When Faith turns fanatic, When the mind, like a sponge soaked in dogma, When the lure of money overrides, When reason is hoodwinked With the promise of a Heaven in wait, A terrorist is born! He moves around armed with ammunition. Joins other desperados with loaded guns and bombs. Like horrendous beasts unleashed from the den They lunge on a rampage, with threats at gunpoint. In God's name violence is concocted Spewing hatred, hostility, and horror When interests clash, when the greed for power overrides Between countries, tension builds. In the war between Russia and Ukraine In the turmoil between Jews and Palestinians How many have died leaving their families wailing? We are on the brink of an apocalypse. Guns roar, bombs blast, causing, Death, deformity, and destruction, Mushroom clouds rise high. Dark clouds hang on the horizon. Frivolous ideologies kill the lives of innocents Leading to distress and doom. With the world turned into a battlefield We need an escape from this inferno. Combined efforts alone can subdue, This formidable enemy of gigantic proportions. United shall we stay to get all wrongs right, And muster the strength to catch the bull by its horns, To let the doves of peace take on wings, And to build a world free of hostility and war! _________________________________________________

You know they used to call, Nelson Mandela terrorist, whist everyone thought Ghandi was a saint, but had a controversial side to him.. one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter.. the media will always manipulate things, do you ever hear about all the wars in Africa? I wonder why not.. however you wrote an excellent poem for the contest.. Best of luck dear..

A poem of altruistic goals and hopes of unity. It has many frames, each with much to ponder. Thank you for these thoughts.

Your poem expresses and examines the product of ill will, greed, vanity and the power of destruction and despair due to war! Yours is an important voice never be silent. I know that God will have the final say despite our behavior as humans towards each other ourselves and the earth!

May, God bless, comfort, guide and fill you with His peace, love, spirit and joy in abundance, they know not what spirit leads them are they would tremble in fear as satan, this hatred has to be seen from its source, not to be drawn in to have this hate within us, then satan wins, this whole system is set up for all to be divided ,only The Holy Spirit was prepared that we might return but world religion is out to destroy it as then in Jerusalem at Pentacost: (

If we get blown up for our foolish wicked governments, much love and prayers to you my sister in Christ, sad the people of the world learn of others through their government, for I have found I love people around the world by way of internet, the Holy Spirit flowing in people : )

Valsa, your exploration of the destructive consequences of fanaticism, greed, and power struggles, which result in violence, hostility, and war, can lead to terrorism, international conflicts, and the devastating impact of war on innocent lives. Your eloquent language and vivid imagery create a sense of urgency and despair. Through the use of poetic devices such as metaphor, simile, and alliteration, you effectively highlight the harmful effects of fanaticism and violence.

In the situation between Israel and Hamas, I understand the leader of Israel's stance that the enemy has to be destroyed, but I don't understand the method used to do it. I also know that a new generation is going to rise up and hate each other because they destroyed their ancestors. A never-ending vicious cycle. I do not understand Putin's motives at all. Thanks for sharing your views with us and for dropping by my page. I have just written something to post of similar ideas. Sara K

Brilliant Valsa you have addressed the most relevant issues that prevent (a world without war), and boy there are so many, mistrust of either side, just makes them build bigger and deadlier weapons, for fear they get them before each other, whatever happened to the war to end all wars (WW1), evocative piece, cheers David
