Best Our Poems
Verse 1
I would love to be your comfort
A blanket when you're confused
A bright song on every dark day
Warmth and hope you cannot lose
To be the canopy to cover you
When life’s storms come your way
I can be the one you’ve longed for
'Cause I hear the words you don't say
Pre-Chorus
Let the past slip through your fingers
Those old ghosts fade from sight
Take my hand and feel the difference
You're walking into light
Chorus
When our worlds collide, love paints the sky with quiet fire
With colors only born from deep desire
You're safe in my arms, girl, don’t be shy
This is what it means when the night reshapes its light
And your heart finally whispers, “You’re mine”
Verse 2
Your eyes could light the skies tonight
That coy smile, wow... it melts my heart
My guitar plays you sweet love songs
This is our time when true love starts
Bridge
Drift away, lay your fears down
On this shoulder made for you
In the hush, hear my vow, my truth—
Every dream you dream, I’ll pursue
Chorus
When our worlds collide, love paints the sky with quiet fire
With colors only born from deep desire
You're safe in my arms, girl, don’t be shy
This is what it means when the night reshapes its light
And your heart finally whispers, “You’re mine”
Outro
Being with you, I’m filled with wonder
A kiss goodnight, no need to hide
In the morning, I’ll be your first sight
This is how it feels...
When our worlds collide
sometimes
we are afraid to jump
but we take the leap
sometimes
when we fall deeply
it's not our limbs injured
sometimes
what is meant for us
hurts too much
sometimes
nothing makes sense
confusion reigns supreme
sometimes
we only have tears
to express emotions
sometimes
some see the facade
only a few see reality
sometimes
our heart breaks
but we love again
sometimes
we die inside
but we still breathe
sometimes
we become machines
but we are still human
sometimes
we see the stars
but not the moon
sometimes
when we follow the moon
we forget the stars
sometimes
we look back in regret
but we move on
sometimes
in metaphorical storms
we have poetry
always
when we are silent
we have our words
Our soul's luminous light filters the depth of darkness
shining like a woven thread into the stillness of time
It was there where we met, in a universe long forgotten
where we merged wrapped in the twilight of breaking dawn
We've known love in worlds that have passed
before we cried out for a new birth
where our spirits rolled like thunder
needing to be heard
You are the emptiness I feel
until we meet...in every journey
when we cross the arc of time once again
Somewhere
when our lips finally meet
and the rush of this new world stops
It's there trapped in the fragrance
Love will be forever warm
To drift in a dream, where our hearts flutter
and love's face glows, in all its colors
To float away with life's night
where our souls capture love's fire
holding its flame gently
To feel the velvet petals of passion's flower
where the fragrance wafts from blooms
caressing our yearnings with the sweet scent
of intoxication
As our hearts merge in glorious freedom
leaving this world without a care
slowing the flight of hummingbirds
when we whisper a symphony of desire
heard by welcome ears
until the beautiful dawn splays ever soft
across sensual eyes of love
leaving us standing over the graves of our hearts
as we await another life, in another place and time
for our love is eternal and we will meet again

Now that only forgotten promises remain,
sounds of solitude are gifts I wish to obtain.
Sentiments are temporary in a world full of change,
affections are wasted in an insincere exchange.
Some say my words are engraved too deep,
others feel expression is only cheap,
so close your mind and enjoy your sleep.
because if you hear me then you'll weep.
Sometimes we have to forget our hearts visions
Life don't come with any terms and conditions
Forgive me if I seem emotionally challenged,
as I hide my feelings when everything seems unbalanced.
My soul's invisible, your ignorance won't see it crying.
Inquest of a grief stricken heart concludes into spirit dying.
Trauma vibrates like an orchestra of lightning horns,
with fate bleeding thistles in a rose garden of thorns.
In the mourning of seeds that blossomed too soon,
breathless, I wrote my name with stardust on the moon,
but now i wander in a meadow full of nettles,
as the ink of life is a burden upon the sepals.
With silent sighs hidden behind a poetic verse,
I ponder if the quill is a blessing or a curse.
Sometimes we have to forget our hearts visions
Life don't come with any terms and conditions
Forgive me if I seem emotionally challenged,
as I hide my feelings when everything seems unbalanced.
You see...
I'm struggling to discover a reason to survive,
so I stand here screaming at the Grim Reaper to arrive.
He mocks and laughs at the patheticness of my pleas,
whilst inner demons offer my soul no apologies.
I can see cosmic imposters in ebony horizons,
misleading like fake guides sparkling like diamonds.
Reminds me of a veiled star that never forgave me,
who betrayed me to decay in the death of my poetry.
Sometimes we have to forget our hearts visions
Life don't come with any terms and conditions
Forgive me if I seem emotionally challenged,
as I hide my feelings when everything seems unbalanced.
Oh regret, why do you look back with such anger?
Sometimes words are the most toxic form of cancer.
Are these just twilight stories before a prelude of sunset,
or unwritten feelings I've learned to suppress, to forget?
'Twas the night before Christmas and their pages were bare
Not one word could they write, not one verse to declare
The Grinch had snuck in, and in one fell swoop
Had stolen the muses from poets on the "Soup"!
It was the thing that all poets dread
As visions of emptiness swirled in their heads
No syllables floated to fill in the gap
Some poets decided their contest to scrap!
Then on the blog page there arose such a chatter
Poets rushed over to see what was the matter
The blogger's avatar was just a red sash
She said she could get back the muses, for a large sum of cash
Many of the poets thought this was a trick
It was just a scheme to make money real quick
But in the blink of an eye another blogger came
He said that St. Nicholas was his real name!
Now Heidi, now Anne-Lise, now Andrea and Jan
They told us that St. Nicholas had a plan
To the realm of the Grinch where green snowflakes fall
St Nicholas would go and retrieve the muses for all!
In no time at all he took to the sky
And to the realm of the Grinch on his sleigh he did fly
As the Grinch lay sleeping the muses he withdrew
And to the Soup, again he flew
He delivered the muses to all the poets around
Poets started writing their words did abound
They wrote of angels and bright stars, and things that uplift
St. Nick had given them the muse as their gift
Then St. Nick called for all his reindeer
And soon he took off and flew out of there
But they heard him say, before he left the site
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good write!!
My love, do you ever know...
In your moments of hushed silence,
I am your sound;
You are the rhythm
of the symphonic waves
in the vast sea
of my romantic verses;
Jasmine blooms, fresh, I am
and you, the thread,
together stringed, we become
fragrant garlands
that adorn and purify
our sacred sanctuary of love;
When you form the visible arc,
I become the invisible arc
of our vibrant rainbow of love;
My love, don't you know...
You hold the key to my
Paradise of Love-
there, in a spot, so beautiful,
I sit sprinkling my romantic ink,
my heart beating fast
as I await your arrival,
when thrush nightingales
sing ballads of love
and a soft zephyr
tickles and whispers into my ears
that you are on your way
to meet me.
Come, my love, without further delay
forget all the petty tiffs we had and
unlock the door to my paradise.
Hold me in your arms, so that
our eyes would meet
with gazes deep:
domes of black and white
will then become verses of love
As I would read
my own muses, so deep
in your eloquent eyes,
and you, in mine,
so magical and dreamy that moment be
when the wheel of time
would stop for some time
For us...
Just for us...
I feel your pain like it was mine
Having an ability to see your soul
If you hurt and can't speak
Sit here with me for I am fluent
in silence
And if your ghosts from the past
leave you sleepless then know that
I will be there to watch over you
taking the first shift so
Sleep will go undisturbed
Our tragedy in life is not death
but what we let die inside of us
Remember that you do not
only live once
we die once but we live everyday
we only need one friend
who will be there for
us always regardless
keeping our ghosts at bay
when we feel we can't go on
To allow us to rest when
we are too weak

RETREAT TO HEED OUR HONEST DEEDS
Two old oak trees weathered by winds and rain
with fallen leaves, branches and toughened bark
to shield a core of grandeur, and sustain
the wisdom borne to see the light from dark.
Two noble men aware of twilight time
both face evil world with courage and grace
Love and Nature gifts each, a life sublime
all standing with courage none can erase.
Each rooted within mother earth's great fold
weathering this world's darkest raging storms
images show lives lived regally and bold
tho' existing in weakened earthen forms.
With words of wisdom written in our seeds
we seek retreat to heed our honest deeds.

The 28th of April; I'll always remember that day
It was very overcast and the sky was quite grey
That short journey to the vet I will never forget
And when I think back to that day, I have no regret.
He was such a welcome member of our family
A playful cocker spaniel and we named him Ozzie
He loved to go for long walks out in the country
When he saw us with his lead, he'd go off in a frenzy.
I thought he'd take off when he started wagging his tail
The weather didn't faze him, be it ice snow or hail
I would mumble about the weather under my breath
But he was loving every minute although soaking wet.
We'd get back from our walk and I'd rub him down
You could see the joy in his face and never a frown
Then after his dinner he'd lie down for a long snooze
Out of all the dogs in the world every time him I'd choose.
He was eleven years old when he started to fade
I lost count of the many visits to the vets we made
We must have given him every medicine and pill
But we knew in our hearts that Ozzie was quite ill.
0ur family got together to discuss what was for the best
Reluctantly we all agreed that we should put Ozzie to rest
That terrible morning arrived, it was just another day
All he could do was sleep, he was just too ill to play.
My wife came home from work and I carried him to the car
Then drove slowly down to the vets, it wasn't too far
We went inside and sat down and no words were said
And I tried not to think that soon Ozzie would be dead.
It seemed like a life time then a nurse called us in
I carried him to a side room; the vet was waiting
The vet reassured us that he wouldn't feel a thing
We were both biting our lips to stop us from crying.
We'd brought his favourite biscuits and fed him one by one
And just a few minutes later our playful Ozzie was gone
We stayed with him for a while and then left him there
I know now it was for the best because we did care.
We got home it felt empty no one to greet us at the door
And I missed seeing him where he'd often lie on the floor
Its been three long years now but I'll never forget
That Ozzie was one of the family and not just a pet.
(Ozzie left us on the 28th April 2017)

Our Love Language
We have our own love language we both share
A squeeze of the hand, a half smile, a glance,
It’s the unspoken passion within our romance
Like lava beneath that may unpredictably flare.
That magnetic attraction that began from the start
It drew us together, though obstacles abounded,
Devotion grew fast but we kept ourselves grounded,
Then after two years you surrendered your heart.
When mates have lived together as long as we two
There is bound to be thunder and lightning born
With a flood of issues that pour heavy, storm torn,
Yet we wait out mal weather until skies are blue.
This promise I give you until one of us must leave
I will share in your happiness, be there in your sorrow
No matter what life dispenses in days of tomorrow,
Should I pass on first I don’t want you to grieve.
Death is but a station in a more peaceful dimension
I will wait for you there and I will watch over you,
Should you get there first please watch over me too
For our souls have no restraints upon our ascension.

In Love, Our Romance Flows In Kissing Streams,
Poets Tribute Series, fourth poet, Lord Byron
Claim I, thy wondrous heart into sweet dreams,
And in that soft glowing realm we slow dance;
In Love, our romance flows in kissing streams,
As Cupid's well-shot arrows took no chance.
From this teeming earth we dwell in pleasures,
While life lays golden bounty at our feet;
We wake to dawn's glory- its great treasures,
Finding welcome cheer in all that we meet.
Sky awards us its most heavenly blues,
Nature cries out its joy to our pairing,
Flowers parade forth their brightest of hues,
Our faithful Love is in this, our Sharing.
In our dreams we are eternally slow-dancing.
In our bedroom, eternally true-romancing.
We are bound as kind souls forever true,
As a bird pair, that in blue heavens soars;
You touched my hand and then deep Love I knew,
Triumphs beyond paradise's hidden shores.
This our great blessing, a gift preordained,
Its gleaming morns, as bright as shining dew,
May we this true bliss forever retain
Beauty, as our sweet longings we renew.
Come to me my Love- let thy hand seek mine
Allow yet again, lips that beg thy touch,
For within thy glow, I too can soft shine,
Souls at peace, cherishing life very much.
In our dreams we are eternally slow-dancing.
In our bedroom, eternally true-romancing.

Romanticism, ( Poet's Tribute Series, Lord Byron )
oh how i love the color red
red is love and love is red.
i painted a moment
used a palate with every shade of red,
only red.
that is the color of our love,
of pain
of lips
of blood
of skin
all and more is our love.
used a palate of reds
painted a moment
painted you,
and with depth of color
i captured you.
perfectly!
i never spilled a drop,
my brushes,
my knives,
my hands,
my eyes,
they all served me well.
moments are not easy to create.
how precious they are,
difficult to inhale fully
but even strained
i would always take you
all in.
the fullness of you
all in.
i would never spill a drop.
me?
i'm all in.
my creation takes form
stands and walks,
i follow,
paint,
not a drop
do i spill.
when you offer gifts
they need to be special
they need to be - well thought out.
oh! how well thought out you are.
oh! what moments we have shared.
life,
so kind to us,
the time we've spent.
if a philosophy teacher,
if one asked me,
"what's it all about"
i would say
"you"
i would ace that test.
nothing exists in its full majestic glory
until i experience it with you.
i would lift the sun every morn
draw it down every eve
illuminate the sky fantastic.
every morn.
every eve.
a lover's night
under the moon,
part the clouds
if like curtains
they blocked our view,
if like a wall
they blocked our light.
now,
my moment painted
i observe.
my hand nowhere to be seen
it was you guided this piece.
you and me my love
surrounded in red
against a red background
and not a detail unclear.
our hands holding.
our lips touching.
you are my breath
the beat of my heart
neatly painted in red,
perfect!
it is us,
our love is red
every shade
and every tone
is we.

life is a guesthouse,
no one overstays their welcome.
As background music
slowly muffles into softer tones,
breaths struggle to appease.
Deep painful faint sighs,
fall like crumbling leaves -
I'm vulnerable like a naked tree.
Autumnal eyes gaze
towards my looming winter garden.
Heart is a paper bag of emotions,
now full of leftover crumbs -
where spring once merged with summer petals.
Mind is a vague collection of
recollections and reflections -
forgotten memories, unfulfilled promises,
words lost in silence.
Destiny tested with her games.
I am still a humble child,
with no care for winning, nor losing -
settling for her stalemate.
Regret is that untraveled path,
not following the signs - reluctant
to feast from the garden of her Eden -
pondering if it was worth the sin.
Now
so many watery eyes,
resonate like violin tears.
Brown, green and blue -
but I do not see hers.
Motionless with shivers and chills,
Lights are dimming, silence is manifesting.
In haziness, silhouettes appear,
as life begins to disappear -
I can barely hear the music.
Our life is a poem,
each beat of our hearts a drop of ink.
Some leave behind words,
some blank pages.

I've dreamt dreams in my life
till you forgotten who I am
the smooth curves of my lips
and roses in my hair.
You've dreamt dreams in your life
till I forgotten who you are
the dimple of your smile
and velvets of your heart.
But stars never forget our dreams
Stars never forgot your wet fingertips
writing proposals on the sand
Nor those kisses treaded softly
as you lifted up my hand.
So if the colour of the night
gets dark and dusty blue
If you ever think of me
If I ever think of you
Just close your eyes
Remember ,there's the splendour of a star
Still shows me where you are
Remember, there's the splendour of a star
Still shows you where I am
It shows eternal Heartbeats
Of a woman and a man.
Because Stars never forget our dreams...
Line of enquiry:
"We look for that that does not come and go
it cannot be organic form, subject to decay
thoughts and beliefs are fickle, how little we know
yet come what may, our inner child continues to play."
Souls search for the eternal, silently casting their gaze,
pondering about what remains untouched by fading days.
What are we but primitive forms, easily led astray.
Upon a quest for the timeless that will forever stay.
Thoughts and beliefs are fragile like whispers in the wind.
Volatile and flowing in a dance that can easily rescind.
How little some know about their inner cosmic aspect,
yet onward we journey, undeterred by the prospect.
In the theatre of life our inner child takes the stage.
A playful spirit immune to the true wisdom of age.
Through tribulations and triumphs our characters change.
Laughing in innocence, youth cares not how the storms engage.
We are mere guests to travellers we meet on the highway,
each one with a lesson but most never really stay.
Our spirits flourish when we search for sincere meaning,
so if we do not question, then life can be demeaning.
For in seeking the eternal in a world of ebb and flow,
we find comfort in the constant, where inner treasures grow,
so, let my heart ignite in intimate fields where dreams remain.
To embrace tomorrow, regardless to what hopes we attain.
