Premium Member Beacons of Light

As long as man has lived upon this Earth
The quest for beacons of light has endured
Primitive cultures, man’s earliest ancestors
Found wonder in the moon’s allure

Upon the seas, more advanced civilizations
Made their way guided by celestial orbs
Eventually creating historic lighthouses
     To guide their navigational course

Greeks found solace in a light
     Emanating from Mount Olympus
Gods and Goddesses they worshiped
Until the discovery of those truly blessed

God’s light serves as our beacon now
Eternal glow that guides us through storms
And when we discover this light’s power
The spirit of the believer transforms

Satan’s path winds only through darkness
     Images of eternal suffering emerge
When we fail to find the beacon of light
And remove the stain of sinful scourge

It is man’s choice to pursue radiance or darkness
The preferred path is usually lit by the bright
For just as early man perceived from the moon
Souls are ever drawn to beacons of light

Premium Member Sacagawea

Born the daughter of a Lemhi Shoshone chief
she was captured by the Hidatsa in her teens.
And sold to the Mandan Missouri River tribe
where she met and married Toussaint Charbonneau.

A French Canadian trapper and a trail guide
Charbonneau was familiar with the region.
Meriwether Lewis and William Clark spent a
winter with the Mandan waiting for the spring thaw.

Toussaint and Sacagawea were hired as their guides
and in 1805 they set out to explore the wilderness.
While on the trail she gave birth to her son Pompey
and strapping him to a cradle-board they trudged on.

A strong woman and a gifted interpreter
known for her perseverance and resourcefulness.
Bird Woman helped to persuade many native tribes
of the peaceful intent of the expedition.

Once a canoe capsized jeopardizing all of
their valuable possessions and journal entries.
Yet she saved the logbooks of this epic journey
including the navigational charts and maps.

A legendary figure in history she
was indispensable to Lewis and Clark’s trek.
And today She’s honored on a golden dollar
a rare coin issued by the United States Mint.

Premium Member Making Memories

Zipping through New Hampshire’s White Mountains
Suspended by a rope through trees
Autumn colors accompany a brisk breeze
Turning your face bright, scarlet red
Don’t look down, just peer ahead
Live joyfully in each challenging activity

“What,” you say, “no engine?”
Sail planes ride wind currents
Regular airplane tows you up
Then you are cut free
To rely on navigational skills

Parasail over turquoise sea
Images below evoke wonder
Tiger Shark approaches bathers
No distress signal sent

Rev the engine
Noisy jet skis
Bound over waves

Bucket list
Now empty

Memories!

                                  Navigational beacon, guiding

to distant lands, ships are traveling

Blessed To Be a Blessing: To Go From Good To Great

how does anyone go from being good to being great?
what is required in order for someone to elevate?
to be an agent or an angel of the Lord our God
to have been designated because of the righteousness in your heart
blessed to be a blessing when you answer God's call
from ordinary to extraordinary on your faith now standing tall
pressed into service and now affirmed by the Holy Ghost
moved beyond your comfort zone to where you're needed the most
in the process of transition increasing in your faith
accelerated from just good into someone who is great

whenever God speaks to you He will make mention
of what He requires of you and what are His intentions
He will use you as a conduit to carry the currency of His word
to tell people the gospel truth the likes of which they've never heard
and when God compels you to move forth you won't need a map nor a GPS
just follow His directions as your journey is the true test
just don't worry about the where, the when, the what, the how nor the why
as long as you Who's in control and that on His word you can rely
and wherever God leads you it will be some place for the better
just make sure you follow His heavenly navigational system to the letter

blessed to be a blessing to faith your way along
just don't wander down unmarked roads that may steer you wrong
you're now a faith walker and not just a faith talker
to let your passion for Christ be first and foremost in your life
to let your trust and belief in the Lord God be the thing that jump starts your heart
and now motivated by the Holy Spirit you will come to find
that the word of the Lord God has completely saturated your mind

blessed to be a blessing to go from good to great
fired up, pumped up and passionate in your faith
to aspire with the desire to be a blessing to your sisters and brothers
to motivate and not hesitate in making disciples of others
to go from good to great blessed to be a blessing
to adhere to the instructions that the Lord our God is stressing
willing to step out on faith and leave all you know and possess
trusting in God to guide you and in turn by Him to be blessed

going from good to great by increasing in your faith
blessed to be a blessing by the goodness you now demonstrate

Don'T Grab the Steering Wheel While God Is Driving

don't grab the steering wheel while God is driving the car
just put your trust in Him that you will travel very far
we have a tendency to pray on things but of them we won't let go
we keep worrying about the problems and won't let God run the show
instead of looking at the Lord we keep looking at the load
we need to keep our eyes on God and not on the road
so don't grab the steering wheel while God is in the driver's seat
just be prepared to remain a passenger until the journey is complete

there's no person too insignificant and there's no problem that's too great
God's always on time, He's seldom early but He never arrives late
so just sit back and enjoy the road trip that is your life
and place all in the hands of your mechanic Jesus the Christ
don't worry if you get a flat Father God has a spare in the back
and don't worry if you run out of gas the Holy Ghost has a full spiritual flask
and don't fret if you happen to a make a wrong turn
just consider it a lesson in life that you've learned

don't grab the steering wheel while God is driving the SUV
just make sure you have on your seat belt for the road of life tends to be bumpy
you won't need a navigational system nor a GPS
just trust in God to steer you safely through all of your mess
don't worry about the insurance and you've already passed inspection
just don't try to be a back seat driver and give God any directions
the road of life may twist and turn down some valleys and over some dales
but as long as you stay prayerful you might miss that exit going to hell
and if you get stuck in traffic there's no need to feel overwhelmed
be anxious over nothing remember God is at the helm

so hand over the keys to your life and let God take the wheel
and believe He will guide you towards those eternal Elysian Fields
so don't grab the steering wheel while Father God is driving the van
He'll get you to your final destination according to His master plans

Premium Member Butterfly Monarch King

It floats through the air effortlessly
Wings beating at high velocity
A navigational marvel instinctively
It's amazing with 5 stages of puberty

With a 4" wingspan it's really impressive
Every one tries to catch one for their collection
They fly every which way in every direction
Stunning beauty seen upon closer inspection

The monarch is king of all butterflies
the rest pale in comparison
Flies from Canada to Mexico
to the fourth generation.

It's an amazing creature with one
distinguishing feature
You can tell the male
by the black spot on the tail.

The complete metamorphosis from one
form to another.
Reminds me how we too can change
from one thing to another.

From selfish to kind,
from hateful to loving
but we must make the choice, as
we are free agents,
free like the butterfly
but without instinctive
wisdom we need help from above.

A Day In the Life 1957

Standing here feeling the constancy of the trade winds blowing my hair around
I marvel at the bright whiteness of the birds flying in their madly screaming love of
life
Again I try to focus on one. It’s a futile task for even my young eyes
How they can go through these intricate maneuvers without colliding is amazing
The tarmac is white with their waste and once more I thank them for their
consideration
Soon I too will be aloft flying in the false darkness of a super Constellation radar
patrol plane
Watching Russian “trawlers” and the “whales” that sometimes accompany them
We’ve used them as navigational aids on the way back from the Aluetians to this
white sand dot called Midway
Their constant patrolling has helped many a time when the day clouds in and
Nav can’t get a sunline. The same two eyes that can’t keep up with
a gull have found us the way home.
Scope doping, manning a line of defense, flying thru all weather conditions,
a wall of planes, ten eyes each ,doing sentry duty in relative comfort
Days of boredom seconds of terror It improves my poolgame plays hell with my
poker skills (folding sucks) and makes 3 2 beer taste okay while we play soft ball
awaiting the next flight Three more then it’s back to Honolulu
What will it be like remembering these perfect beaches and awesome sunsets
when I’m old and forty Will this Elvis rock still be around?
I wonder if England has any country singers
Nah! Who’d under stand them?

-an Open Book-

~An Open Book~

My life is quite an open book
For anyone to take a look.
It’s lying there for all to see
Feel free to uncover the real me.

Within its pages I share my heart.
It’s like a navigational chart
To my dreams, my pain, my sorrow,
And all my hopes for tomorrow.

In this book, my fantasies I disclose,
Some in rhyme and some in prose.
But on these pages you will discover
The man who is my one true lover.

Between the lines, my fears I reveal,
These I have no desire to conceal.
The pain and anguish are all a part
Of the many emotions in my heart.

Know that I have nothing to hide,
My book tells of my shame and my pride.
So if you care to have a look,
Feel free to ask about my book.

Premium Member Lighthouse Am I

Amidst waves with their varied intensities

Beyond disasters and catastrophes

Contending and prevailing over calamities

Determined am I to do my mission for seafarers

Effectively warning against ocean-caused wreckage

Fulfilling my role as good guide...

Guarding and governing toward right route

Here I stand formidably, helping save precious lives

Influencing triumphant navigational moves

Journeys are made safe and secured by my presence

Kindness of my beam radiates the Sovereign Director's might

Lighthouse* am I at your service

Magnificently reflecting the Lord's brightness...

Never, never ignore me then!!!

Falling To the Earth...Rising To the Heavens

Could it make you feel
You know it all
Watch out
I might fall

Out of this world
Out of this mind...
...set...
And that's match point

To the point
It's the tip of the iceberg

Your ship crashes
into my world
Navigational direction
can't help you now

"Watch out for falling dreams,"
the sign reads
They can break your hopes
and break your heart

That's just a start
or an end

Pieces fall
do you let them lay?

We all fall down
and there's always
A new day

Honest Contemplations

Contemplation is what is required to maintain a healthy mind. With it, you will have the power to communicate. Without it, you will join that ever increasing group of zombies you will pass by almost everyday of your living existence.

Contemplate that you are not what you think you are, but rather, you are what you think others think you are.

Contemplate the fact that we are really only prisoners in this world, like a person in for life. Our reality, accept it or not, nobody gets out of this world ALIVE.

Contemplate that the question really is 2bpositive, or NOT 2bpositive, that IS the (only real) question.

Contemplate that ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies is better than asking those questions and NOT knowing you're getting (only) lies.

Contemplate that being free is not doing what you want to do. True freedom, is the strength of character and fortitude to do what you DON'T want to do.

Contemplate that if you contemplate, you must be alive. However, if you elevate yourself as a giving human being as well due to your contemplating, you can be confident that you probably have a healthy soul as well.

Contemplate that the answers for the mysteries of life that you always sought , won't be that long in coming. These answers are only as far away as your remaining time in this world.

Contemplate what is the worst thing that man can do to you in this world, that your death ultimately cannot make up for.

Contemplate that although human nature is to acquire, on your way to meet your Maker, ultimately, you'll no longer have a need for pockets.

Contemplate that the value of the one true friend waiting for you tomorrow, outweighs the 100 friends you think you have today.

Contemplate that with age comes wisdom and with wisdom power--does not always guarantee--that with this newly acquired power will come wisdom.

Contemplate and if you have the brain to really contemplate, then you'll continue to contemplate and reset your life's navigational and logistic apparatus accordingly.

contemplation is like a fascination
only you control, its illumination
and decide its dissemination
hopefully, without discrimination

it is a place to go
a place to show
but most of all
THE place to grow..............

When the World Was Flat

There was no rotation around the sun
Earth was the center of the universe without rotating
People would literally go Medieval on your ass
Ships on the ocean were frequently eaten by sea monsters
Or fell off the planet due to poor navigational planning
They say the worlds end is near
Parasites lived within all human beings back then
Making holes and lesions on faces of the people
Dating and good looks did not go hand in hand
When I was young there was no food to eat
We lived on religion and the word of God
The Dark Ages were darker than you think
Parents died at age twenty five or five
I can't remember
No medicine or science at that time
There were plenty of leeches though to suck your blood
Love was in the air in Spring
Black Plague was everywhere
When the world was flat not too long ago
They still had snow and shovels
Shovels were used exclusively to dig a grave
Kept busy in every season for no particular reasons

Nick From Italy

He asked for directions
It was a train ride and a walk that mirrored mine
We were apart on the train
My minimal sociability
We met in the roar of passengers
A second offer of navigational help was given
We strolled with small introductions and talked
The ticket office prompted our fission
A Mediterranean farewell

How Safe Are Luxury Liners

Luxury liners

A crew of thousands mostly
low paid men and women
who works long hours
for little reward.
How to train them to be
competent seafarers?
Add four thousand passengers
who know little of the perils of the sea.
It takes so little a fire in the engine room
that cannot be stopped;
a navigational error?
I was a seafarer but I would never
dream of joining those floating palaces
of restaurants and nightclubs and
trendy officers who are chosen for their
looks and not sturdy ability.
