Retreat To Heed Our Honest Deeds

Teppo’s poets notes: This poem is written in tribute to the friendship I share with my co-author and fellow sonneteer, Robert Lindley. Like two old trees we have weathered the storms of life to share the same vision and wisdom of life through words of poetry. Although we live worlds apart, I feel true closeness through our friendship. It is always a great pleasure and an honor to write with you, Robert. Thank you for accepting to co-write this sonnet with me, my friend.

Robert's poet's note- This sonnet is written with my great friend Teppo, a truly great poet and sonneteer. I have found that we both share so many similar values and visions in how we honor poetry and its gifts. Through our poetry, soup mails and collaborations we have developed a close friendship which is a true blessing.
Always a great pleasure composing with you Teppo.
Thank you for honoring our friendship by inviting me to write yet again with you, an honor.

RETREAT TO HEED OUR HONEST DEEDS Two old oak trees weathered by winds and rain with fallen leaves, branches and toughened bark to shield a core of grandeur, and sustain the wisdom borne to see the light from dark. Two noble men aware of twilight time both face evil world with courage and grace Love and Nature gifts each, a life sublime all standing with courage none can erase. Each rooted within mother earth's great fold weathering this world's darkest raging storms images show lives lived regally and bold tho' existing in weakened earthen forms. With words of wisdom written in our seeds we seek retreat to heed our honest deeds. 22nd June, 2018 T.J Grén & Robert Lindley

Thank you my friend. Teppo wrote the greater part of this sonnet. I was invited to compose with him and I wrote only the final six verses.... It was Teppo's first 8 magnificent verses that truly set the stage. God bless...
