Reflections of Insanity

I don’t believe there is such a thing as a mirror,
Because this so called reflection is not really me.
I think he is a stranger that moved into my house,
For the man that I see is somewhat, ugly.

I think he built this life size window
To spy on everything that I do
And I can tell you he is beginning pissing me off
I can feel my anger’s starting to brew

Once I moved to the side of the window
And he disappeared out of sight
What I could see a part of his room
Gave me an terrible fright

The bugger’s been to the same shop
And bought the same things I have
The bed, cupboards and lamp shades
And on the table he even has the same Sat. Nav.

I peeped into this window
With the hope to catch him off guard
But there he was looking at me
Staring just as hard

I stood in front of the loser and cussed the most colourful words
The monkey aped every action even the moving of his lips
Then it dawned on me that he wore the same clothes
In the same pose with his hands on his hips

So infuriated, I punched the window
And ended his years of peeping tom jeer
However, the bugger is now haunting me
In every glass I happen to peer

Premium Member Love Abides

Love sought me out
Never leaving me in doubt
From my Mother’s eyes
Shining bright, alive, life-size

Love silenced all my fears
Wiping away my tender tears
Reassuring my soul of hope
Silencing weeping so I could cope

Love braved the coldest dread
Making me feel joy instead
Encouraging my faith, my trust
Erasing worry and every disgust

Love singled me out to believe
Silencing uncertainty, so I receive
Promises of a future so bright
It’s pretty much black and white…

Love lives inside, always smiling
Charming, persuading, beguiling
Creating a home for every dream
Where God’s wonder reigns supreme

Love like this is alive, a dancing fire
Reminding the heart to believe and admire
The grace that brings relief and peace
It will never go away, never release
The heart from its amazing conviction
That love is more than simply addiction

Love is the prayer and the solution
Love is the heart and soul’s restitution
Like a light burning away the darkness
Removing the past’s haunting, its starkness
With the brilliance of a passion so alive
The feelings inside the heart will forever thrive

God is love and love is God
Wherever you go, here or abroad
There is no doubt that love abides
Joy, hope and peace it always provides

Love like this is a wonder
Nothing can ever put it asunder

Premium Member Butterflies and Swans

Does the caterpillar understand
it will become a butterfly so grand
Does the tiny ugly duckling realize
it will be a gorgeous swan, life-size

Does the blind, featherless baby robin know
that off into the sky, it will breathtakingly go
They, of course, can't imagine these things ~
That requires a human mind with wings

Premium Member The Next Isle Over

There I was.

Inside a crowded Toys R Us
On a mid-Winter’s evening

Abrasively loud 5 year olds
And depressed fathers
Ready to throw their “angelic” brethren
Into life-size Nerf basketball hoop
(Because it was on Clearance)
To embrace sanity’s madness

I was simply here to search for a porcelain doll
For my darling 8 year old angel
To match her serene complexion

But, toddler stomps & red-faced pouts
Equivalent to octaves of Hell’s 5th circle
Could not stop the strut that suddenly coated my foggy nerd glasses

There she was.

Her 5 foot, 10 inch majestic walk
Performing exorcisms on corrupted tile floors
With each
New
Step

My ear canals
Swimming in the serenity of
Her olive-coated curves
And violet-auburn shaded, shoulder-length curly locks

Left
Right
Left

Sensual witchcraft was placed upon my resilience
Chipped away by her Hazel ribboning pupils

My heart’s atrium, flat lining, with laughing hyena smile
Frozen by igloo’s revenge upon madness

“Excuse me, sir”, she vehemently moaned

(At least, in my head)

“Hi”, I expressed with pre-pubescent coarseness.

“I’m looking for a porcelain doll.
But, I’m a tad lost in this maze.
Could you help me find my way?”, she whispered with demure smile

With my tongue pressed against seconds’ icy arm,
Locked for dear life,
I inhaled with Olympic stature

“It’s 9 isles this way. May I show you?”, I confidently declared on sanity’s edge.

With constellations aligned by blue moon signatures,
“Yes, please”.

As crux of evening’s audible stresses
Faded into final curtain’s epileptic sunset,
The winds of Yahweh curtailed all foggy affirmations
Into palms of bliss

Because
On this night
I proudly took the long route

Slow dancing with magnificent silence
To the isle
That was only 2 steps to our left

I believe we both discovered our porcelain dolls on this night.

Life

Life silenced dash-
think and cry
life is pretty!
Frustration with life, the life of unrest
The way of life
I silenced a lot Life
Silenced the cast!
My life is blackhole
....Life in Hell
Life brackets () , the minus _
Silenced the beard.
Life is hard mind
life is open mind
on the sky raft
pretty life, smile life
Life in the daytime!
Life in my mid - afternoon,
Strong heat of the sun
Life plus, life death
dash life size!
Silenced loses the pulse of life
minus silenced life.
The comma, the colon
bloody life!
Life cloudy, life ashes
Life dog rain
Life saratakasa silenced,
What is amazing!
 my life.......
Life and death trap
Silenced the laughter lines
Eid curved moon!
Star of Life hash × °
Table of Life
Life is sweet sour life
Talk about life!
Silenced the heck irritation
The life of heaven.
The comma, the colon;
zero zero life!
life is death after ...

No Mother Nature Today

I see the scape that is in front of me
There is no green today, no sound,
Just views from the window pane
Looking down on a life size model
Cars like cutouts, lined up all in a row
A visual from an architect’s mind
The sky is blue, the tar is black
Concrete paths so crisp and new
I don’t hear the sweetness of a birds call
Or the leaves shimmering from the breeze
No remnants of rain been and gone
I guess mother- nature is absent today
Preparing for her moments to shine
On a scene that is still yet to be
A place where her magic will breathe
Life, into the architects dream

I am looking for new ways to bedazzle you.
But I am at an impasse and I can't move.
I feel like a bird with no wings,
Like a ship with no sail,
Like a car with no engine,
Like a swimmer with no water,
Like a runner with no track and field.
In my mind I move my feet but I don't move.
I want to wow you like I once did.
I want you to be in awe of me.
Your approval means the world to me.
I long to see you smile from within.
These words are spoken every day and
night to a life size mirror on the wall.

Premium Member O, Dear - Whatever Can the Matter Be

Where are my shoes? I can't find my shoes!
Where have I put them? They're impossible to lose!
OMG, I'm ashamed! This is awful! Don't tell anyone the news!
--Whew! Now take a deep breath: I've found them with the booze.

Oh, no! Not my hat! Oh, drat! I simply can't have lost that!
My purple-pink alligator hat, the one that's cockeyed and flat.
Where could it be? It's not in the wine vat or under the doormat.
--Whew! Inhale and exhale: It's perched on top of the green velvet cat.

What's this? Ee-gads! My wedding ring's not on my finger?
Where in Heaven or Hell did I possible fling her?
Doggone it! It's not inside my life-size replica of a honeybee's stinger!
--Whew! OK, calm down! I see it: on the tippy-tip-tip of my hummingbird's
                                           dinger.

O, Dear! Whatever can the matter be? Do you think that I'm losing it?
That I've got Alzheiimers, Dementia, or I'm Inspector Clousseau-ing** it?
Not a chance, my precious darling: Boot your brain and start using it!
Once you remember I'm already 99 1/2 years young,
You'll be glad that the green velvet cat in the purple-pink alligator hat
                                  Hasn't yet got my tongue!

APOLLO 11 BRIGHTENS OUR FUTURE

Beyond the twinkling stars, so still - the dark.
We strive for greater things - the Moon and Mars.
And Venus we do praise her beauty mark.
Our Milky Way - homogenized gold stars.

Forgotten Pluto, runt, invisible.
And mando Jupiter, so powerful.
Each planet thrives alone, divisible.
Our great universe quite so beautiful.

Astronaut stands heroic with flag plant.
We stare up at the shining white rapt moon.
We dream to see a microscopic ant
or life-size man, on the right side of June.

The mysterious sky lights up each face.
The night unveils our future life in space.

Premium Member 'little Girls Fall In Love Easily'

I am going to turn back the clock of time,
     to a Christmas when I was six years old;
shopping with my mother one day I saw something,
it was a life size doll and I fell in love.

I talked about her non stop all the long day,
    and I wrote many letters to Santa (and his wife);
my mother kept saying, "wouldn't you like a baby doll?"
"no mommy, I want life size Sally!"

On Christmas morning I flew down the stairs,
     the tree was all a glitter and Christmas music played;
but no parcel looked big enough for a life size doll,
I opened one box to find "stupid" baby doll.

My lip was quivering but I did not cry,
     dad brought a white kitten in his arms for me;
but little brother took it and they were playing,
so, I went upstairs until mother called.

And there was Aunt Mary holding Sally doll,
I screamed- she was my "everything" for weeks!
then- I picked up baby doll, "she had stuff",
a cradle, bottles, clothes- and I fell in love.

Penny For the Guy

Boom! Goes the deafening rockets!
Shocking to the ears,
November’s here again,
Sometimes for celebrations other! Terror,
Dark night skies lighten up with beautiful colors,
Children re-enact the failed attempt
Of Mr, Guy Fawkes
Trying to blow up the House of Lords,
With his gunpowder,
Still remembering him today,
And his plot to kill!
We’re reminded of it with every crash,
And the life-size effigy of this criminal,
Sat perched on the street,
Or pushed around in the pram,
Until we throw him on the bonfire,
Penny for him! Please,
Excitement the fires are lit,
Catherine wheels and sparklers,
Hot roasted chestnut!
England goes into chaos
Rubbish is collected,
That scary night is over,
Leaving a smokey atmosphere,
And the ringing in our ears
Until the next year dawns.

Five-and-Dime Store
                    by Odin Roark

Maybe I remember ‘cause…

Everyday was a holiday
At Woolworth’s Five-and-Dime store.
Colored things were floor-to-ceiling,
Holding fast the lingering scents of popcorn,
American grilled cheese sandwiches,
Salt Water Taffy and fudge squares,
Clashing with parakeet and hamster living.
They were in the back where the little kids’ zoo was.

Maybe ‘cause…

Life-size cardboard Hopalong Cassidy
And Gene Autry cutouts hung from fishing lines,
Wrapped round roof nails.
Five and Dime treasures dangling over
Kid literature my dad called them
Five cent comic books right next to
Licorice and malt-ball canisters.

And just up the aisle,
Grandma’s favorite counter
Where she’d always buy her special envelopes--
Light blue par avion with printed airplanes.
I’d lift my chin up to the edge,
Stare at those airplanes
And dream. Wow, how I dreamed.

Maybe I was collectin’ make believe
for when…

Oh, how Mom and Dad, Grandpa and Grandma
Loved to drive the Model A into town,
Saunter up to the Five and Dime counter,
Order a turkey dinner,
Or liver and onions,
And then stare so long…
So long they’d stare into
Their empty coffee cups,
While I slurped my root beer.
I could make a root beer last forever
You know?

Mama bought a lampshade once,
The crimped accordion-kind,
Along with those lacy see-through curtains.
“Par-cale” I think she called them.
Never did understand their purpose.
What good’s a curtain you can see through?

And home,
When they were hung,
They’d lift and float straight out
When the windows were open.
Our cows and chickens would chorus up
Join me to laugh and the dancing curtains.
See-through-lift-up curtains.
Made no sense.

Maybe…
Maybe that’s how they all
Wanted to be remembered
Mama, Dad, Grandma and Grandpa.
I don’t know.

Now I sit in my new Lexus
Gaze across the street
Where the twenty-story
Glass and steel office building.
Erected where the old Five and Dime
Held so many good times.

Maybe I drove here ‘cause…

I needed to finger some nickels and dimes
In the pant pocket of my Armani suit
Gaze and remember the sweet smells and jelly bean colors.
When gettin’ happy and stayin’ happy was so easy.

Back then.

Premium Member Bernard James -- Burns Twice

Knock-knock, Come in, hey Bernie what’s up? Harry, you want to go to Peru?
Peru? What’s in Peru? Active volcanoes! I’m going to jump into one. WHAT?
Abby left me and I have nothing to live for. Bernie, I’m not Dr. Kevorkian.
Come on H, I already have the tickets, one round trip for you to come home.
Pack your 35 milliliter camera with the zoom lens and let’s go to Peru.
Bernie, my camera, and I at the west base of Ubinas; outside of Lima, Peru
The smell of hot wafting through the ashen skies, Ubinas is very active
Take a picture of this H, Bernie held up a 15x8 foot sign : Abby I LOVE YOU
He headed up the volcano ; about 500 feet he turned around and waved : Click
Just then a thunderous eruption of molten hot lava, cascading down the mountain
Bernie turned and started running, the lava in hot pursuit touched his boots : in flames
He screams in pain, I’m snapping pictures as he tried to swim through scalding magma
As his legs disintegrate, I zoom in on his ashen white face, as the flames engulf his arms
For a man who wanted to die, the horrific fear on his face, the terrifying look in his eyes
A puff of smoke and Bernard James was gone. I could feel the heat of the lava descending
I run to the truck and drive as fast as I can back to Lima. In a darkroom, pictures develop
Deviously, I make a life size collage of Bernard David James ; starting at the feet---
I set the collage on fire: staring at a face afraid to die, I see the atrocity of Suicide.

Inspired and Dedicated to Colleen Bono This is my part of the Challenge I hope it meets
with YOUR approval…HG
