Best Madeleine Poems
My love, I cherish
Your words
Your thoughts
Your soft lips
My love
I cherish the walks
The soft winds of fall
le jardin, L'eau
The flowers in bloom
The cafes and cloudy skies
Madeleine, columns of the past
Your eyes, holding on, to the last
The streets so vibrant, your touch at my side
And as we stroll along life's garden paths
Your soul sings in silence
Paris at last
Sonia Esmee Florence Butt ( work in progress )
The year 2014 comes to a close
Another unsung hero passed on, from a time long ago
Poets free to express our thoughts
Due to the bravery of Sonia D'Artrois
The day was may 28, 1944
A parachute and Sonia fell from the sky
Cropte, France, behind enemy lines
Her code name Madeleine, terrifying times
Explosives, and weapons, she understood
Training the Maquis to fight, in Charnie the forest hood
A woman who earned the respect of all around
For she was the leader of the underground
Great distances on Bicycle she would ride
Courier and messenger delivering supplies
Right in front of the Nazi eye
They never discovered this lady, Blanche the spy!
D'artois she met in the war in France
Explosions of love, this great romance
After D-Day, more explosions too
Many a Nazi was felled in his shoes
This British heroine when victory was assured
Across the sea to Canada she went
Married her lover
Met in danger, in the resistance of France
Notes Sonia d'Artois passed away on Dec 21, 2014 at the age of 90, a British woman who at a very young age joined the SOE ( Special Operations Executive ) She was parachuted behind enemy lines in France nine days before D-Day to lead a group in the french resistance (The Maquis) There she met a Canadian an officer in the Canadian army Guy d'Artois. They fell in love and later settled back in Montreal Canada.

But in USA that is a crime
Hello.. Adele
You're in California dreaming
About us from long ago
But right now I'm the beach
With my new girlfriend in Trinidad and Tobago
I know you're sorry and you're missing me
And you keep calling cause you're feeling sad
But if my girlfriend sees and gets your number
She will call you and curse you up real bad
Hello from ste madeleine in trinidad
I'm standing by my front gate
I know you miss me and its breaking your heart
I know you're sorry but its much to late
Much to late
Hello Adele !! Could you please stop calling
I'm at "NAZ CUISINE " in Corinth junction
I'm with my girlfriend and we're celebrating
THE west indies beating England
Hello from Trinidad and Tobago
This long distance charge is very high
So I'm just calling you adele
To tell you goodbye goodbye
You had your chance but you blew it
Now you want another chance at it
But if you don't stop calling
I will call the police then you will deal with it
Hello ..adele .. Are you still there
Did you understand what I'm trying to say
If you keep harassing me
I will change my number today
Hello.. adele ? ...It,s me"Why are you calling
it,s so early in the morning it's only quarter to four
I know you,re heart broken and You're hurting
But you have to understand I don't love you anymore
I know its hard to get over me
When you remember how we use to be
When you Trimble in my arms
In the moment of our ecstasy
Hello ..adele...You call about a thousand times
At least I know how many times you tried
But it's time to put down the phone
How many times must I say goodbye
Hello ..Adele ...My girlfriend wants to talk to you
She said after all these years why you still want to talk about everything
She said "if time heals all pains
Why you're not healing
Hello ..adele .. Now you,re gone and get my girlfriend mad
Don't you know "Trinidadian women don't like no woman calling their man

A man talking loud in the subway
For every body to hear
He talking about his country
And the beautiful women they have down there
Well I open my ears now
I playing “maco “I want to hear
Now every one looking at him now
But he just talking, her don’t care
He said he from Trinidad and Tobago
With the prettiest girls where ever you go
From down by the wharf in san Fernando
Port of Spain, ste Madeleine, and mayaro
He said, Trinidad and Tobago
Is like one big fruit bowl
After god made Trinidad women
He destroy every last mold
Some tending cattle in the country
Some is an executive secretary
Some is doctors and lawyers
Some is house wife’s making hot sada roti
Some dress in the latest style
Some just like a casual dress
Some goes to Shirley beauty salon
And some like their hair in a mess
You will see them bathing on the beach
You will see them walking on high street
You will see them entering at “Naz cuisine”
To get the best food in Trinidad to eat
They come in all shape and sizes
Different color and different race
like Molasses tulum and sugar cake
With Different religious practice
Trinidad is the beauty capital of the world
Remember Janelle penny commissiong
The first black miss universe
To ever hold that prestige’s crown
Well I must admit he had me thinking
Were is this paradise Trinidad and Tobago
I going work hard and save my money
And just buy a ticket and go
Trinbago women love doubles with pepper
But still they sweet for so
And they kiss does still taste like sugar
Even when eating chow with half ripe mango
The way he talking bout Trinidad women
You would swear he talking bout a candy factory
All the men who was listening
Take out their phone to call the travel agency
Well the guy gets out the train
But leave us thinking bout Trinidad woman
Some of us just want to go for one
And some want one of each in their bands
Well I know I’m not good looking
But I want to go to this island in the sun
So I call Sandra travels to make a booking
So many beautiful women, I want to get one
My last request is
Lethal Injection of good
La Madeleine soup
Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum
Heh Heh That's all there is Folks!
Your turn "write last line!"
A lady on high street with ah tight pants
And all the men turn and watching she
Well I pretend I didn’t notice
But in the corner of my eyes I look to see
Then I went down by the hospital
Stop and drink an apple J
Was to full to eat any doubles
Because I was by naz cuisine today
Had smoke herring with tomato
With two hot sada roti
And some nice mango kuchela
With a hot cup of coffee
Then I walk up Harris promenade
Sit on a bench by the engine
It was under a big tree
So I just sit in the shade relaxing
San Fernando really has nice girls
So much passing in front of me
I tell a red Spanish girl good afternoon
She said “mind your business you stupidly”
Trinidad girls is very nice and friendly
But it has a few with bad attitude all about
Some girls talk sweet like honey
And some have a pepper in their mouth
Well I going to the place I learn tailoring
By “ram mohess “on the lord street
It’s been many years I haven’t seen them
So I carrying some beer and KFC to eat
Many don’t know I am a tailor
I can make suits, dresses and everything
And Use to designs at “images sewing factory“
Own by my good friend “SHIVA GOBIN “
And I cannot forget” Mr. Lopez”
Another tailoring shop down the coffee
He who give me my job letters
To get visa at the America embassy
All these people has really help me
And I am grateful for what I’ve learn
And they will be in my memory
Although our roads in life has turn
Then I went down by the sea wharf
They do catch big fishes down there
Then pass by San Fernando market
Ands stop In a rum shop to drink a beer
Jump in a taxi to ste Madeleine
See my nephew riad in the backseat
He said, man it’s to early to go home
Let’s go to a bar on high street
Lites and roger was by the library corner
So four of us went in the bar to lime
Then girlfriend text to say she love me
Enjoy my vacation, have a great time

Gold medal
Since he was a child
Would pretend he won gold
And gets his medal
Being cheered by the world
Wake up this morning
Is a young African
He puts on his old shoes
Wants to be an Olympian
Running the dirt roads
He set him self a task
Hoping to accomplish
What others dare to ask
He never went to school
To be an academic
The only dream he has
Is to go to the Olympics
He runs thru the jungle
Under the African sun
Now he standing in London
Soon his dreams will be born
It’s all about a gold medal
And the will to win
It’s like a burning fire
Athletes has within
A typical kid from Trinidad
Growing up in the sun
Watch Olympics with his father
And dream was born
Rides on the gravel roads
Thru the usine canes fields
Will only stop to change
The tires on his wheels
Rides the hills of San Fernando
To the city of Port of Spain
The back road of princess town
Then to ste Madeleine
Make the Olympic team
He was the best that night
He thinks of his mother
As he hugs his father tight
Great Britain 2012
Didn’t get the gold
But happy for a bronze
Satisfaction to his soul
We all want to win
At everything we do
But being happy
Is really up to you
Every one are born equal
But must pave their own roads
And as we continue to travel
Will carry some heavy loads
But the evil acts of other
Can fill some lives in misery
And leaves you wondering
With no focus a or destiny
I hope that all like this
Will over come their obstacles
Because we all are winners
Even if we don’t have gold medals
Would Poke Than Provoke Until Broke
had heard when they poke
potential was to provoke
would do until broke
we read about Jobe
was wild when he wore a robe
earing in each lobe
(in room had a globe)
had been cynical
when war was political
am hysterical
often obsequious
he had been called hibiscus
presumed promiscuous
would wear uniform
which always did keep him warm
protect in a storm
found dog in his lap
around would slap and slap
in brain was a gap
he had an instinct
when it did become distinct
in certain precinct
when we heard compline
knew Jesus was always fine
glad that He is mine
we were paddling
when we first met Madeleine
her horse saddling
was a perfect host
paperback did cost the most
he would brag and boast
(Admiral Stavrides)
over eggs would flip
had looked like a sinking ship
when we got a grip
spring is in the air
at singing birds sit and stare
scared away by big bear
(On 28 June 1914, in the Balkan town of Sarajevo,
an attempt to assassinate a royal Austrian duke
failed miserably ... or did it? Gabriel Princips, one
of the plotters, stopped for a coffee and by chance
saw the duke, sitting in a stalled car, and shot him
dead. This triggered the First World War. Here,
the cafe owner fails to grasp the significance of
what is unfolding.)
Komm hier, Nannerl. Put down that tray. Observe.
It's thus we take the skin off warmed-up milk,
just so. But where's that little fellow gone?
The one stood there. This is his coffee. Look.
The small one, dark and oval in the face,
with piercing eyes ... I know - but will he pay?
One coffee and a madeleine he had,
and looked the type to linger for an hour.
How strange! Go, look. He might be on the street.
Some twenty years, a feeble black moustache.
No, not the corner door - look out the side.
A Slav, of course a Slav! No manly Teuton
would leave by side-street exit. Go and see!
It's typical of them. I know them well.
My name's not Moritz Schiller if I lie.
They're children - so impulsive, petulant -
incapable of seeing anything through.
That's why they need us. Isn't it obvious?
We're like the English, it's our Ireland,
we're here to civilize them. At what cost?
I'd rather train a cat. They're sulky, dull,
perpetually ungrateful ... what was that?
Good God, such noise! You'd think a war was starting,
or the crack of Judgement Day. Nannerl, was gibt?
It was my evening, that's
For sure -
"Its your aura"
For sure -
At last I'm good
At something.
"Spot the Equity card!"
"When are you going
To be a superstar?"
Said Sarah.
That seemed to be
The question
On everyone's lips.
At last, at last, at last
I'm good at something.
And so the party...Zoe
Called me...I listened
To her problems;
References
To my innocent face.
Linda said:
"Sally seems elusive
But is in fact,
Accessible;
You're the opposite -
You give to everyone
But are incapable
Of giving in particular."
Madeleine was comparing me
To June Miller;
Descriptions by Nin:
"She does not dare
To be herself..."
Everything I'd always
Wanted to be, I now am.
"...She lives
On the reflections
Of herself in the eyes
Of others...
There is no June
To grasp and know."
I kept getting up to dance
Sally said: "I'm afraid;
You're inscrutable;
You're not just
Blase
Are you?"
I spoke
Of the spells of calm,
And the hysterical
Reactions,
Psychic exhaustion,
Then anxious elation.

Four Cafes
Winter mists swirl up from puddles on the cobblestones blurring the names of the four cafes facing the narrow boulevard. Townspeople and visitors walk briskly with their heads down, collars up, against January’s invading chill.
From my apartment window I gaze hypnotized as people scurry through invading night like fallen leaves.
Madeleine and her small son, in a shopworn cap, wait outside darkened How Wheat It Is for day old bread. Breakfast.
Light from the bistro next door, scattered through the raindrops, makes prisms. A couple, identities disguised by distance, celebrate new love over chardonnay in bright blue like a rain painting reflecting on the street.
Old Charles slowly pushes open the heavy doors of Four Seasons Café, white paper box, leftovers for lunch in his apartment next to mine, clutched in arthritis molded hands. His apartment still smells of Marie’s Bellodgia and Arpege.
A golden glow scampers into warm corners of dimly lit Aubergine’s at the end of restaurant row where Jacqueline, Michelle and Annette share secrets of young women over rich expresso and lemon tarts to the strains of Mood Indigo.
January swirls above the street’s night life like a parasol holding this portrait in time.

200 Words
Sleeping beauty has reawakened, and it is springtime again,
So like the younger days, when you skipped with Madeleine.
Purple hyacinths and daffodils, are fragrant in the meadows,
And the bush near the house, is colored with burgundy rose!
Wild hyacinths and dewy daffodils, usher in the sassy season,
Giving secret joy to many hearts, within the blooming region.
Birds sing in chartreuse fields, from morning until glitzy night,
When a day's flamenco dancers, are the rapture of moonlight!

(after Charles Baudelaire)
Around me hurled and roared Place Madeleine:
and you were tall and svelte, in funeral dress,
majestic in your grief. One deft caress
set your hem dancing. And I knew it then.
Such elegance! Those legs, so statue-like!
I drank you, like a furious alcoholic:
that brow of yours, where tempests breed and frolic!
The sweetness which enchants, before it strikes!
A lightning flash ... then night. Elusive beauty
who, with one look, gave me my life anew,
will we not meet again in all eternity?
Elsewhere? Far off? Too late? Let's face it, never.
I lost you in the crowd. The thread was severed.
I really could have loved you. And you knew.
