Premium Member I need to say you are loved

To you who have
never received a love letter ~

Here is the one I write to you
so you may hold it in your hands
and carry it next to your heart.

You are a kind soul and have bestowed love,
you've seen beauty where there were clouds
~ to you I offer gentleness as a bouquet.

My thoughts are genuine and caring,
my heart goes out to you because
you deserve the gift of tenderness.

You deserve to be told daily
how beautiful you are inside out and
how you make this world a better place.

Premium Member To Be Loved - POTD

To be loved
is to be a wildflower
blooming in springtime.
How wondrous to be much desired
by all the honeybees in the meadow.
There's no greater wealth on all of earth.
That feeling,
that inexplicable feeling
is like being all wrapped up
in warm satin sheets.
Oh, what a thrill it is
to be loved, unconditionally.
It's like being sung to all at once
by the robins of the universe;
words can't possibly describe it.
Is it crazy to imagine
it feels like a walk across
heaven's pearly gates?
Is it but the loveliest of dreams
one would rather die
than awake from?
Oh, I bet it is.
I know this much is true,
it's heavenly to be loved
by you.

Forever Loved

You could never be mad at me
Wise old man whom my heart could see
You were there when I needed you
Just a young child so full of life
Causing many an adult strife
If I lied you could see right through
You could never be mad at me
Wise old man whom my heart could see

Because of you I changed my ways
Have respect till my dying days
You were there when I needed you
If I lied you could see right through
You could never be mad at me
Wise old man whom my heart could see

Loved and Lost -

To love
Is to remember
The touch of your hand
Your voice
When you called me cariad

My mouth remembers your kiss
The feel of your lips
Sensual touch of your tongue on mine
The closeness this brings

To love
Is to want to be with
Man woman or child
To love them
to want them near
To take in their being

When you love
It tugs at your heart
Making your chest swell
With unknown pleasure
Spreading to a smile
your eyes lighting up
face aglow

The feeling of love
Keeps you young at heart
Helps you want to face another day

Yet no more
That love has lost its way
Floundering in the brink of destruction
Searching, for the exit of depression.

Needs to see the light once more
Yet all there is, is the heat of hells fire
The internal hell, that goes around and around the brain
Looking for answers, for the reason.

Memories try to flood the senses
Memories of the hope that once flourished
Now is smouldering in the no mans land of waste
Is there love ever after?

I'Ve Loved Moons That Did Not Glow,Before

My Beloved,

It doesn't matter

If it is I who comes to you

or if its you who comes to me

All that matters

 is to be with you

All that matters

Is to love me true

Cause I' ve loved moons

that did not glow, before

And I loved stars

that did not shine

I drew two hearts

on sun-kissed sands

One heart was washed-out

 by the night ~tide.

I lit a candle in silent winds

but has been smothered

by fog and mist

A dreadful sea-foam

stole my pearled sails

and with it

each endearing bliss

My Beloved,

I do know the trade of roses

for the crimson that thorns bleed

I embraced the pang of absence

when warmed eyes were not to meet

My Beloved,

It doesn't matter

If it is I who comes to you

Or if its you who comes to me

All that matters

is to always find each other

Cause our love is meant to be.

Premium Member When All I'Ve Loved

When all whom I have loved are gone,
Dear Lord, when I'm the only one
Who cares if I should live or die,
When there is no one left to cry,
Then Lord, take me.

But if there is a single soul
For whom I play important roll,
Who might just stumble, lose his way
Without my guidance through the day,
Then I would be

Content to stay another while,
To give him courage, bring a smile,
Teach him to look to You above
For truest guidance, purest love
His way to see.

Then I would say, "My work is done.
On Earth there is no other one
Who needs the love I have to give.
No reason now for me to live.
Dear Lord, take me."

The Private Lives of Those I'Ve Loved

The hutch
like everything else in this house is
crooked. A slanting hardwood floor
and the burnished ends
of an ancient table.

An ever rounding table
"a table with history" she says,
a lineage with the cut
and lineaments
of the eight-score man who built it.

The eerie, beautiful portrait
of some great- great- great-
someone-or-other
hangs so solemnly with Victorian grace
the nail has begun to bend,
but she will never fall.

One cabinet for the silver
and wine glasses
has been painted triple-white
and sunk into the wall like a safe.
Its shelves boiled clean
to hide their ignoble wood
(probably pine).

Not like the Oak left bare-
the smell and musk
of those dark hand-hewn ceiling beams
and the redolence
from somewhere behind the house
of deep-purple lilacs
growing fat like grapes.

Outside, the painted gardens swirl together
in a dizzying carousel of color and light
with short, fat brush strokes
and heavy, bold shadows;
the flowers burn from the healthy soil
replacing sand from ten years ago.
200 bags of fertilizer and now:

A nightgowned woman plays firefighter
every morning with a green hose,
keeping up with the investment.

Premium Member Mistaken That You Loved Me

'My' biggest mistake was being born a girl
I was never going to meet your expectations for you wanted a
Son and you got me ...mum said to you ‘I was the next best thing’
That’s maybe why you treated me and my sister
Anne so differently - she was like a princess
Kept by you and mum, never having to work
Even now she treats me like a second class citizen BUT
Now you are no longer here I am finally free from the past

There are no words to express my
Heartfelt sorrow at the way you treated me
All I wanted was to be loved by you but
That love was never ever there for me

You never acknowledged anything I achieved
Or the fact I gave you your only grandchild
Unwanted unloved that’s how I was made to feel by you

Looking back over my life has been difficult
Only recently I discovered the full extent of the
Variance between the way you treated us both during your lifetime
Except one thing you could never take away from me was my
Determination to stand on my own two feet and be my own person

Maybe life could have been different if you’d got the son you wanted BUT
Everything I have I worked for and I am proud of who I am

My Biggest Mistake Contest sponsored by Laura Loo

This is probably the most personal poem I have ever written but it has been so cathartic to finally put this down on paper and put my ghost to bed. Maybe in time I will finally grieve for my father, but I have been told by Hospice that this could take many years.

Premium Member I Loved You Once

I loved you once like sun rays love the earth
Like drenching rain that brings with it new birth
I loved you once like waves that reach for shore
And then recede to come in strength once more

I loved you once like stars that pulse with light
Held captive to the Milky Way’s delight
I loved you once like moonbeams touching trees
That dance within the branches as they please

I loved you once like clouds that grace the sky
Ethereal testaments to love on high
I loved you once like tender falling snow
Embellishing the world in splendid show

I loved you once like angels drawing near
To bring the needed comfort and to cheer
I loved you once like flowers dotting land
that blush in bloom of love in fusion grand

I loved you once, but once a lifetime fills
My life without you is devoid of thrills
I loved you once and earth was paradise
My sheer delight in love defied disguise

I loved you once; I love you for all time
You’ll never taste a love as sweet as mine
I loved you once, and once lives on in me
It is immortalized in poetry

Premium Member Being Loved

The one thing that all humans crave most of all
is the feeling of being loved by
a person that you love too
nothing else will do
that much is
true
it feels great
when someone loves you
there’s no reason to feel blue
for your lonely heart has been given
the one thing that all humans crave most of all

Only God Knows For How Long I have loved you

God knows for how long you have been in my heart
Since the moment I'm here, you are with me
Oh my lover I swear on my God that after Him
The most dearest to me in this world is you

When I close my eyes I see you
When I open my eyes I long to see you
When you aren't with me, I feel you everywhere
Every time, every second all the time
I die in order to spend my time with you

Only God knows for how long I have been in love with you
Since the moment I have had dreams, I wanted to be yours
Oh my lover I swear on my God
That eternal is the love I have for you
And I choose you as mine for both of these worlds

My heart desires to play with your hair
My heart desires that I take you in my arms
My heart desires to kiss your eyes
My heart desires that I make you mine
And my heart desires to hide you in my heart

Only God knows for how long I have been waiting for you
Since the time I'm in this world, you were my love
Oh my lover I promise on my God
That I'll only love you and you

Every single day I dreamt about you
I didn't know how you'll look, yet I loved you
Olive skin, glasses, and dark hair are just metaphors
My love is not dependent upon physical beauty

Only God knows for how long I have been dreaming about you
Since the moment I'm here, you have been in my dreams
Oh my lover I swear on my God
That the only girl I have ever dreamed of is you

I bowed down thousand of times
Prayed a million times
In every prayer of mine there were you
In every prayer of mine, there was a desire to love you
The world will say that you are mine
The angels will acknowledge this fact
that you are mine

Only God knows how many times I have prayed for you
Since the moment I have started praying, my every prayer is for you
Oh my lover I swear on my God
That your wishes are my prayers now
And you meeting me is the fulfillment of all my wishes

Premium Member DADDY LOVED US

Seeing my Daddy in black and white moves my emotional colors
into a vibrant rainbow that was Daddy made decades ago.
Only twenty-seven in the photo, Dad's patience had yet to grow.

                             Daddy loved us

My brother and I thought him old and always right with Dad powers.
He was actually quite young with wife, career and two small tykes.
Despite my flashbulb-face, I could easily visit the photograph for hours.

I know it is from Fort Lee, Virginia, and my tights have likely slid down.
I love seeing Dad's arms around us while we are leaning on his knee.
I love seeing us pressed against his chest and our heads leaning close.

                            Daddy loved us

Looking at the photograph, I can completely sense him, even his skin.
My brother is four and years away from bipolar, he is still a happy boy.
I am newly three and except for tights, nothing has ever bothered me.

In this photo Daddy is visibly near, not gone as called back to heaven.
This photo wilts my composure for I dearly wish he had lived to be older.
As a retired Army officer, at sixty-seven, Agent Orange finally caught him.

                             Daddy loved us

How I Loved You

Too little did I worry,
Too little did I know—
I wasn’t sure that you would stay,
But I never thought you’d go.

And isn’t it amazing,
How quickly day turned night?
It seems my eyes are failing,
For I cannot see the light.

O, they say that it is coming,
No farther than the dawn—
But it seems the sun is indisposed,
For it weeps that you are gone.

Some will call it merely rain,
But how are they to know?
Whatever do they know of pain—
Or how I loved you so?

Devoted family together, we grew.
Building strength, morals & virtues
Experiencing, accepting & learning
Trust & honesty, caring & sharing

Affectionately sharing fears & tears
Engaging unrehearsed fun & humor
Enlightening the others hearts & souls
Genuinely amused & rejoicing,
WE LAUGHED!
Faithfully dedicating ourselves, we grew.
Committed to our individual life
Our own identities & styles to create
Achieving our goals & conquering strife
Temporarily reunite to enlighten & share.
WE LIVED!
Separate lives, our own realities unfold, we grew.
Apart combating our own failures & defeats
Our lessons & struggles abundant
With illuminated hearts & enlightened souls
Reminisce & commemorate our memories
TOGETHER WE LOVED, LAUGHED & LIVED!

Premium Member Loved Ones

Chased by the fleeing clouds
defined by the wind
life running too short,
make peace with loved ones.
Tell them you love them,
hug them and be moved.
Tomorrow might be none,
for later tears and broken heart,
it'll hurt when they're beneath the earth.
