I Never Left You

I NEVER LEFT YOU

When youthful restless hearts hear defining calls
With volcanic strength they will respond
The impetus for adventure overrides
All rational thoughts, out of window they go
For youth knows no bounds of daring appeal

Twenty I was, when I heard the “buzz”,
With gusto and a lick of good sense I made the run
Carpe Diem was my exalted, exuberant cry
So I followed the path to places to me unknown
To her, I whispered with pain and sorrow
I must seek what the world to my lot bestowed
But be assured that one day for you I shall return
Feeling liberated and not knowing why
Effusive and with feigned bravery I bid to all farewell
The beyond had the smell of fragrant thrills
From America to America my journey began
Imbued with hope, dreams, and strong will
I began carving a new life, a new beginning
Dreams, goals ,and desires within me abounded
To fail was never a contemplated option
For failure the young bravely defies

All those memories of a half century ago
Come back to me in flares and bursts of fading energies
Now that I am approaching the sunset of my days
Wondering wastefully how it might have been
Had I not pursued the Echo of that life changing call
That outcome will never to me be known
But oh! How I long and yearn for that love I bid farewell
My ashes will one day fertilize a seed above that green hill
From that seed a tree will grow into a refuge
To shelter, in hot, sunny or stormy days, living fragile things
Then I shall sleep eternally in tranquil peace
Knowing that I kept, though belated to her my promise
And in serene harmony, proclaim, “I never left you my beloved Brazil”'.

Premium Member A World Without War

When Faith turns fanatic,
When the mind, like a sponge soaked in dogma,
When the lure of money overrides,
When reason is hoodwinked
With the promise of a Heaven in wait,

A terrorist is born!

He moves around armed with ammunition.
Joins other desperados with loaded guns and bombs.
Like horrendous beasts unleashed from the den
They lunge on a rampage, with threats at gunpoint.
In God's name violence is concocted
Spewing hatred, hostility, and horror

When interests clash, when the greed for power overrides
Between countries, tension builds.

In the war between Russia and Ukraine
In the turmoil between Jews and Palestinians
How many have died leaving their families wailing?

We are on the brink of an apocalypse.
Guns roar, bombs blast, causing,
Death, deformity, and destruction,
Mushroom clouds rise high.
Dark clouds hang on the horizon.
Frivolous ideologies kill the lives of innocents
Leading to distress and doom.

With the world turned into a battlefield
We need an escape from this inferno.

Combined efforts alone can subdue,
This formidable enemy of gigantic proportions.
United shall we stay to get all wrongs right,
And muster the strength to catch the bull by its horns,
To let the doves of peace take on wings,
And to build a world free of hostility and war!

Premium Member Jealous

It’s past midnight and sleep has walked out on me, yet, again.
I stand in the door way to the quiet patio, now bare ...
There’s a frost advisory tonight so precious plants are safely housed
As I stare into the vastness of navy skies, listening to the hush
It’s a beautiful autumn night, a bit chilly, but I really don’t mind
Some old song is being played softly on the radio..
And I smile faintly listening to the words
I turn it off, still sky gazing as my thoughts gather wings
Finally, I sigh and give in to the tugging desire of my heart
For it seems it will give me no respite...
I am wondering how you spent your day.
What delights did your eyes behold?
What beauty thrilled your heart and soul?
And did it bring you close to tears?
Soon, jealousy overrides my melancholy
However, it’s my decision not to resist; I welcome the injected pain
Somehow it makes me feel more alive as it drives the numbness away
I try to imagine the simple things you touch,
The people around you who breathe the air that you breathe,
Every cup of java which touch your lips...
Leaving playful kisses, instead of me,
I think of your smile so alluring which makes beautiful flowers blush...
Yes, and I am jealous. That I can not deny
AsI stand in the doorway, leading to my quiet patio
Washed in silvery moon light casting shadows on the wall
My heart fills with anxiety; shallow breaths barely escaping...
Solemnly, I lean against the patio door, so needing your embrace
And all I hear is your name whispered by the brisk autumn breeze!

Premium Member Common Sense

I'm concerned with the lack of common sense;
it's notably missing when needed most.
And while its absence comes at our expense,
nothing else can match it, not even close.

It once would mitigate anger, hate, and greed;
lately, however, it has been a no-show.
I pray for its return in thought and deed;
if it's still relevant, I'd like to know.

It could untangle impossible knots;
after all, common sense overrides lies.
But it's missing; try connecting the dots;
is that why anarchy is on the rise?

The Beautiful Island of Livius

What seemed an unrealistic painting has disappeared;
a sunset too beautiful to linger has gone to sleep.

Sadness is felt internally, amazement externally.

Use your imagination to reconstruct that blood-smeared sky;
you may perceive it differently from mine.

In each new season, it changes from azure to gray.

Livius, a small island, was once owned by the menacing Cyclopes;
whose greedy attitude the Sirens fiercely hated.

Too sorry for them who couldn't sing a merry note.

My determination to discover overrides a fright many cringed at;
I look beyond and all voices have ceased.

Something inversely imagined can become a real threat.

The limpid sea with shades of light green and medium blue glitters,
It's the same one that the Greeks beheld.

They settled here and started another Hellenic civilization.

The pungent smell of the lemons and oranges sweeten the salty breeze;
they are a testimony of a people tending their fertile land.

I am the observant of a scenery that others envy.

Senses

She pervades and unveils all that I have kept hidden for so long
I do not know her but I hear her voice in and around my mind
It is weightless and I know she wills it in sound with ease
She is harmony, a beauty I would be so favoured to find

The friendly nudge at my side when I need it most
I do not know her but I feel her on my skin magically without touch
She engenders love innocently in all she does
It is a glow around her that is infectious and unrivalled by much

Her soul is saved for me and her gaze meets mine softly as does the sun at dusk
I do not know her but I see her eyes piercing mine
Without force nor resistance there is a wild and untainted kinship forged
She is a reflection that light overrides darkness, a sign

Her essence is the burst of aromas that fill the air around me
I do not know her but I taste the very air she breathes so tangibly
It is crisp and light without a hint or trace of impurity
A fresh tonic to heal, to restore and to strengthen vigorously

As if I wonder and follow her, unaware yet willingly
I do not know her but I smell her presence in rooms she has visited
A remnant I could not mistake for any other if I tried
There is something to be said for peace so beautiful and unlimited

Have you ever tasted the air in such a way as to be swept away by it?
I dare to say I have and yet quietly here I sit
How strange are these things that unequivocally bind me to her?
I dare not think on it, for rationality will not explain what is and what will occur
In spite of total darkness between our paths and the questions I have
I sense I will know her because once paths cross, we will reach out half and half

FIRST DAY OF ARRIL

The ground still crunches ‘neath my step
Yet this mild sense of renewal

Eyes still overcast
    dirty snow
                   rotting leaves
that endless roof of gray clouds
Yet this mild sense of renewal

The calendar’s 24th day
strikes a Sunday short sleeve warmth
Easter!
Yet this lingering fact of winter

Discouraging
But the wide mild whiff
                                    thought of spring
                                          overrides EVERYTHING!
And I am born once again

Humble Beginnings

I got a keyboard...
...I hope I try at this.....
....that I try and I don't stop trying....
cause that's what I do.... I sample...
...never eating more than a few bites and stopping after a good taste...
....but now Im starving... Im ready for a meal....

I am master of nothing... nothing...

I give up early because its no joy to suck at things...
...humble beginnings lead my ego to generate pain....
...pain that comes from not being better at learning...
....you know, Im much worse at learning than I used to be....

it has me feeling less than..... creating dislike....
....and the dislike of this process develops a heavy resistance...
....which overrides the gift of patience for growth because of its intensity...
....and the whole deal becomes unattractive...
....then this fresh baby passion dies under the rath of uncomfortable emotions...

....and I move on to the next trade....
...with hopes that maybe the next time that it'll be different...

...its always been this way...

...it leaves me longing...to never keep trying means to never have...
...and I haven't had.... I haven't had for a very long time...

COPLA 106 RESOLUTION : This Bad Guy World

The still centre of independence
Is not inhabited by vacancy :
Inaction voids

Can Love alone ensure existence
In a void and make Bad Guys fancy
No harm overrides

Stand not alone unless you renounce
All the joys of life within your reach :
Dangers approach

Bad Guys derive pleasure from their stance
In damning Good Guys isolated each :
Then they encroach

Love Lust and a Broken Heart

Love Lust and
a broken heart

Robot feelings
and missing parts

rotten insides
and bloodstained art

we stand together but
we're worlds apart

Divided by the sun and moon
high on sadness
lost in gloom
toxic energy immune
baby growing in a poisoned womb
we play each other like a hollow tune
and feed on emptiness
with a silver spoon
hopes and dreams destroyed too soon

sticking needles in our arms
blood dances in the liquid harm
we shoot it up don't be alarmed
it's our secret lucky charm

succumb to pain
get lost within
to feel the numbness as we sin
broken auto-pilot grins
saliva dripping off our chins
fatal attraction to heroin
the highest low we've ever been
enslaved to the lifelong binge
a kiss from Jesus in a syringe

Love Lust and
a broken heart

robot feelings
with missing parts

an empty six
and dirty sheets
is where our twisted lust love creeps
we and fight
and lie and cheat
like a broken record on repeat
your love lust pain i can't release
drowning in confusion deep

blood dust and exhausted thoughts
forgotten nobodies left to rot
wasted days and washed out nights
the darkness overrides the light
he shoots the black
i shoot the white
perceptions twisted
blinded sight
but whose to say what's wrong or right ?

love lust and
a broken heart

robot feelings
missing parts

The Journey a Birthday Wish

Diamonds don’t glisten until they are put through the fire,
Making them precious commodities for the buyer
Butterflies don’t flutter through the air,
Until they breakthrough their fibrous tares
Life is a process just like the rest,
But after the trials we get Gods intended best.
Dreams seem to vanish into a summer breeze
But all dreams are born when we bow to our knees.
Surrender is simple when you have tried it all
I know of one who hears your every call.
There is nothing that he doesn’t already know
And he is not amused by our humanistic shows.
He simply accepts us for where ever we have been
And he is not sitting there counting our every sin
His love melts away the frozen rivers and valleys
He overrides are initial internal tallies
Waves of refreshing wash over our souls
Your best interest is his eternal goal
There is no place to run from his infinite eyes
And he is one being that will never tell us lies
The deepest of wounds fade away
When we allow Jesus to come into your day
So, whatever the hang-ups
Whatever the fears
Just know that there is one who sees your every tear
This birthday year
My hope for you my dear
Is to know eternal love
That is given from up above
I pray you lay it all down
And in return receive your glorious crown
For you are daughter of the creator
Despite all those cuts from those past traitors.
You were made for greatness, that’s why you are still here
I declare this is a turn around season, a brand new year
I pray Healing rains fall on your sweet face
And replace all the fears with his awesome Grace
I pray that peace will flood your soul
And that you will allow God to make you whole!
You’re a treasure that awaits a grand discovery
At the bottom of an ocean or even a sea
And once it comes to the surface you will drip with delight
Because joy comes in the morning after a long, daunting night!

Harmonious co-existence vexes as
Ugliness of spirit overrides all sense:
Man, woman, young, old - locked in constant conflict.
Antagonistic leanings destructive, but
Nations are split by doctrine more than terrain;
Isolated, insular and self-serving.
Tempestuous relationships reign supreme;
Yawning chasm between status quo and potence.

Halcyon adventures wait amongst the stars:
Unite, Peoples of Earth... and ascend as one.
Majesty of universe lies before us,
Architects, wholly, of our own destiny.
Negative acts consigned to history books;
Inherent self-destructive urges shunned by
Transcending schisms and grasping conjoined purpose.
Years uncounted may pass, but faith shall be pursed*.

Premium Member A Hurting Heart

Beggars seldom get to select their preferred meal,
accepting the lowly scraps fate's willing to give.
An empty stomach will dine whenever it can,
it's not particular about the source at hand.

A lonely heart doesn't question if love is real,
convinced lies are sparks; trust ignites passion's flame.
And hope overrides any perceived risk of pain,
a feeling so strong it compels dreamers to try.

Reality blurs within the make-believe world,
tears subdue silent screams, fueling nightmare dreams.
And easily blinded by love's exquisite light,
joy gives in to Doubt as relationships falter.

Overwhelmed by lies, suspicion unveils the truth,
immersed in self-pity, as your dreams fall apart.
A jilted heart bears countless scars of betrayal
inflicted by flattery, fake smiles, and sweet lies.

The illusion of happiness feeds frustration
as fledgling hearts pursue love's elusive embrace.
And yet, hope never abandons a hurting heart,
tethered to desire, dreams, and fantasy wishes.

Our conceit overrides our shame;
endangered species are dying.
And refusing to accept blame,
Man denies His lack of trying.

Vast migrating herds have been culled,
their deaths justified to make room.
And those numbers are unequaled,
due to the population boom.

Small countries with limited space;
burns forests so cattle can feed.
And spreading at a frantic pace;
enormous profits, finance greed.

Zoos are a fruitless endeavor;
yet it doesn't matter much, it seems.
For once lost, life's lost forever;
and Nature gets consigned to dreams.

With Man's use of the ax and gun;
Death is steadily encroaching.
And insane wars that can't be won
ensure His end's fast approaching.

Vowel- Consonant- Contest

Aboard the event train I watched over the undulating scenery ahead.
Whose eyes see into shadows ogling the unknown
What a basically exhilarating time indeed.

What other panorama undresses before admiring glances.
Evening skies in many orangey shades urges many admirers
Watching every hue interact with others made us very aware therefore,
every minute interaction could overflow senses

Unusually patient artists, wait excitedly for inspiration, no over worried urges,

Mountains alongside roll engagingly by in magnificence, only surprisingly usurped by
angry rivers each with instinct, rushing onwards gleamingly unspoilt, the awaiting sea empty, the incoming tide overrides the unsuspecting rivers as the eddys flow
incorporating ocean , rivers, united

Fields angrily shout every colour in the oscillating spectrum, urgently needing
attention, waiting easels placed in readiness, overtone to undertones
Pencils are flamboyantly enjoying the interesting light overtly sketching, unruffled
Watercolours are readily endorsing the intense flooding on the unadorned paper,
all mingling, each colour interacting with others there upon

This artist charity event contest, it will occur yearly. unknown charities,
annually benefitting, every painter indicated his offer to use
