LATE BLOOMER
sun highlights
the bod of oak bark -
Autumn knight
CLINGERS
won’t let go -
cling to puppy love,
its branches
CLEAVERS
cleaves to old
relationship vow -
storm shakes loose
LANDING
the leaves land
amidst the old maids’
bitterness
BRITTLE BONES
the children
jump in old gals’ laps
living loud
RING AROUND THE ROSIES
circle round
sing, “ashes…ashes…”
and fall down
LEARNING CURVE
life up there
in the lusty air
now seems strange
GONE WITH THE WIND
scattering
the old bats’ ashes
to the wind
REBORN
phoenix lands
a bitty wiser
and lighter

The ski jump was over ninety foot high
A Sumo wrestler thought he'd like to try
Ski's didn't fit right
Both came off in flight
And he landed on some folks passing by.

When I first saw you
That night I was running
You blasted me away
Onto the moon landing
90 degrees out in the desert
(we were in the park)
Cupid shot the arrow right through my heart
(Light shown through the dark)
Orion’s belt started glistening
As you took me on a trip to the moon, the moon landing
When I first saw you
That night I was running
You blasted me away
Onto the moon landing
You took my breath away
Just as they say
The puppy came out of me
And I just had to see…
The moon landing
The moon landing
The moon landing

On my first day in a car factory
A simple girl threw herself at me
I guess I was standing
Too close to the landing
Of the car filled with crash test dummies

Limerick
From the land of god and routes of skies
Wearing the beauty of heavens, she flies
Pacing with warmth, to a baby that cries
Feeling her soft touch, I opened my eyes
“Show me your smile and wipe all tears.
I’m here to relieve you of all your fears.”
“Thanks for coming angel, I was very scared,
I cried my heart out, but nobody cared.”
The tap of her feet, the clink of her bangles, whenever I heard
Across the nettings of my cradle, I stealthily peered
Her presence made me happy, I smiled and purred
What would happen of me without her, I always feared
Thank you for being there for me on my first day
And every day which was there in my life’s array
I couldn’t thank you, or cared to, all the way
Maybe I just realised your worth and value today

the landing was successful
and the flight was smooth
coffee was delicious
and the stewardess too cool
what's it like on this planet
what am i to expect
are the natives restless
do they easily object
not that i care
because i could'nt
even if i could
by nature i would'nt
so lets be very clear
about my presence here
i come to share my language
some happiness and anguish
i'm sure you'll learn to love me
as much as i love myself
because i control The Situation
the situation does'nt control itself

SAFE LANDING
time moves forward
I feel content
roads are foreign
in this place of heat
and perfection
life rolls realigned
keeping pace I
expand outward
daring the unknown
phobic entities
days are long
nights bring rest
and regrets
in dreams of the
subconscious mind
freedom comes
in the eloquent
perception
aware
that this is a
safe
landing

A wise person wrote be careful what you post on your Facebook wall
A potential employer checked my daughter’s and did call
He was impressed with what he saw and read
That is precisely what he said
It’s every parent’s duty in life to teach their child
To be savvy in life, not to act wild
Should your child’s friend post garbage on their wall
Tell your teen to delete it, in the eventuality of a job interview call
The possibilities of landing a job are greater when kids use their brains
Breaking them free from their “so called” friends chains

I saw a frightened argus pheasant
fall out of a cloudless sky crashing
into my limpid pool
kids thought that was so cool
ah, but for him it wasn't too pleasant

wishes for a soft landing
I bought a Pashmina in a
a tight little shop in Lhasa;
the scarf was soft as feathers.
It was woven in Kashmir
by skilled artisans
with peaceful faces.
I walked to a stupa
near the path into the hills
tied it among the prayer flags.
Thinking here in this place
so close to god perhaps my
words would be more easily heard.

Four hours now we'd been in the air
And soon we would come in to land
Then over the tannoy
The captain calmly said
"Landing gears stuck the wheels won't drop
Brace yourselves for a crash landing*.

Verse
where do I set my bags
I believe I am dizzy from all this jet lag
passed through gas like smoke coming out of a train
I need a chair to sit down I may go insane
pass out from all the exposure of this transition
crossing the Pacific Ocean misting
clouds puffing around mountains
back up I am dizzy again did I see a clown and
a man hula hooping across a farm
no let me get together I am too paranoid
from all this sea motion
I am experiencing dysfunctional balances
bar tending soaking
Will a Mai Tai help?
is that all you are drinking
well I may as well and enjoy myself
because when take off after this vacation
I will have nothing left
especially to complain about
here we come beach side surfing zip lining
flies in my mouth
I am ready for this week
i am socially satisfied it is time to eat
pineapples coconuts with straws
while I run under a palm tree with sticky leaves
Hawaii I have come to thee
to enjoy and raise much noise
I left the kids an I am all yous

JULY 1969 – Moon landing
There are no wolves
Astir tonight
To chill our fireside man
The wolves are gone
Are northward gone
From a disenchanted land
From where Maid Moon
Who winked at dreams
Has lost her apple eyes
Oh, someone’s plucked
The saucy dish
From out a virgin sky
Her lover’s cool
Bacterial breath
Has blued the Maid’s gold cheeks
-
And wolves are gone
To howl for her
From woods and mountain peaks

She said
Boy, you couldn't land on water if you fell off a boat!
He responded...
The wind created by the flutter of your eyelashes makes men believe they can spread their masts and set sail in the desert. As I stepped back to observe your beauty, I fell overboard, and landed on dry reality.
As a tear rolled down the side of her cheek, I knew this lucky sailor had landed on water.

' Me & my pal Ginsberg arrive in Poland, now more artisticly able from coffee-blood and sleep deprivation. I hear him say: "If you can speak your heart, speak, but make sure you do it with style; give each word a signature" '
We descend,
the head pressure...
two weeks, two fingers pushing
into the lobe, bent back eyebrows,
head slicked fishlike, tongue numbed,
unable to unfurl, or save brain from
aneurism, burst bloodvessles
over unknown enemy land,
somewhere over graves, cossack soldiers,
dead over stolen hillfronts, battalions,
old anger unsettled on greenhills, wheat fields,
clouds now eye level.
Landed.
