Joseph
and Mary
traveled on a

donkey
to give birth
in Bethlehem,

but there
was no room
in the town's inn

In the
silence of
the starry night,

born in
a manger
the dear Savior

Angel
announces
to the shepherds:

"Today
nearby is
born a baby

God's son
the Savior,
Jesus the Lord

Angels
sing: "Glory
to God in the

highest,
peace to His
people on earth.

Shepherds
came to the
stable to pay

homage
to the new
Infant Jesus.

Magi
came adored
offered Him gifts

“And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
“And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.
“He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest” (Luke 1:30–32).

Manger Shadow

A shadow lurks behind the manger bed
 Swaddled by indifference,
  Creeping behind
 Lowing cows
And
Bleating sheep,
Power without power raising up a hoary head
While in vanity dim shades attempt to weave
A gloomy thread into the scent
   	 Of frankincense
		And
         Myrrh;
Endeavoring to cover ears of prophecy,
 Encouraging ignorance
  With busyness in crowded streets
     Of travelers taxed,
	Bowed down with burdens;
No Gloria’s heaven sent
As shadows pass in front of starlight
	On highways straight
	 Deserts wild
	  Mountains leveled
And star-struck strangers
	 Asking only for directions;
Where flowers,
	Blooming in the wilderness,
Lay trampled
 Beneath pilgrim’s feet;
Trying to drown out
	Amen
		And
	In Excelsis Deo
Shouted out in triumph
	To wide eyes
		Keeping watch
			Beneath olive trees
Rather
Longing to smother a baby’s breath
     With a snarl,
Rejoicing only in the anticipated silence;
To leave no room at the inn
	For goodwill
		Or
	Shalom Eternal
Yet cower in a nightmare’s chaos,
	Breath held in,
For a kingdom lost by victory
	Already claimed;
Futility, the unwelcomed guest,
 Birthing fury
That pounds upon the chest of truth,
	Stalking the Word protected
          By holiness,
Claiming dice unfairly loaded
 To howl
	In rage
As justice and as peace now kiss –
As swords and spears
	Rise up
		As plows and pruning hooks
To tend the vineyard of the King
Then sing out the great glad tidings
   On a mountaintop
Where people walk out of darkness
 Into light.

A young couple plan for their first baby,                            they must first take a trip.                                              It is winter with warm days~cold night,            they need a place to stay.                                All rooms have been booked,                                          only a stable was available.                                            A King was to be born,                                                    the animals were listening for the cry.                              Angels and his mother sang,                                            as the baby slept to the lullabies.                                     The three Wise Men saw a star,                        now traveling to the town of Bethlehem.                          They were bringing the baby gifts,                                  gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.                              No one knew how this baby would change the world,         Jesus our Savior had been born for all to see.                  We now have a story to be told,                                      shout it for all to hear.

Jesus,
born this day as
the world spun round and hearts
beat, small and humble the savior
of this world born in a manger beneath
His guiding star in Bethlehem.
The Word became flesh and
dwelt among us,
Jesus.

 Soft rays slant in radiance
Lingering voices and starlight
 Swaddle the eternal light
Serenading the Word
 Who sang them into life

It came at the right time
Just before my fragile heart
Was about to burst with the largely
Unnecessary stress of work

Some things have to be completed
The boss's demands
Wielding power with no
Consideration for the small man

Or the small woman
(not so small now actually)
I think we are both tired
But rules is rules

They say "it's the journey,
Not the destination"
But the destination can be
Important too..

Anyway we made it
It's been a rocky road
Travelling via the starlight
Resting when the heat overwhelms

There is so much to look forward to
So much.
I sense it's very nearly time..
I just have to find us a bed for the night

NATIVITY

Sung to the tune of "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem"

Our infant school nativity,
Directed by Mrs. Page,
Was my first opportunity
To act upon the stage.
I always was an extrovert;
So that appealed to me.
My hopes and dreams of all the years,
An actor I would be.

I wanted to play Joseph,
‘Cos Mary was played by Joyce.
And, of all the little girls in the class,
She was my first choice.
And if I couldn’t be Joseph
And ride along with her.
I’d be a king with golden crown
And frankincense or myrrh

I practised every morning,
And every evening.
Imagining the audience applause
For Joseph or a king.
But when it came to casting,
It didn’t come to pass.
The part that Mrs Page gave to me
Was the back half of the ass.

But one day I’ll be famous,
And then I’ll marry Joyce.
The latest toast of theatreland
And all will know my voice.
I’ll invite all my friends to attend,
As I take centre stage.
They’ll be there in the front row.
But I won’t ask Mrs Page.

As the morning dawned to a world of white
and smoked curled up from chimney pots
Indoors people started to stir and rise
the children excited ran to the tree.

Beheath it, presents in colourful paper
and delightful smells waft from kitchen
All dressed up in their best for church
they file into the pews singing a carol.

The vicar tells the Nativity story as
children act it out.

Then home for their Christmas meal
where father say grace and bids all to
remember the birth of the precious child.
Once the meal is done, it is present time.

First Dad hands one to the youngest
and all watch her joy as she opens it.
Each in turn opens theirs to find
that Santa had answered their dreams.

The vicar tells the Nativity story as
children act it out.

At evening prayers the message given
is to love one another and always to
walk in Jesus's ways holding him dear
to be kind to all and help when you can.

Back at home after supper it is bedtime
and happy children snuggle under covers,
it has been the best Christmas ever.
But they will carry always the memories.

The vicar tells the Nativity story as
children act it out.

(True story)

As nativity plays go, this one was a doozy
with plenty of chances to fail
and even after all the countless rehearsals
it did, on a Biblical scale.
My part, I was Joseph, and Barbara was Mary,
the Jesus doll wrapped in a sheet
three wise men in the wings with tea towels on their heads
plus trainers and pumps on their feet.
The donkey was resting, a little bizarre
since the creature was mounted on wheels
and in the light of the candles it's red plastic handle
just made the scene slightly surreal.
The stable was made from the school's Wendy house
for the play they used just two hinged walls
as the wise men came Joseph leaned back on one arm
and the whole structure started to fall.
The look from the prompt at the front of the stage
signified I was in real deep trouble
as the magi and shepherds all valiantly scrambled
to pull Mary from out of the rubble.
The infant child surfaced though held upside down
from the tangle of thatch straw and rafters
as his messenger Gabriel rolled on the floor
in a fit of hysterical laughter.
The following year I found I was demoted
as teacher didn't want to lose sleep
over what new disaster I'd find myself master
so I took the back row as a sheep.

A Nativity Scene, Brooklyn Style

The fire alarm went off at the projects,
but when they got their, no one spoke,
and there was the absence of fire and smoke,
it was just going to be a prank,
and that’s when a crime scene developed
in a project house basement, a dank,
the odor was so bad, it just stank,
		it was an unfurnished place,
		where an elderly black man
		went missing without a trace,
and after completely opening up the basement door,
they found that missing man stretched across the floor,
he was in full rigor, and what’s more,
he was covered by a long sheet
		of plastic painter’s tarp,
skin cooked in its own oil and heat,
shoe laces tied to his hands and feet,
and there death and drama would meet,
four homicide detectives and two firemen
		stood over the body,
a dim basement with low light,
doing its best to fight off the night,
		and they waited awhile,
it was like a nativity scene, Brooklyn style,
		 not in a manger,
but in a two story brick pile.

Son
of God
our Savior,
was born. In a
manger filled with
hay, in a stable,
his mother near, Jesus
was sent to us. Many
came to behold and, led by
the Star of Bethlehem saw Mary
and Joseph with their child, not
just a tiny babe, but the Son of God.
On that Blessed and Holy Night
they knew that Christ was born. Suddenly,
from the clouds above, spirited angels
appeared to them singing glorious hymns
of joy to announce the Savior's birth.
Until now, from long ago, vigils are kept on
Christmas Eve; we gather- pray at Midnight Mass.
Xmas or Christmas, it's all the same;
the "X" means "Chi",
or Christ in Greek.
With
love
keep
___Christ in Christmas___

Note:
Chi (or X) is the first letter in the Greek word for Christ. In the early days of the Christian church, Christians used the letter X as a secret symbol to indicate their membership in the church to others. If you know the Greek meaning of X, Xmas and Christmas essentially mean the same thing: Christ + mas = Christmas. (Google)

Premium Member Nativity of Jesus

To look
upon His face,
hold in my craving arms,
seek his divine grace and favor.
I'd spread my wings and sing a Cherub hymn.
The Seraphim angels' harps would
strum melodies paying
homage to our
God's son.

Premium Member Marveling Upon the Star of Bethlehem a Story of the Nativity

Early autumn on the rise against the night sky
two silhouettes, black against the clouds of stars
one sit riding sideways upon an ass
while another walk beside holding the lead
along the road tired, dirty, and worn

Sometimes she felt ill and fatigued
as she feels the child move,
the thoughts of her beautiful baby
she was about to have put her at ease
and the sickness would cease

No room in the lodge, but room in the stable
"She gave birth to her son as angels watched
A lullaby she sang while he slept cradled in a manger

A blazing beacon suspended in the mid night sky
lead the Sheepherders eager to see the Infant child
lying in a manger, in swaddled in cloth

A dream they thought a silvery gleam
A mighty host of angels appeared in the heavens, praising God!
who would become the Messiah, the Son of God
thus, one day redeem us

Shouts of joy came alive in the night air
as cherubs gather singing
"Born upon this holy night
Christ the Savior is born"

With gifts three kings
Marveling upon the Star of Bethlehem
A blazing beacon suspended in the mid night sky
Guiding them to the perfect light

The Nativity

Following a star on high

Shepherds tending to flocks a message given

Tonight a child is born

Premium Member A Nativity Scene

The sinking sun left hurriedly from Bethlehem,
Leaving a dark chilly sky without any clouds
The town was overcrowded with many people,
The smell of sweat reeked every where, no place to wash.

Late at night two figures limped into town dead tired.
The woman felt the pain for birth was immanent.
The husband knocked door after door but all was full.
No one was sorry for them and preferred to sleep.

Swiftly a star appeared and shone on a stable.
The woman riding a donkey sought refuge there.
The old man scattered clean fresh straw for the maiden,
And whist the man sought food and drink, she birthed a child.

The breath of a cow and donkey kept the babe warm.
Angels led startled shepherds to adore the child
Hosanna, sang from above heavenly music.
He was the King of Kings. born to save all the world.
