A Hurting Heart

Beggars seldom get to select their preferred meal, accepting the scraps that fate is willing to give. And an empty stomach eats whenever it can: it's not particular about the source at hand. A lonely heart doesn't question if love is real, convinced lies are sparks; trust ignites passion's flame. And hope overrides any perceived risk of pain, a feeling so strong it compels dreamers to try. Reality blurs within the make-believe world, tears evoke silent screams, fueling nightmare dreams. And easily blinded by love's exquisite light, joy morphs into doubt as relationships falter. Overwhelmed by lies, suspicion unveils the truth, and immersed in self-pity, your dreams fall apart. And a jilted heart bears the scars of betrayal, inflicted by flattery, fake smiles, and sweet lies. The illusion of happiness feeds frustration, as fledgling hearts pursue love's elusive embrace. And yet, hope never abandons a hurting heart, tethered to desire, dreams, and fantasy wishes.
