Best Jaundiced Poems
Jaded by the put me downs
Justly feel my facial frowns
Jaundiced views debilitate
Jeopardise my feeble state
Penned 20 March 2017
Used qijue format
Slightly yellow I
Awaken in an ice bath
Without kidneys.
The jaundiced eye is yellow -
but not the yellow of sunny cheerfulness or optimism
Rather – the yellow of an alcoholic’s eyes
when after years of feeding his destructive habit,
he is stricken ill and is dying.
Like the bad drunk who blames others
for his miserable condition,
he of the jaundiced eye
finds his own hideousness staring back at him
in the eyes of those in whom his own misdeeds he sees
and then judges as worthless.
By viewing things through yellow eyes,
he is– in fact – yellow.
The yellow of cowardiceness
and the yellow of jealousy and anger
reside in the whites of his eyes.
He is sick, and his sickness seeps through his soul,
infecting his thoughts and actions,
which in turn infects those around him.
His negativity and bias may hurt others,
but in the end,
he has mainly hurt only himself.
Unless he makes a mighty change,
he will disintegrate ultimately
into the horrible dark void
of his own mortality.

after the storm
azalea perfume
yellows the lawn
With jaundiced eye I look at the politician’s vow
To make our world a better place in four years,
Cure all our ills, and provide calm for our fears,
And I say to myself, skeptically, exactly “How?”
With jaundiced eye I look at those who claim
To be patriots, but with angry words and deeds
Go about spreading discord and planting seeds,
Saying despicable things, obviously seeking fame.
With jaundiced eye I view the biased news media
And wonder the truth of any situation they report
“Doesn’t anybody report just the facts, anymore?”
Allow me my own analyzing without your insignia.
With jaundiced eye I look at magnificent towers
Built for “the glory of God,” on the backs of poor
Folks who fear the fiery pits of hell, for sure,
If they fail to pay homage to the “godly” powers.

bring on narrow prejudice
let us indulge therein awhile
as a game if pretence
as we observe ego guile …
attempting to mislead
essence of our presence
contracting consciousness
by stifling innate innocence …
earth life offers sharp contrast
varied hues of emotion
wherein we may take our pick
as of our hearts inclination …

Fickle movement,
or so it seems;
An old willow bending with the wind.
I undulate from your branches,
both rough and flowing;
An unsuited arboreal life I lead to touch you.
Impenetrable and strong is your foundation,
your roots have taken over any vegetation that once lived in this pasture;
now all the green belongs to you.
And oh, how I was green.
Under you I laid, willow, like Rip Van Winkle
and basked in your complacent shade of protection.
Moving with the tempestuous storm,
a scant bolt took you, something much brighter than I;
This tempest came from the heavens.
Seized your fickle dance and I am in nature no more.
Partial only to your shade, I see through a yellow eye;
Jaundiced.
Jaundiced Eyes
Jaundiced eyes covet past tense masquerades
In crypts where yellowed brittleness recall bitterness
Where glassy-eyed failures suck truth dry -
Vampires with addictions
Distorting graveyards at the altar
Of introspection
Like green-eyed monsters
Grasping
At monetary dust of renunciation -
As thirty silver coins of delusion
Smash against a field of potter’s headstones
Of mummified expectations –
Snake eyes coil to strike
Festering bones of rose colored bifocals
Framed with near-sighted prejudice
In cock-eyed bloodied clarity distorted
Prescriptions,
Opaque, ochre tinted corrections
See beauty as bloodless crumbling petals
When black holes of envy blind side the mindful
Blaspheming the self-evident
In catacombs of blind spots
Where the battered armor of rightness lies still
Awaiting revelation’s softly spoken new light -
A perpetual whispering
In humility's tears restoring lenses knowing the need
For a baptism of clear-eyed focus.

jaundiced spiritual heart and mind-
"Bitter am I
Resentful of your lit voice thoughts
Cynical “sigh” is this all you got
My rage is my tumors, enraged is my stupor
Soured my lips poison distorted
As forth in my ignorant I am bile
Running from my here and now
Disenchanted romancing the thought of you getting more than me
Disillusioned that we are the same
Disappointed because you hold the reign
Pessimistic at opt I’m all you got
Skeptical intermission unfaithful decision
Distrustful suspicious misanthropic
Jealous because what you got and don’t got
Envious of your wares, do you even care
Narrow-minded my hatred cause your skin is______?
Bigoted prejudiced what I got left
My spirit,
My mind
My heart and soul
My lips and tongue
May we one day unshackle our consciousness from bondage,
To our deep rooted narrowness surprise?
Guess what we’re just jaundiced"

mellifluous cooing of the Indian koel
enlivening in wee hours of the morn
infusing in soul voids deep joy until
crows croak found tranquility shorn
narrow and prejudiced is our vision
discriminating against the jarring note
condemning without seeking permission
from heart that unconditional love emotes
moment to moment we keep on judging
oblivious to divine beauty below the skin
stuporous attention thus keeps oscillating
within narrow orbits we continue to spin

uninhibited with one
restrained with another
responses vary too
between brother and mother
if this be the truth
recognising ego is at play
judgment scars innocence
till love becomes our mainstay
We err and are granted opportunity to cleanse the stain
Why then look at the temporarily misaligned with disdain

Deep rooted is our prejudice
Instinctively appraising all
What if God too did roll dice
Bestowed enablements recall
Jaundiced eye rapes and plunders
Deep rooted is our prejudice
Tarnishing Gods sublime wonders
Plunging soul into an abyss
Do pause awhile to reminisce
Why do we choose to judge and score
Deep rooted is our prejudice
Blocking divine bliss to in-pour
Drift aimless in stuporousness
Having forgotten our promise
Oblivious to That Oneness
Deep rooted is our prejudice

"Don't be sad, don't be blue
One test score doesn't define you
You're more than marks, you're bright
Learn from mistakes, shine with new light
Keep calm, stay strong, and carry on
Your dreams and goals are still within reach, Clear
I believe in myself, don't give up the quest
You'll rise again, and do your best!"
The lizard looks hideous
and rats are not like squirrels,
are our preconceived judgments,
proclaimed everyday.
