Gold Medal
Gold medal Since he was a child Would pretend he won gold And gets his medal Being cheered by the world Wake up this morning Is a young African He puts on his old shoes Wants to be an Olympian Running the dirt roads He set him self a task Hoping to accomplish What others dare to ask He never went to school To be an academic The only dream he has Is to go to the Olympics He runs thru the jungle Under the African sun Now he standing in London Soon his dreams will be born It’s all about a gold medal And the will to win It’s like a burning fire Athletes has within A typical kid from Trinidad Growing up in the sun Watch Olympics with his father And dream was born Rides on the gravel roads Thru the usine canes fields Will only stop to change The tires on his wheels Rides the hills of San Fernando To the city of Port of Spain The back road of princess town Then to ste Madeleine Make the Olympic team He was the best that night He thinks of his mother As he hugs his father tight Great Britain 2012 Didn’t get the gold But happy for a bronze Satisfaction to his soul We all want to win At everything we do But being happy Is really up to you Every one are born equal But must pave their own roads And as we continue to travel Will carry some heavy loads But the evil acts of other Can fill some lives in misery And leaves you wondering With no focus a or destiny I hope that all like this Will over come their obstacles Because we all are winners Even if we don’t have gold medals
