eyes!
And I hit the floor so hard, no slack! Yea! Biggin' tore the shirt right off my back!

And I felt the swellin' layin' on the floor, with Ol' Biggin' yellin' and wantin' more!
So as I was getting up and could hardly see! I swung an upper cut, you know where that
might be?
Uh! Huh! you're right...but is it cruel? when he turned out my light and snatched my cool,
So should the moral of the story go like this?: "Don't play pool if it' pool like his" Or:
"If you play pool....It's just another game of: Don't snatch that, cool!"

Deep end diving; shallow end Fear.
Barbecue host and nobody near.
Crystal, shimmering; fish to eat. . .
